Thanks this is the first video that has bothered to show the detail of the plug and the white spring clip, I was really edgy about this part before now.
hi, the plastic pan has the filter incorporated into it. generally you replace the whole thing. if you get the steel upgrade kit, you will only need to replace filter and the gasket in a service. contact me on our facebook link if you need any parts. cheers
ZF say to fill it until it comes out thinly (quick dripping) then start the engine with the box in park then with foot on the brake shift from park to reverse then slow to drive then manually shift from 1, 2 and then to 3rd and then shut it down and check the temp and it should be between 30- 40 deg celcius. Then remove the fill plug and if oil flow out let it come out until it flow thinly (quick dripping) then replace the fill plug. If no oil flows out then add more oil until it flows out thinly (quick dripping)
Not sure if you are familiar with a 2006 Lincoln Navigator? Well the 2005-2006 models has this ZF 6HP26 transmission in them. My problem is it wont go into tow mode. D6 is overdrive.. D4 is tow mode on these vehicles. Basically keeps it in 5th gear on highway. My problem is D6 light doesnt light up on shifter when I have it in D6. Instead D4 lights up. Then on highway it will go into overdrive when I have it in D4. I'm afraid of towing in overdrive because it could cause damage they say.
hi, i`d need alot more info, but check basics first, all electrical connections including earths, then you will need to test solenoids for operation. a leaking solenoid is considered a mechanical issue and wont throw a fault code. you might also check for flattened out valve body to case seals, they will cause pressure cross leak issues. while you have vbody out you can also air pressure test clutch apply ports. all this info should be in our other zf6hp vids th-cam.com/play/PLQLkuOdKuFot2BAqwwKzgyyIEUJ2Z_Er9.html cheers if deserves beers, link is in description......range sensor is probably heavily contaminated with magnetic debris as well
I did this, but the sleeve took me like 2 hours to put back, because the clip that goes in (white one in the mechatronics/valve body) was not going back in. I might have to do it again but will dread it, because everyone seems to get in back in with ease!
hi, needs to be aligned properly, o`rings need to be lubed and then because has new o`rings will tend to try pop out, so you need to have pressure on it when you have it in and aligned to be able to push the fork up. if you have more trouble contact me on my face book link and few beers will be required. cheers
Hi, We have serviced the 6 speed territory 2008. There is/was no transmission leak. Car drives beautiful for everday suburban use. When I take it city it has to go through gear changes then D starts flashing and rpms go up and speed does not go. If we turn it off and back on the problem gets fixed. Fluid level is correct. Filter was changed recently. Scanned with the scanner only code is p0735 5th gear incorrect ratio. Car as such runs really smooth everday. Every time I try to cross city the problem comes
hi, sounds like could be an internal pressure leak problem. could be leaking solenoids or clutch apply, when oil warms up a lot, it thins out so will pass through where the internal leak is easier. cheers
@@YepThatsIt thanks for the reply, The problem first occured the very next day we serviced the transmission. After that We had taken the risk and traveled from Melbourne to Adelaide the problem came twice each time we were getting accross the cities, and only once in between. Do you think I should try a thicker fluid. First time I had Tritech Multitrans/Maxitrans when the problem started, then I changed to Penrite BMV LV which did not fix probably made it worse as I am getting the problem more often.
hi, if you haven`t damaged the seal on the filter when you did service..... internal leak problem when trans fluid warms up alot. i`d rather invest in an automatic transmission cooler and completely bypass the radiator/heat exchanger. both those brands of trans fluid are good. cheers
YepThatsIt howdy , is a Adative shift reset required on a Ford Territory ZF 6HP26 when service / repair ie, sealing sleeves replaced. And if so is this something that can be done without OBD interface tool ?
@@jordanneville7112 generally if rpm goes too high you have issues on the output part of the torque converter, if rpm is low then you have issues on the input side of torque converter. you test in forw and also rev and by process of elimination it can point you in a direction. bear in mind a test should only be performed for 10 secs max and with good brakes, there is a bit more to it.... search up transmission torque converter stall test. cheers
Hi I have a 2014 Territory diesel, it's done 95000kms, when or should I be changing the transmission oil. Some say I don't need to others say yes I do need to. Also when is the major service on these for timing belt etc. Thanks.
hi, sorry for delay in reply, we just got back last monday. the cleaner and cooler you keep trans, the longer it will last. i recommend trans filter service every 50k when it has done less that 200k, and then every 25k when it has done over 200k. i also like to bypass coolant from trans coller/heat exchanger to eliminate change of coolant entering trans and also add magnets. cheers
hi, make sure you follow the manufacturers guidelines on filling. if you overfill and fluid gets aerated, it will behave or do damage same as if underfilled. cheers
hi, a good guide is to measure what comes out, however sometimes trans might have a leak or previously overfilled, it is always adviseable to check trans at the recommended temp as the fluid will expand as it warms up. cheers
Thanks for your reply again, i have a 06 territory as well and was going to use the dexron6 with the lubegard platinum according to there website it is a suitable alternative have you had any issues using this combination?
Thanks heaps, helped me out heaps. I Couldn’t find a territory video showing where to fill or how to do it anywhere….lifesaver….cheers
thanks & cheers
Thanx, this is the first vid ive seen changing the mega plug aswell so thats great, dont think i would have managed before seeing this !!

well explained good job

Hey mate do the plastic pans use a gasket that can be purchased separately or is a leaking gasket only solved with a new plastic pan? Thanks

Great video. How come its not as easy as replacing the transmission oil that came out and put the same amount in?
hi, spillage while servicing, trans leaks, incorrectly serviced in past etc. cheers
I can’t get the mechatronic sleeve in far enough any tricks ?
hi, just made this vid th-cam.com/video/wpNSncaFEfE/w-d-xo.html . cheers

I’ve been trying to get that changed on my BMW X5 and I cannot seem to get it in, any ideas
get what in ?
Do these mech plugs normally leak if you don't touch the connector or fiddle with it?
hi, yes they can start to leak without anyone fiddling with them, especially when the o`rings flatten out. cheers
Hey mate
is it possible to get the fluid to 40-50 degrees when the car is on jackstands ?
hi, yes, just do a 10 sec stall test. not more than 10 secs at a time. cheers
thanks for your reply can you please explain what you mean by 10 sec stall test?
Also do you need to shift through the gears ?

What are the torque specs on the pan? Thanks!
hi about 12nm or 105inlb...not ftlb. cheers
Hi I have a 2010 Jaguar XF 5.0 V8 6 speed gearbox do you do a flush on that type of gearbox please ?
hi, yes do a filter service, just a flush is pretty much useless without cleaning magnets and replacing filter. cheers

@@jordanneville7112 you will need a couple 4l bottles of the recommended or compatible fluid. not dexron. cheers

How do you rate these transmissions, fairly reliable? Any major problems?
Hi, basically the cleaner and cooler you keep any transmission, the longer it will last for you. cheers
Can you also buy new solenoids for these boxes? Also where are you located ?
Hi, Of course...try dealers or transmission parts supplier. I`m in NE Vic
YepThatsIt thanks for that mate! Where about in Victoria? I’m also from Victoria may get you to do a service for me on my fg xr6 Turbo.
Hi, we are in NE Victoria....Kelly Country. Cheers
YepThatsIt what’s your shop name? Sorry for all questions.
Hi, you can PM me ....under community select messages, Cheers
Hi mate. I’m down your way I’m in Shepparton. I’d like you to quote me on a service for my fg xr6 turbo auto service. How do I contact you
