    I purchased my first rogue this year. I saw it before but was more into the dreamer line. After seeing reviews and your videos I got one second hand for a decent price. I loved it so much I now have 4. I'm lucky that the coach outlet still has some of them and I got some the specialty ones for a really good price. Your videos are so informative and it's nice to find someone who know so much about the product. I'm now in a coach daze. My collection gradually switched from michael kors to coach as I've gotten older. I just find coach bags to be timeless (if you get the right ones).

      Sounds like you have an amazing collection! Your journey sounds like mine; once I discovered the Rogue and the 1941 line, I began selling most of my other brand bags and replacing them with Coach. Their quality is amazing, and their prices are ridiculously great when compared to other high end brands of the same quality.

    • @CoachCraze
      @CoachCraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right! How heavy could the lock have been? The key definitely isn't that heavy. Had they just switched out the buffalo embossed leather details, and changed the handle and piping filler like they did, I think it would have been enough to lighten the bag. And then they could have kept the lock and key, which are removable anyway, so those who still considered it to be too heavy could simply remove the lock and key.

    Thanks for the video! This was very informative because I've noticed over the years (because I was thinking about buying myself a rogue 25 bag) that there were minor style adjustments (i.e. the handle and the leather) and wasn't sure if I was going crazy. I just checked the rogue 25 bag, I bought for my mother years back (she loves and uses it alot)- noticed it ends in 20315 so it was part of the first batch of the 2nd gen. Definitely not too heavy and well-made haha (in great condition after all these years)

Then I just bought a 2nd gen Rogue 25 in denim, brass hardware, and honey or marigold interior - with the 20315 number! It took a lot of research, but it was worth it. Thank you for the video and all the extra information you stated in the discussion box below it. So in love with my new bags! I would love to get a first generation Rogue one day. Great video! I had no idea it used to come with a lock and key. It’s so sad they stopped that. I’m sure you’ve seen the newest iteration of the rogue up on the site now. They offer it in birch, grey, and black but they have removed the piping and it looks a lot stiffer and they are all mono-toned. They also now are making them in that “regenerative” leather which is just bonded leather. Ladies, don’t spend your hard earned money on that regenerative leather. So sad that the quality has gone down. I have two rogues and while I would love to get one custom made, I also love getting a deal in the sales which of course is not possible for custom. Have you seen much in the way of fake rogues in the secondhand market? It would be great if you could do a video comparing all the stamping and differing details across all the different generations of rogues since you have such a big collection. I would find that kind of video really helpful as I think I will want to go to the secondhand market to look for classic rogues in good shape to buy. Thank you. God bless.

    In 2015 Coach was sold to Tapestry maybe they waited a couple of years in order to make those big changes. The products was looking to mainstream, cluttered and it was just all over the place. Now the bags looks classy and even more high end. They don’t have to scream Coach with all the Cs printed on them or the Coach log like it use to, but you still know it’s Coach. I love them now.

  • @dragonswordstriker
    @dragonswordstriker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Alana, love this comparison of the Rogues! I definitely agree that gen 2 and 3 feel quite different (I'm still waiting for my gen 1 to come in to put it to the measure as well).
    I want to share some other observations I have made as well between one of my gen 2s and one of my gen 3s:
    - length of bag: 31.5 cm vs 31 cm
    - thickness of shoulder straps: 4.4mm vs 5.1mm
    - thickness of exterior facing leather: 3.1mm vs 2.9-3.0mm
    - gen 3 hardware operates much more smoothly and has a more "shiny" finish applied
    This is not much data of course, based on 1 gen 2 and 2 gen 3s but even though gen 3 removed some of the features, I've found the hardware oddly better. Have you experienced the same with the straps and hardware?
    I really wish companies would be more transparent about the materials that they use. Glovetanned leather is such a mystery. I'm hoping that someday, I can get a few damaged Rogues so I can dissect them and we can see what the changes have been internally. For example: are the bottoms of gen 3s reinforced differently after the leather piece on the feet have gone?

    • @CoachCraze
      @CoachCraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent observations! Thank you for that info. I hadn't measured the 2nd and 3rd against each other, and also hadn't noticed any differences in the straps and hw because I have only one 3rd gen, which is a 25. I did weigh them, though, and the 3rd gen was 3 ounces heavier than the 2nd gen, which was surprising to me. OH! Now that I think about it, I also weighed a single strap from each gen Rogue, and the 2nd and 3rd gen were the EXACT same weight. The 1st gen strap was a little more, possibly due to the buffalo embossed leather? Who knows.
      Dissecting beat up Rogues would be fun! Let's do it!😄👍🏽 I'm definitely curious to know if Coach reinforced the bottom of the 3rd gen. Because I personally think that the way the bag sits is at least a LITTLE affected by the leather strips (I could be completely wrong, though). I do know that, without the leather strips, the bag sits lower to the ground (I measured them awhile back, but forgot the exact measurements), thus giving more of a chance for the bottom corners to get messed up.

  • @gogogirlmandy5648

    I love your collection of stunning Rogues, my only wish is the handles would drop to the outside of
    bag and a wide shoulder strap was part of the accessories. I find the third generation of Rogue overall lighter,
    especially the 25 size, leather still lush and beautiful...I agree about weight being an issue, it is for me!
    Many bag companies have changed the hardware load to keep them less heavy, and easier to carry.
    Especially with a suede or leather interior. You see this with Dooney and Bourke... they continue to
    produce their line of heavier Florentine bags, but have developed other streamline styles less heavy.
    Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi and even Channel all are doing this on some of their bag lines.
    Hermès has not changed with their classic handcrafted bags which are mega heavy...why the small
    sizes are so popular. Leathers are unique by nature...so each bag will have a different hand and
    Polish. Love my new Rogue find...thanks for your helpful insights. I think the term “natural” means
    it is not faux for those clients who may be sensitive to buying cow hides. Not many people may get
    the “glove” description these days. Great video 😀

    • @CoachCraze
      @CoachCraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very great points! Love all of this info. Thanks for sharing!
      I agree, had the handles on the Rogue been designed to drop down, I'd love them even more. And wider straps would have been amazing, also.
      I love that bag companies create lighter weight styles along WITH their heavier styles. That way, those who have issues with weight and those who don't have options.

    • @gogogirlmandy5648
      @gogogirlmandy5648 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coach Craze I agree..wish Coach would have just kept this line intact and design light weight version. I do know you can coax the handles to drop to the outside..but it does stretch the leather to do it..what I have done to cope with this issue on my bag..I want to use that outside pocket. I have a third generation piece..because it is a tad lighter, the leather is lovely on mine. I am also using my Cassie strap to cross body on my rogue, happens to match color :-) I have learned a lot from you ❤️ Thank you

So, it's not first or second because it doesn't have the lock & key or the kisslock pocket in the middle section. Hi Alana, i have a cuestion about a Rogue i bought off Mercari and i was wondering if you could help me out, its a rogue 25 in chalk in excellent pre owned condition but what caught my eye is the glazing looks a little more reddish than oxblood and the inside leather creed patch(its that how its called?) The numbers are different than my other rogues 25, it has RG-20315 and there’s a white little stripe inside the zipper pocket that says H1680 and below says 54536, i was checking on the Rogue forum someone asking something like this a while ago and she was told that the handbag was maybe one of the first 25’s made in 2016, the leather of my Rogue feels the same as my others, smells the same but im curious, any help would be greatly appreciated.

      The Rogues with the 20315 generic style number on the creed are the first batches of Rogues. You've got yourself an early 2nd gen 25. Lucky you! Those are a little rare now a days, and AMAZING.

    How could I get a hold of a 1st gen Rogue? eBay? I’m blown away by the details of the 1st gen, I’m guessing I have a 2nd gen because I have a 39 in oxblood and black (or pewter or whatever the heck the call
    The black matte) hardware, I love it but always thought something was missing since I think (I need to get that bag out again, haven’t used it in a while) the zipper has a hole to fit a lock, it’s not like the 1st gen, the zipper handles are solid but the ends hace this hole that when both zipper ends get together the intertwine perfectly so you can get the lock through the hole on the zipper ends, the thing is, since I bought mine from a concession store and they are zero careful with the accessories that come with the bag I don’t know why but I suspect my rogue is missing a lock, but if you’re correct, and based on your info my Rogue is 2nd gen, then it actually doesn’t come with one. Thank you so much for the info, you are really good at researching this details!

      Yes, your 39 would be 2nd or 3rd gen. All of the 1st gen Rogues are size 31. Every other size was either 2nd or 3rd gen.

      It's relatively new-ish. Also, a bit underrated, imo. If I ever get it, I'll do a video on it. I do know that I showed it in one of my "Come Browse With Me" videos last year. Let me go look for the video...

    Hey do you have a video on the hidden stamp and how it isn’t present on the older rouge bags?

      I don't believe so.

    I'm quite confused about the code. I have seen rogues with 20315 and some are 54536. How do you tell the year from the code? I recently got one that's B1880-54536 in chalk. Is that right? I can't find 54536 in chalk on Google so I'm a little worried that it may be a fake.

      First, 20315 was a generic style number they threw on the creed of all of the earliest Rogues ("RG-20315"). But inside of the interior zip pocket of each of those Rogues was a small white tag that had the actual official style number (for instance, "54536," which is the official style number for the plain Rogue 25s).
      The date code is in the first set of digits. The first letter in the first set of digits indicates the month the bag was produced (A=Jan, B=Feb, C=March, etc...all the way up to M=Dec). The second two numbers following the first letter indicates the year the bag was produced ('18=2018, '20=2020, etc.). And the two final numbers indicates the location it was manufactured. So, your Rogue (B1880-54536), which is size 25, was made in Feb, 2018.

    Really useful info! It's a shame coach does this to their bags. It seems they did something similar to the quality of the Prairie before making it an outlet style.

    Rogue is the ONLY Coach handbag I would use ...Take it from a person that uses Dior, Fendi, Delvaux, Moynat, etc. ...

    I THINK THE 3RD GENERATION ,THE LEATHER IS MUCH THICKER . THE FIRST GENERATION IS THINNER STURDIER LEATHER. 2ND GEN LEATHER IS NICE ALSO.MY SLATE BAG WAS HEAVY AND THICK IT WAS MADE VERY WELL AND DIDN'T FLOP,I HAD A MARINE 2ND GENERATION,THE LEATHER WAS VERY THIN AND FLOPPY. JUNK IMO.
