This method doesn't work for the Swedish flag, sorry. patreon and stuff / cg_matter website www.cgmatter.com business inquiries/donations/etc cgmatterofficial@gmail.com
Its really a game changer, lets you have so much more control over the scene, you can render, and change all the textures after so long as you don't need to change any geo. Used it a few years ago when I was working on very slow to render scene that I was going to need to texture at a later point.
@@roboterson Does it really scale to a scene with multiple objects and textures? Do you need to render them out in separate layers or jump through some other hoops?
I love that compositor trick. That was cool. If you pin nodes just inside of the corners instead of the whole hoist side it will give it a bit more realism.
So two days ago I searched “making flags in blender” and the best one I found was some 15 minute hash threw that didn’t even make a realistic flag. Then this vid shows up in my recommended vids from a channel I’m already subscribed to with like 10x the quality
This is a very helpful video, I especially liked the tip with the UV pass at the end- I knew it was possible, but had no idea how to do it! Learning something new every day. By the way, I mentioned you in the video I just uploaded, thanks for all the great tutorials!
Problem with Self Collisions: if anyone has a problem with self collisions and the flags goes like disappears or does strange things, try reducing self collisions distance to the minimum.
I was having problems with the mesh disappearing after adding the self collusion. I was on 2.82. Tried it on both 2.83 and 290. Finally got it go on 2.90. Keep the tuts coming CG, I am enjoying them.
Hey ! Small update on the FLAGS I'd recommend the multires modifier instead of the subdivisions it seems more adapted to me, but if I'm wrong I'd be happy to have your opinion on it
It works, but there's issues with white pixels on the outer edge of the flag. It think those are due to rounding errors in the UV mapping. Not sure. Also, the subdivision rounds the corners visibly, unless you use "Simple". I think a more traditional approach works better in the long run, especially if you model the strings with which the flag is tied to a pole. It simply looks better, but is a lot more work obviously.
Thank you so much , this comment helped me a lot since my gpu were always greyed out , but when I did what you said , then it was fine , also I was looking to see where he clicked uv, but didn’t see it 🤣, but when I switched to cycles I found it 🤣
@@jessenatter2139 So did I. I think people expected a lot more because it was marketed as a "movie" but it was really an extended episode of Breaking Bad. For me, the quality was just as consistent as the show itself and it wrapped things up for Jesse really nicely.
Great tutorial. Thanks. Just one problem. I can't render with the hdri background. It's always black. I turned transparent in render settings off. Think it has to do with the composite mode? Any help? Thanks!
wait what did i do wrong? on compositing the flag looks fine, well a bit dark but u can see the colours but animation wont play. when i go back to layout it's back to greyish/yellow pixel flag that flows. i'd argue i did everything right on this tutorial, i even had to use 0.75 speed to make sure i kept up but still failed? does Blender 2.90 not work this way?
Ugh, had to stop at creating wind. When I try to rotate it, the flag rotates as well. Looked at 3 different videos and no one seems to have this problem. I'm assuming that I have some setting on. They seem to be parented to each other, but I cant move one without affecting the other.
Great tutorial - Thank you. So the issue I have is when you add any other geometry to this - because of the UV Map method it seems to apply the flag texture to ALL objects in the scene - including the flagpole - how do you get it to only apply to the flag itself? I'm guessing it's something to do with the Alpha Number in the Map uv node?
Hi, great tutorial, what i needed, but a problem is that I used png image and when rendered, it shows little unnecessary border, how do i remove that? pls help!
with blender 2.82 i can't see an option to enable uv in layer properties. the list is - combined, mist, ambient occlusion, subsurface color, z, normal, subsurface direct. that is all. no uv option. is there another way to enable it
I'm using 2.79 and this didn't work until I UV unwrapped.. but you don't show this in the video.. does the newer version of blender automatically UV unwrap?
I liked El Camino, it didn't have the plot twists and turns of hollywood movies, it was actually quite "boring" in comparison, but it accurately revived the genuine breaking bad atmosphere and cinematography. It provided a solid ending for jesse that we were waiting years for. I get that you might've been disappointed but it's definitely far from trash.
ive been having a problem where blender just wont let me render, only this project too, tried redoing it but its the same, anyone know if I unchecked something by accident or something?
I love this is fast and all but i am new to Blender and i don't understand a thing i deleted the cube as you told but i didn't found the "mesh" and couldn't continue sadly...
The problem now is that you cannot add anything in the render , it's only the flag, if I add anything like another plane, it will have the image I composited to the flag. How can I fix this, I've really tried. I can't even render with the hdri world. What can be done to achieve this and make the image be only on the flag?
Finally, he's back with the default cube annihilation
Well, after all the default cube is a disgusting piece of work *spits*

someone from future, please, tell me is default cube safe???

Great tutorial but you missed 1 thing really important. It's fabric, light will come pass through it so adding subsurface will make it more realistic

you could also just add an image texture in the shading tab and you got the same result unless there is something different
