Yeah one thing I'm really sad about is that fantasy anime has turned into "fantasy video game" anime. Everything's all caught up in classes and skills and systems. Lodoss strongly resembles D&D, but its not rambling about spell slots or classes. Its about the characters.
@@canela904 Add to that the fact that despite coming from a game background, the adaptation of the campaign removed all mentions of game systems to make it immersive, whereas this trend of anime and manga relishes in referencing game systems, preventing any form of immersion. All for you to relate to the main character over a shared love for games and a spectator position relative to the world, not because of their struggles and choices. (because let's face it, most characters in those stories don't treat the world and people they encounter as real people and places, but rather as fiction come alive. Like that rampant trend of having the mc "save" slaves by buying them. And miraculously winning their love through the money spent. Great message lmao)
I watched anime for last 20 years and this op is my absolute favorite. I was 11 yo when I heard it for the first time, now I am 30 and it still haunts me like no other.

Kiseki no Umi is eerily good, totally out of this world, and this was shortly after Maaya made her debut on Escaflowne too, legend in the making I tell ya. They don't make animations like this anymore, it's such a shame, even with the limited technologies available back then they still managed to convey very strong emotions with the animation

The memories... It's been like two decades now, and this is STILL my favorite anime opening. Of ALL time. There used to be a very crisp and high-quality version of this opening without the credits on top on YT somewhere, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
At 63 years This is one of the best if not Best opening ... that ever was made , cocaine in the Eyes , and very emotive dripping and lyrical , great depth and the characters " sang " in their portrayals deeply thought out. I found this series almost 20 years ago ...and few openings were ever made to math this. Beautiful Arts ...
The opening is amazing, and it really grabs me. The underlying theme seems to be about love, and being strong in the face of darkness. Just like the people in the world of Lodoss, we also have had to face dark times as well. All we can do is hold onto those most precious to us and find the courage to overcome the darkness whatever it may be.
Just watched the OAV for the first time, This anime makes so much more sense now. Can't wait to go back then watch OAV 1-8 then this series for a rewatch. Awesome beginning.

@@beltorXD Bajo mi punto de vista para mi, los primeros 10 episodios donde se incluye este opening tuvieron algo de epicidad. El perfecto doblaje en España hizo que se sostuviera la serie aunque los episodios del 12 al 27 no estuviesen con la misma calidad de los anteriores.

Siempre que miro este opening no puedo evitar sentirme melancolico al ver a Deedlit en el 0:54 min ya que me hace imaginar en lo triste de su destino al darse cuenta que su amor con Parn esta marcado por la tragedia, ya se por la espada o el paso del tiempo, ella al ser una elfo con el don de la juventud eterna, tendrá que ver morir algún día a su amado.

This is the second opening of Record of the Lodoss War.. By this point in the series, Parn was like level 99, had Jon Snow status, and was giving out quests to Noobs in starter towns XD.

It was a reimagining of the original story and so lost all its charm. The best thing about the original was that they all sucked. I dont think deedlits water spirit actually ever successfully injured anything. They failed forward until they won buy guts alone. The tv version they're war gods. The only good thing in the tv version was orsons death and this intro.

Una historia de fantasia unica donde primero no se trataba de un isekai, el personaje principal no estaba roto, los grupos eran homogeneos, pero sobre todo sin volver a las chicas estereotipos o como se les llama Waifus o peor aún waifulandia. Cosa idiota... ahora seguro habrá grupitos que van a censurarlo porque sencilamente dirán que los elfos oscuros hacen blackface.

このオープニングの画力が維持できてたら、間違いなく超名作になっていただろうなぁ。途中で無理なシナリオや人員配置になってしまったのが、この作品をちょっとダメにしてしまった気がしたが、小説版、そして歌に関しては本当に素晴らしい作品だったと私的には思っています。出来ることならリメイクされてほしい作品です。

OPが好きすぎてアニメ○トでOP映像を切り出したラミネートカードを何種類も買って定期入れに週替りで挟んでた過去。。
本編は全体的に残念だったけど、オルソンが召される辺りとかは唐突に劇的な綺麗さだったなぁ。あのクオリティを保ってくれてたら間違いなく傑作だったと思う

英雄騎士伝のOPは滅茶苦茶良いんだよなぁ。なお本編は……。
ディードリットの声優さんが後半に病気で降板して、そのまま声優に復帰できなくて亡くなってしまったけど、代役が次々決まったのを聞いて闘病中にお見舞いに来た方に「私の代わりは居るんですね……」と言ったエピソードが哀しい。
アニメの方もこのクオリティならほんとよかった。
こっちは今の技術で作り直してほしい。。。

Una historia de fantasia unica donde primero no se trataba de un isekai, el personaje principal no estaba roto, los grupos eran homogeneos, pero sobre todo sin volver a las chicas estereotipos o como se les llama Waifus o peor aún waifulandia.
