  • Today we look at how to make an easy dust effect in Fusion! This concept is a little more involved than our other quick vids, but it's still quite simple. And just as with the others, it's designed to focus on and teach one core fusion skill with a direct application. That means you can take these skills and apply them to other ideas!
    And once you're done being all rad and making your own dust effects, take a look at some of these nifty deals we've got just for editors:

    I was recently working on a video where I wanted a sort of snowfall filter over some of the footage. So I opened Blender and put together some particles falling with Brownian motion, rendered that to video, then I put that video on top of top of the other layers in Resolve and set the blending mode to screen. And it was a short clip, so I had to do a loop with a crossfade between iterations to keep it going.
    And now I know that I could have done the whole thing in Resolve. LOL. Thanks for the video. I've been on a deep dive of your content. I've been using Resolve for two years, but the only times I look stuff up is when I need to do something _now._ Over the weekend I checked out some of your beginners guides and learned a _lot_ of stuff.

    Thanks for every single video, Casey! Your work makes this fun. Would you be interested in making a tutorial for the probably simple task of prepping and exporting video especially for Instagram TV and Instagram Reels? I'm sorry but I only trust you with that kind of staff.

    Hey!! Thankl you for the video! Im having trouble adding a glow effect to only the particles. I have a background in a 3d space and particles that are in the same 3d space but when I add a glow, it affects both the background and the particles... Ive been trying to get the glow to work only on the particles while still being in a 3d space and not affecting the background for hours but to no avail. Would you be able to help me out?

    Nice. love your quick tuts. they are much more effective than others where people record themselves rendering out caches, in real time (ugh) and make us wait while they spend 5 minutes clicking around and going "um... ok.. well wait, I forgot to... " ha ha. quick question, how would we go about making the particles sparkle? kind of like glitter if you know what I mean. thanks for the hard work to help us out!!

    How can I "smooth out" such effects; so it doesn't just stop showing in the next clip, but rather has a nice transition?

    Mh, misleading thumbnail. Usually your videos are great, thank you for all the great work on them. Here, however, i kind of would have expected the dust particles to have depth of field / being blurred in the front and back, like your thumbnail for this video suggests? That looked amazing, but here the result is kind of underwhelming.

    • @an_Hylian
      @an_Hylian 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean the thumbnail are just basic particle nodes with number set to very low. And just repeat that a few times with different sizes and blurs.

    is it possible to replace particles with a bmp or other image? for example, can I put 1 or more emote faces as particles?
