David Bowie- Bewlay Brothers (live BBC radio 2002)

  • A rare live track, only performed on the Heathen and Reality tours, (2002, 2003-2004) Orginally appeared on the 1971 Hunky Dory album. Album version is much better in my opinion, but a rare live track nonetheless vauleable for any Bowie Nut

I know, I love it too! I've been a fan for years but not a FAN (if you know what I mean!) until a few years ago, so when I discovered Hunky Dory and especially this song my mind was blown! Couldn't believe I'd never listened to it before.

robin2012ism , Mr Bowie was bisexual when young, not homosexual like me.
His bisexuality gave him great insight into his psyche, tremendous song writing ability, and a lot of sexual songs both of heterosexual and homosexual subject matter, that helped liberate my generation.
What a guy! We were so blessed to have him here on earth.

Lived in Brixton when I was younger and saw a tobacconists called 'Bewlay Brothers' - I thought - wow - wish I'd gone in but I was on a lunch-break and didn't smoke. It lives in my imagination.

Bowie had a loose leaf folder with the song lyrics printed out. He said if he had it with him, he could remember the words (mostly) without looking, but if he forgot it, he'd forget the lyrics! He was so awesome. 💔💔💔💔💔

Bowies music was ethereal and angelic and mad and beautiful and poignant and and and... I miss him daily and love him eternally. Since 5th grade when I was first introduced to his music, then to everything else he's done. He changed my life. Like I know he did for millions. He's more then just an icon. I got to see him in concert but can't wait to meet him on the other side. 😁💛

@BOWIEGIRL30 He always said his brother Terry was a kind of ghost like figure in his life. He cares for him deeply but never knew him very well.
If I remember correctly he was in the army when Bowie was young, so their meetings were sporadic, then of course Bowie hit the big time and his brother tragically yielded to schizophrenia.
I don't think I've done anything to ease your pain, have I? That reads as very tragic in itself!!!
