Especially the rear window curve on the LS400 just looks so satisfying. LS430 went cost saving mode. I've got both, and the 92 LS400 is definitely my favourite.

I've owned my 1995 LS400 for 18 years now. When I purchased it I said it would be my last car and since I'll be 70 years old next month and still love driving it as much today as I did the day I purchased it, I don't see myself changing now. Thanks for the vid!

Just FYI the Ford 500 was designed to emulate the Lexus LS430. The CEO of Ford at the time owned an LS 430 and deemed it the best car in the world.

I owned both of these cars. A 1998 LS 400 and a 2002 LS 430 Ultra Package. To tell you the truth the LS 400 was more reliable and had a very good pick when you smashed the accelerator. On the other hand the LS 430 had all the bells and whistles and way ahead of it's time when it came to equipment.
However for the loaded LS 430 came at a cost. Heavy due to all the luxury stuff loaded and so it was a bit lazy. Secondly, the more moving parts you have the more likely some will fail as the car ages. I still have the LS 430 parked and I don't know what to do with it. A friend of mine is still enjoying the 400 and loves it.
Love your input having owned both! Get that 430 moving!

I own the exact same LS 400 in Silver on gray, and I totally agree with you!!! Everywhere I go, people ask me do I want to sell it. It totally stands out in 2024. I was so impressed with the gray one as my daily driver, I purchased a rare 1990 burgundy-on-burgundy LS 400!! I have gotten so many offers for that one too,,,,It's not even funny! LOL!!!

All the issues of the 400 were addressed in the 430. The 1UZ was a slightly stronger build wise than the 3UZ but both engines are basically bomb proof. All the UZ motors are aviation certified to give you an idea how good they are. As the original owner of the custom edition 05 430 with 42K miles i will never get rid of mine. as an FYI the laser cruise does work. Of all The Lexus models to date the 05-06 are the best. the 460 was a real step down and a money pit from 06-13. The 500 is just an afterthought now. Not much attention is put into it. It's missing the V8. In fact the ES 350 is a better value. Nevertheless the 500 is a nice ride. No Lexus is as reliable as the 430.

The LS400 was already perfect therefore the LS430 could not be "better"... only newer and different.
Yes I would that the non- interference engine in my LS400 anyway. Forged internals for the win and if the timing belt break the engine survives.

Awesome vehicles i just sold my 04 ls430 with 325xxx in great condition. I upgraded to a 2014 ls460 a week before i sold it. Also an awesome machine. I just miss my 430 i didnt want to sell it because i dont need 3 cars ,but now im looking to possibly buy another one.

Yes I believe the air suspense was an option package but even if it wasn’t, it appears straight forward to convert it to non air

I have ul 2005 black on black as a weekend car and i fucking love this car. Daily is 2023 Skoda a very good car but not as close felling wise as lexus ls
I have 1997 ls400 and 2003 ls430.. Ls430 is much better, better handling, more luxurious, better in fuel, faster, better seat, mine is an ultra

@@mccgarage That Toyota UZ engine don't play any games. One of the best V8 engines ever made. Originally designed for aircraft. Thats how good it is.

I had a 98 LS400 and i loved that car. Like a moron i sold it to buy a C5 Corvette. It was a post divorce move. Stupid. Then i bought a 2005 LS430 with 35k miles. Incredible car. Now i have 46k miles on it. I love the 430 but i think i like the 400 better.

The hood of the xv10 camrys are actually the same length and the LS400 is only 4 percent longer. I have autism lol. Toyota intentionally made the XV10 Camry look like the LS400 and they do share a similar side profile imo. Imo not a bad thing- it's a great sleek and timeless styling language. Unless you meant "shorter" like lower, not sure what you meant

@@mccgarage Also curious, how did the LS400 ride vs the LS430 in your opinion? I know the LS430 owner gave his input but idk if there's any bias there- wouldn't suprise me if the 430 is more damped and smoother/quieter though. How much smaller did the interior room seem on the LS400 vs the 430 in your view, as well?
@@alexlarson2466 The LS430 was newer and obviously a bit quieter and smoother of a ride. Although I think the LS400 would've been closer if the air suspension was still in it. You got more of a nostalgia feel and good driver response from the LS400 and the LS430 was more modern in that sense. LS400 definitely felt smaller but still full size and very roomy and comfortable.
Great video, the 400 has the best looks to me but the 430 has better tech and comfort to me so its a hard decision. and the 430 and a little better parts avaiblty so ill probably end up getting the 430 and not having to worry about parts as much. I've heard 400 parts are more of a challenge to get

I have a 92 LS 400 in the same two colors are your 91. I will never get rid of it. Why own a LS 430 when you can own the original.
Like I said in the episode I think the LS400 is the statement piece that you love to have in your driveway, but if you’re looking for an older car with modern features and comforts to drive daily the LS430 is the way to go imo
@@mccgarage Ks 400 is modern compared to the cars of the 90's and reliability is fantastic. I am sure I would say statement since it was the Original one that they spent over 1 billion to develop along with countless man hours.

I have a 1990 LS400 burgundy on burgundy with almost 300k miles, used to have a 91 Celsior, never had issues with the 4 I have owned, first one saved my life in a bad accident even after having 8 owners, 300k miles, hitting 160 mph.

Black on black 01-03 LS430s look sick asf. My dad has an 01 UL black-on-black with machine-finished Konig Crown wheels and the thing looks badass on the road. I have a post-facelift 2005 blue-on-tan (yacht spec) and it looks royal too.

It has nothing to do with clout. I film these episodes months ahead of time. At that point he wasn’t going to sell it. Life happens and he needed to change up his plan.

Applaud! Sir you know the car well. Enjoy the car while you can until you are hit with problems of folding mirrors, door actuators, cruise control and more on the minor side, but this is not the end. I am not sure where "Toyota reliability" is originated from, so reliable to last 300k miles, or even 600k like the one of the Car Care Nut. My transmission failed at 130k miles. So much for Toyota reliability. The engine light also comes on once every few months, this hose breaks, that hose breaks. Oh and I don't even want to start with the engine oil leak saga. The 460s are even worse. Air strut leaks at 30k miles?? Can't comment on 500s, my ownership was short-lived, and you got to be incredibly lucky to have problems from a literally new car (bought used). My humble, honest opinion - Lexus is just overpriced Toyota, but can absolutely rival the aspect of "reliability" of their German counterparts. Yes, the LS is comfortable and that silk-smooth experience is almost unreal, but is it worth the pile of repair bills?

@@mccgarage no sir LS400s used to be like 2k. my 2019 optima was 15k (im not saying its luxury). the prices of old toyotas is insane, imo.
Well yeah the prices are going up but you are comparing apples to oranges. If you want a luxury car, you are looking at 30k - 100k typically. But these give you a more affordable option. If I’m looking for a gas friendly commuter car, this is not affordable.
@@mccgarage like I said, not saying a kia is luxury or anything. Just insane to me that the cost is similar. Looked at marketplace and LS400S near me with almost 200k miles are like $5-6k.
