    I love the Australian way of understating things. "we just have to level this out a bit" as they are looking at a truck completely on its side lmao

    I met Jase & Simon at Katherine a couple of years back, a great pair of blokes. This happened not long before I met them and of course the conversation soon turned to this situation. After fifty odd years 4 wheel driving throughout this beautiful country, I learnt something from this. This is the best demonstration of team work and Aussie mate-ship I've ever seen on you tube !!!. I'd have been proud to have you both with me in Vietnam. "WELL DONE BOYS !!!!"....True-Blue Aussies.........

    • @sthnwatch
      @sthnwatch 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly. Notice at tthe beginning when the initial bogged driver assesses the difficulty of it all and he says: "Yeah, we're gettin' out." He's very hopeful but I can tell he's deeply concerned that he might not get out. But that's the attitude that the Australian has. They die fighting. Die on their feet (when they do get killed which is hardly ever. Just ask the men that have fought beside them in war).

    I work in the cape and for my job have to travel these roads regularly. I drive alone and traverse roads that often havnt been travelled for weeks. I see southern number plated vehicles ripping up the road and doing rediculous things regularly. Rule of thub with tidal water, dont drive across it, if so, have your snatch straps at the ready, assess anchor points before traversing. I carry old ww2 marsden matting strapped to the truck and it never fails. experience goes a long way. You guys did a good job, in that, you never stopped trying things and even when things didnt work, you kept giving it a go. You worked well as a team.

    • @reidcrosby6241

      I have a pretty good pallet (2500lbs) of original Marsden here. I use it for custom furniture/fixtures. Seems govt sold a bunch after WW2...I got mine from a barn demo, farmer used it as fencing near the barn. Nice to have around...I don't "off road"...but I do plan to use some as removable panels in a roof rack. In an absolute emergency you could take the time to unbolt it.

    One of the best 4x4 videos

  • @joeeoj1484
    @joeeoj1484 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    My humble opinion is that those cars are incredibly HEAVY ! I mean just look at all those stuff they carry. I haven't watch many episodes of All 4 Adventure so I don't really know what those people do in general but so far I really enjoy those videos. I am into 4x4 for more than a decade but in Greece from where I come from we have a different philosophy. Smaller cars so to be more lightweight with excellent items (winch, tyres, shock absorbers etc) so to perform the best but always we keep in mind to take with us only the necessary stuff we need. So no problem in extreme mud, snow, sand etc. My personal opinion is that HUGE engines with countless horsepower is rarely needed, after all no matter how much strong engine you have car still has only 4 tyres, so how not to stuck so easy. I was really impressed how easy the car stuck and he wasn't going very slow. For me too much weight is my enemy especially in those difficult terrains. Also the car that was pulling had also so much weight so high and the gravity level was on the sky so with a small wrong ungle of pulling he flipped. Still I really liked the videos I watched so far. Keep the good work people, you are really cool :) Sorry for any mistakes but as I said English isn't my language. Kisses from Greece.

    • @Ranger4244
      @Ranger4244 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +joe eoj I agree on the general philosophy. I can only assume that the heavy load is due maybe to them going so far out from resources? I am getting a military trailer like an M416 for my jeep so that on long trips I can spread the load out and still have enough gear for the entire trip.

    • @joeeoj1484
      @joeeoj1484 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +J Myakka Well, yes if you intend to stay many days out in the wild of course you will need more stuff with you. For this reason when I go out with my friends if we program a many days trip we try to take with us more vehicles so to share the weight. For example if for 2 cars the weight is too much we arange to go with 3 cars cause for many days we carry from chain saws to those machines that solder iron ( I don't know the word in english) In some cases for many days in the snowed wild mountains it happened to go with 12 cars. Imagine what we took with us lol. My point is that if I want to go alone for example I will stay out as many days I can with items I can carry in a safe level of driving. Security is first priority and a good company is a must :)

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could geet a 6 wheeled vehicle, then you'd have a good reason to have a really big engine to power 6 wheels, and not just 4.

    • @michaelduong3852
      @michaelduong3852 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      they are geared to go for several weeks out in the outbacks! And they need all the power because of the heavy loads that they carry. The is essential when climbing steep inclines which we have quite a lot of here in Australia. Once in a while, they also bring their boat which in total together with their car, boat and trailer and all the gears, they weight over 6 tonnes! So i doubt a tiny engine is going to be able to haul 6 tonnes across our Australian outbacks... And plus, this show is about 2 guys and 2 4x4 trying to tackle the great Australian outbacks which is why they have to have everything in those 2 cars. And since this is a show, they are not going to be putting everything in the camera mans car so this way it lets us know that it is possible with the right equipment!

    • @gamerjamie1234
      @gamerjamie1234 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      since your from greece ill explain
      where these guys go is so remote inland theres no shops or anything they are self reliant they run out of food or fuel they are stuck thats why there's so much stuff they have to carry everything on the tray its not how heavy it is its how will you survive the simpson is closed for most of aus's summer because people go out and die from not having the amount of water they need
      not talking as a keyboard know it all talking as a aussie who knows these trips well

    Cool video guys, glad you got both rigs out of there in time. This is the worst kind of stuck because the treads get filled, no traction, suction from the mud/sand, and time running out because of rising water!! Couldn't believe it when you flipped the one right back over and only a bent mirror!!

    Don't say you're stupid Jase for doing what you did, it's a normal offroader instinct to drive again in the track you've driven before subconsciously thinking that it is harder like in almost all muddy tracks. Unfortunately in this rare case driving in the hard crust in the area you haven't driven on, is the right thing to do.

      I love this stuff, remote and bogged. But any river/mud flat crossing especially up North should be taken very seriously. The first time he went through, he was hooking, on the second go for the stupid cameraman, there was nowhere near enough pep to his step+the crust broken.
      Good shit this thou, love the Aussie never give up, spirit.

    That folks is why you always travel in pairs. At least they were prepared, hopefully before they go out next time they will purchase a sand anchor as well. A snatch block will allow you to anchor to a tree or the sand anchor and back to yourself to get you back on your wheels. Good job guys holding your cool in a very stressful situation.

    I'm an Aussie and I can say these guys handled that situation like a BOSS. These guys in the video are professionals with a high degree of knowledge on survival. Places in Australia are so remote that if you make a mistake and you don't have water or resources to get to safety you will die. A couple were driving out west and their car broke down out the middle of nowhere. He attempted to walk 50km to the nearest station with a bottle of water at first light in the morning. They found him dead by the road just 2km from the station. Most likely the extreme heat killed him.

    • @TheSwordsmon
      @TheSwordsmon 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are kidding, right? In what universe did they act "professionally"? In a truly remote area, professionals take no unnecessary risks with their vehicles, because if something goes wrong, the consequences can be severe.These guys got both trucks stuck at the same time, they rolled one of them, they snarled up their winch, and they ignored basic safety precautions (such as wearing gloves). They seem more the "hold my beer and watch this" brigade, although to be fair there was no evidence of alcohol.
      And there wasn't any emergency to make them have to take safety short-cuts. It *was* pretty much high tide - the water doesn't get much higher than it did while he was stuck, as one could see from the topology.

      james bower We get it here too, where Germans come to Death Valley and decide to walk around in the 120 degree heat in the dunes and get lost. Most people don't understand extreme heat.

      TheSwordsmon it was synthetic line moron, no glove required

    • @TheSwordsmon
      @TheSwordsmon 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Keltingr Professionals use gloves. These guys are amateurs. They play the game pretty well, but they aren't disciplined or careful, which is what separates the pros.That's why they got both vehicles stuck, rolled one, tangled the winch rope, broke his watch, etc. I'm not really criticising them, they're just out for some fun, but let's not pretend they handled things like professionals, which is what james bower said.

    • @jeffy0807
      @jeffy0807 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheSwordsmon, you must be one of those "I'm not getting my hands dirty" or "I don't wanna break a nail" kind of ladies. This is Australia where there are deadly snakes and crocs. No one really cares about gloves when there's tidal waters that are home to 4+ metre saltwater crocs. Unless you know anything about outback Australia and it's harsh environment, shut ya flapper ffs.

    No knowing everything you two were up against nor the equipment on hand, hind sight will be 20/20. In my humble opinion, I'd have tied off recovery vehicle and winched out.what are your winches rated at 12k lbs.? But given the fact that the tide was coming in, I understand that time was of the essence. That being said, you guys did a phenomenal job with what you had and the time constraints. Can't wait to come back to Australia.

    • @DonegalOverlanding
      @DonegalOverlanding 6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      The other trucks brakes would not be on. The front truck with the bad brakes wouldnt be using brakes, it would be winching itself towards the tree with the stuck truck dragged behind it by straps. Very simple, very easy and much safer. But hey its easy saying that sitting here. Who knows the winch might not have been strong enough to pull it out anyway, it was very heavily bogged.
