Longines are getting a lot right Bruce , the spirit is already a classic in my opinion. I don’t know what’s happened to them over the last 4 or 5 years but whatever ever it is it’s definitely working. And of course they are a full blown genuine Swiss quality brand with lots of heritage
Well said. They are really making good moves
The champagne dial is gorgeous.
Nice one. Appreciate your honest thoughts.
Longines have an amazing history so reissues such as the tuxedo chronograph , sector dial and their aviation pieces are always compelling. Mixed with innovation and the new lines there starting to get attention.
Like Oris I've been close, but, not bought yet, but, we'll see what 2024 brings.
Longines over Tudor all day and I own both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been a big fan of Longines since I owned a Longines Master Collection chronograph triple calendar moon phase a few years ago. Bought and sold for ~$1,600 second-hand - crazy amount of watch for the price. Rightfully, Longines has been cranking up their prices since. Also owned a hi-beat original 1969 ultra chron - razor thin
Just look how the bracelet lins up perfectly with the lugs, a perfect match of case and bracelet! Wish tudor did the same! Thanks for your reviews Bruce! Best regards from Sweden!
Nice to meet a fellow watch fan from the Nordic region!
Am done with Tudor quality control issues ; my bb58 came with 2 misalignments out of the box ; 4 months since it’s gone back for repair / replacement whatever
Glad you mentioned the clasp. For me braclets and clasps, can be make or break for watches. An uncomfortable watch is just not wearable. I have had to sell nice watches before because the bracelet was uncomfortable. Tool-less quick adjust is a must these days! Thanks for the review
Woah looks beautiful!!!
Thanks Bruce for another detailed video. I like this watch it reminds me of Breitling Cheonomat B01 42, I'm not a fan of the bigger or taller function pushers than main crown. other than that I like every aspect of this watch.
Longines is doing a great job with making watches that buyers want and keeping prices affordable.
I believe Longines is an underrated brand. I have the Tuxedo chronograph and it is an absolute beautiful timepiece. I receive compliments from people on this watch. It is definitely different from what we usually see.
The clasp kills it for me. I agree with u, they should have used their sports clasp on this watch.
Same here. No one should ever use the butterfly clasp.
I have to say that Longines have really upped the game over the last few years or more. The finishing is right up there with more expensive brands as is the design. This model is no different in that respect but what is, is the modular movement that I guess uses a Dubois Depraz chronograph module maybe similar to the older TAG Monaco (I have the old one and so far no issues after some years). Nothing to be concerned about these days with better oils etc as long as the chrono is used from time to time. I might have preferred a column wheel modified 7753 as used in the Big Eye but that may add expense and maybe the thickness as well. Many thanks for sharing. The Longines brand deserves more love in the US as I gather distribution is not as much as in other territories.
Even though I am not a fan of the brand, I find this Panda Conquest and the Avigator Big Eye amazing!
Beautiful. My only knock is the butterfly clasp. No mirco adjustments on bracelets are unforgivable.
Longines is on a roll
Reminds me of the Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow Rattrapante
Longines is such an unrated brand. Love my Hydroconquest and will be adding a couple more pieces.
I looked at this watch today at my local AD in Vancouver before I saw this video and I had the same concerns and its just a little think but not as bad as a Tudor solid brick chrono and although the price is ok it should be just a little less being a Longines.Great watch in person.( Time and Gold).I would like to see a video rating of the top 10 watches that look like a Rolex Daytona but below it in price.
very nice
Love what Longines has done but,for some reason last week when went to dealer to see Conquest line I felt like the bracelets feel way to light and for that reason maybe you see were they cheapen out.Dont get me wrong the watches do still really good.
Went into a retailer in the Caribbean that with virtually no effort offered this at $2700 USD, b+p, no sales tax. Was quite tempting
Bruce, would you consider reviewing a current generation Planet Ocean chronograph? I'd be so interested in your take on that watch. Keep up the good work! Love your content, have been watching it for more than 4 years now. Greetings from Hungary! Imre
I'll see if I can get one in for review. They aren't too common
It's so beautiful... if the chronograph minute subhand clicked over instead of moving slowly, and if it had the better clasp with micro-adjust, I'd probably buy it.
The L688 would have done that :)
Longines just know how to make a good looking watch , and make way more beautiful watches than tudor for sure!
When longines flyback chronograph in full titanium? That's a sexy watch
I own the silver dial version. I experience the small hands on the subdials hard to see against the black background. The bracelet is ok not more. I replaced the bracelet with a black leather strap with wite stitches and that fits the watch perfekt. The watch runs +3sec/day constantly. Overall quality feels very good. Winding the spring with the crown is buttery smooth. The puscher to start the chrono feels little strange, not that distinkt
reminds me a bit of my Tissot PRX chronograph, nice watch for sure!
To me Longines is moving into the void that Tudor left when they re-introduced the Black Bay 15 Years ago - Tudor also did a lot right in the last 3-4 Years and it´s nice to see that Brands like Oris & Longines took the opportunity to become "affordable luxury watches"
Longines is catching up with Tudor!
problem for me always been the valjoux 7750 movement and its wobbly rotor.
Longines may not be quite to the level of Tudor but they make a variety of watches in different styles unlike Tudor that's turned into a one-trick pony.
I agree and disagree. Longines are definitely targeting Tudor buyers and who wouldn’t after the sales they’ve had. But they’re not a one trick pony. They just run parallel to Rolex. Rolex has the oyster case and Tudor have the bb case. Pretty much the same.
Thanks for this. Too big for mid size wrist?
The bracelet.. pins or screws?
Please review the Marco Odermatt Conquest by Longines. It looks so sick and just recently came out!
Thinking of buying the Oder Matt one
😍
Hi Bruce, great summary of this new Longines Conquest Chronograph. Tell me, overall do you think they are asking too much for ths watch £3,550?
I would buy this if I could afford it.
Depends on who you ask. If you ask any Chinese watch lovers, they will put Longines over Tudor any day of the week.
lack of micro adjust clasp was HUGE miss by Longines. I love the look of this watch, and needed an excuse not to buy it. No micro adjust clasp was the perfect excuse for me to pass on this beautiful, but perhaps a bit too expensive Longines
Everyone’s all in on the panda dial… Is this the new aesthetic trend that will take over from the integrated bracelet trend?
Very nice watch , ive tried it on and i think its a bit over priced for the Quality . £2k would be the real price point for this watch .
I like the looks, but I don't understand the pricing logic. This watch retails for 4k€ with a modular chronograph movement and the Spirit Chrono, an integrated column wheel Chronometer is 3400€ (it was 2900 before the inflation). It is too expensive imho and the Spirit has better finished case, this one looks a tad soft unfortunately.
I've had 2 Spirit Chronograph's since March 2022 here in the UK. Both have failed. As I purchased from AD and not Longines direct I was unable to obtain a refund however after being put in direct contact with Longines (no thanks to the AD) Longines offered me the cash equivalent of the Spirit to put towards another model. I chose this new Conquest in the black version which I picked up direct from the Longines boutique in London.
The point I want to make after what happened with the two Spirits is that I can't help but wonder if there is an issue with the L688.4 calibre . I mean a column wheel Chron, with silicon balance spring regulated to COSC standard in watch that had a rrp of £2570 when I originally purchased in March 2022 seems too much watch for the money. That's partly why I didn't go for the new Sprit Flyback (yes I know it's a slightly different calibre , but is essentially based on the 688 and significantly more costly than the "standard" Sprit Chronograph)..
Touch wood although it's a cam actuated Chono I really like my new Conquest. I just have no confidence in the L688.4.
Im usually not compelled to say i dont like a watch. That ring under the indices and the red trimmed lime lume makes this tough to look at for me. Omg... i apologize! Its just my opinion 😅
< Tudor chronograph
Why didn't you tell us the price?
Are they still using pins in the new bracelet or are really competing with Tudor and Oris and using screws?
I didn't size this but if I remember correctly it was a screw pin
What's wrong with pins?
Is it strange that I like this model?
Bruce, you said 27 jewels but in the macro shot it reads 37 jewels...🙈 5:19
Count on me to mispeak at least once a video haha
When watches say "21 jewels" or "37 jewels", what exactly does that mean?
@@CamelJockey562 It means that there are 37 jewels (synthetic rubies) in the movement. These are used as contact points in areas to reduce friction, and add to the aesthetic beauty of the caliber
I insist on black hands with a Panda Chronograph. I just can't see the actual time very well in daylight otherwise.
so what's its price?
$3650.00
I love longines, their big eye chronos are amazing but they should not be all over the place like omega. Offer less variety with more quality/ attention. Does Rolex offer a sub chrono/ datejust gmt/ air King chrono/ explorer chrono?
Longines has the oldest and deepest catalogs. There are some duds for sure, but most Longines fans seem to like the variety.
Longines are upping their game whist Omega seem to be losing the plot with their later releases at crazy pricing. I just bought a spirit titanium flyback at £5K and a better looking watch would be hard to find in any current spec offering IMO.
I agree that the Longines butterfly clasp is just..Wrong! They are doing what they always do and using up surplus stock before giving the customers what they really want, but they will eventually.
I own amongst others, Longines, Rolex, Omega etc all purchased new..I now prefer the styling and quality of new release Longines TBH.
No doubt Longines has so many different modes . Although Tudor is possibly a better made watch, I think Longines has way more to offer and super value. Tudor just isn’t coming out with much.
The issue with being overpriced isnt a sole problem of this watch. The whole watch industrie asks for insane, unjustifiable prices.
Nice...but $3650 is a LOT for this thing. For a grand less, the Seiko SRQ047 chronograph is identical in spec and size but with a finer bracelet, nicer finishing, a vertical clutch/column-wheel movement, and a design that doesn't look like a Daytona knock-off. What's the justification for the price-hike at Longines?
3650 is a lot and its a thicc. Not quite identical, it's got ~40% more power reserve, and a ceramic bezel insert. That said, I do agree im not convinced it's worth the extra 1k.
I like this, but I think the red lime filled squares are a design misstep. Too cluttered.
I think because of Longines, divers are out and pilots are in.
37 jewels Bruce, not 27
beautiful but I’d really like a date 🙄
Braclet to watch head ratio is off
Problem is the price is getting up there to Tudor money and it’s not close to Tudor quality. This model looks like a Zenith clone and as the price is starting to creep up you may as well bag an excellent Zenith slighter which are soft on the secondary. I briefly had a Spirit 40mm which came with COSC certification and it was well out side that running at nearly +10s/d. The finishing was a joke and the rotor was loud and tinny sounding. Yes this brand cuts corners to deliver decent looking watches that don’t seem backed up with quality. Once again you get what you pay for. Still, it’s a handsome looker if you’re not too worried about getting any bang for your buck.
The latest version of the Longines Conquest Heritage is over 3000 Euros. I bought the previous (35mm) version for less than 1000 Euros about 10 years ago. They are definitely overpriced nowadays...
As most watches are.
Saw it a few months ago. It's just too big. Yes, I know chronos run big, but this one was comically huge on me.
Save up another $1500 and buy a Breitling Chronomat used or gray market…
I know u love the size, but what's the size🤦♂️
No details on case size, height, lug size..
U are doing a product review, not a personal opinion on a product.
Sorry if I sound offensive, but I hope its constructive.😊
I subsribed to u but I didn't like the video.
Please start a watch channel and show me up :)
Did I miss it or don't you, Bruce give any information about size, price, movement? Ok, design is important, but sorry, too less information in this video! You can do better!
lol yes watch the video. And if I missed something get off your lazy bones and do a quick google search :)
@@BruceWilliams I watched it. And I got it. Instead watching TH-cam videos I do better own research.
Bye bye.
Butterfly clasp no thank you
I think Longines have really moved up. Later, when the excitement dies down, you will be able to buy these new Longines models used. I would not buy one new.
Longines make a variety of watches... Tudor tend to lean very heavily on the Black Bay line. It gets a bit boring with endless snowflake hands.
Too expensive for the specs. Great look but not worth the money. I saw it at a store and it looked like a cheap brick.
Way too expensive you can get the seiko panda who's actually looks way better
Saw it in person. Very meh. Forgettable. 5/10.
Tudor gets old with nothing new , its boring... Same as rolex boring... Longines gets me excited with numerous cool releases, i bought a Zulu time gmt green bezel and its plain great fair and square!
For this chronograph model, this bracelets is too gently....
Looked good on videos and photos. Walked into an AD to try it on. It screams cheap and over priced. Really really poorly executed.
100% right
Compared to what? A 15.000$ Rolex Daytona? For sure! But keep in mind it costs only 1/5 of that watch!
The Ultra-Chron gave me this feeling as well, flimsy and cheap.
@@youtubeuser8436 tudor pelagos or 58 for example😉 longines look cheap, sorry
Finally I see people say the truth! Longines in my book are the kings of computer generated photos for their models, which look great, and then when I try it the feeling is sooo much worse than what you'd expect at this price. They *feel* cheap, they even look reasonably well on my wrist when I look at photos but when I hold it and in real life its rather dire.
Yet people seem to love them usually on youtube. Mystery, or I guess marketing works.
