    ■ It would have passed probably ages again to upload a new video, but because I'm making now a more complex project, until the main build video will appear I will post some episodes with different stages of the construction, longer and detailed, maybe some of you will find it useful.
    ■ First is this one with selecting, dimensioning and bringing the wood pieces to thickness. If you watched my video with the kiln build last year, this is the wood I have dried in it.

    SO calming with that quiet jazz background music. At a time when so much craziness is happening in the world, this was such a peaceful 10 mins.

    I like to use rift sawn lumber for my leg stock. I'll be interested to see what the effect will be with quarter sawn. Looking forward to further episodes.

    • @AdrianPreda
      @AdrianPreda  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wanted that also, to have the grain on all faces, but couldn't find 4 clean boards like that, almost all rift sawn ones had defects and that length wasn't obtainable. I hope that if the legs will be thin enough, the plain grain faces of the qsawn wil not be so visible.

    I love this video. You are truly a professional video maker and wood worker! I have one small suggestion if you will hear it. I'm sure many viewers are like me and find your videos very relaxing. One moment of the video made me uncomfortable, and that was at the table saw for the parts when you weren't using the pusher. I recommend only showing the parts where you are using the safety pusher thing. I'm not suggesting there was any real danger present, but just the sight of hands anywhere close to table saw blade gives me anxiety. Thank you so much for this video, can't wait to see the next one!

    • @AdrianPreda
      @AdrianPreda  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Power tools are dangerous anyway even with safety accesories, care must be taken all the time. There was necessary to start feeding the board by hand as it was too long to start with the gripper, maybe more dangerous to do that in the first place. Thanks, stay safe!

  • @michael.knight

    What kind of moisture meter do you use? And what moisture percentage did you get? Asking because I'm working on a desk myself at the moment, and one of the boards I wanted to use is starting to warp (maybe it wasn't as dry as I thought...) and now I think I might need to invest in a moisture meter too!

    • @AdrianPreda
      @AdrianPreda  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh thanks for reminding that. I have added the links in the description with both meters I have. I show in the video, is around 9-10% now, given the fact that in the last weeks the RH was pretty high, towards 70%. In the summer, when they were freshly dried it was around 7-8%. Moisture is dependent on the ambient humidity. Check on google wood moisture content vs relative humidity you will find some graphs showing a general correspondence between them

    Hi Adrian, could you recommend this planer thicknesser combo from Einhel?
    Are you familliar with internal design of it? I think it have a bearing in one side and a sleeve or so called hub insert in another side. And that means that after some use it wears out and start to wobble.
    Or does this one have ball bearings in both sides?

    • @AdrianPreda
      @AdrianPreda  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I decided to buy it I knew there was a risk of getting a bad one, so I was prepared for returns, get another one, refund etc My main concern were the table alignments on the jointer side and surprising there were acceptable, I believe I have a max 0.5mm twist which is ok.
      Didn't noticed the types of bearings inside sincerely. So far it worked fine. I do often remove the cover, clean all the dust there on the chain, belt, wheels etc
      The planer side is ok, the only small issue is that is constantly leaving some black paint or grease marks on the wood, I think that sheet table is peeling off, but is coming of easy when sanding or planing. An extra piece of laminated board attached will solve this probably.
      I don't know if to recommend this. But other options besides a professional one are not (specially for the Europe market if you live here, in US you find better ones at this size, cast iron table etc). All the other like Bernardo, Fervi, Holzmann etc are the same thing, same chassis. Metabo one is better, but still it has issues too what I read on the internet.
      It is cheap dough, I paid ~240 euros. If you embark yourself with patience when buying it, accepting that you may return it if is bad, it can go. That's how I did.
      The fence is a joke. I made one myself as you can see.
