Yup. As of now they still haven't gotten any wins. Five of the members of DC has been in this for 7 years and the other two for 4 years. The five members contracts are expiring this year. I'm pretty sure they will resign their contracts though, but who knows? So I'm kind of torn inside and hope that Dreamcatcher won't end up like 9MUSES. 9MUSES is a girl group that disbanded after 9 years with no wins. At least one of the OG 9MUSES member is actually an InSomnia. Her name is Ryu Sera and has a TH-cam channel. She's our fandom president! 😃
Girl group competition during 9Muses days were very tough. They started off when some of the biggest girl groups were still active, such as Girls' Generation, Sistar, Red Velvet, T-ARA, and 2NE1. Nowadays, KPOP is oversaturated with groups and the competition is even tougher. I hope they get to perform on an awards show someday though at the very least! They certainly deserve it for their iconic group concept!
Dreamcatcher gained lots of success in 2020 they sold 179k album in 2020 they were in the top 10 girl group albums sales and Road To Utopia sold 45k on their first day so DC gained a lots of success

KraayJay's Ultimate guide's their best guide on the individual members, in terms of 1 video. But the series of "This is..." videos on each member (and also the group) is the most updated set of guides currently. And btw, nope, Dreamcatcher was still likely robbed with no acknowledgement from any official sources. And, most likely there won't be a show win this comeback either as they've already lost several (came in 2nd once), though there's a small chance next week but they're trailing somewhat significantly in the numbers and predictions. The main reason for their lack of music show success is because rock/metal is not popular in Korea so their digital sales there are way, way lower than other groups, as is their voting from Korea for music shows (international fans represent really well, but they factor much less than do Korean fan votes and sales). The second reason is some bad timing with comebacks. For award shows, their unconventional sound and style don't seem to be valued very highly - they haven't received any nominations/awards since their 1st yr (a couple of best new artist noms) nor even invites to perform at any of the top shows. (EDIT: almost forgot, they received 5 noms for the Seoul Music Awards last wk, BUT this is the show that literally noms everyone: they were in categories with 66, 66, 50, 30, & 16 noms - incl for a Bonsang where 12 were handed out among 50 noms, yet DC still didn't win one).

The Show (that made the "error" in calculation), instead of coming clean about the calculation and apologizing, mocked dreamcatcher in a passive aggressive tweet with a badly edited picture of them. Its just really obvious the results were fudged tbh. Such an error in calculation is way too big, and even with the outcry regarding it they never tried to show their actual results or calculations, instead mocking the group for not winning. So disgusting
And even recently with their Boca comeback last year, dreamcatcher amassed good views for the first week so they could have used that to win, but COINCIDENTALLY The Show decided to cancel the show for that week "due to covid" (despite them never doing this before the whole year abruptly). The second week, views slowed down, and another group won. And this time even, for their Odd Eye comeback, three days after dreamcatcher announced their comeback, The Show came out with an announcement that they will ABRUPTLY making a new voting system (which will obviously impact dreamcatcher, who has more international fans than Korean fans). It's all so sleazy and obvious.

Back when I was first looking into Dreamcatcher, I saw this video and watched it. This was the turning point for me from like casual listener to hardcore "stan". Hearing just how resilient they are and the amount of times the odds have been against them was eye-opening. I like a lot of groups, but I LOVE Dreamcatcher. They are incredibly talented and work so hard despite being held down or under dogs. I respect them for always coming out swinging no matter what.
Really well said. This awesome guide highlights really well just how underrated they've been in the industry, now going on 4+ yrs, or 6.5 yrs if including MINX. They have arguably the biggest underdog story out there (that doesn't have a positive conclusion - yet) for a group who's been around that long with that productive and top tier of a discography.

Everglow shouldn't be blamed, but there's a lot of talk about shady hijinks their company gets up to. I like Everglow so no shade there and DC and Everglow get along fine. Again it's the corporate dark underbelly that ruins things for everyone.
The two main hypotheses I heard were that indeed, Everglow's company may have pulled strings to get them the win; the other was that YG had/has some pull with the Show, and may have used that to nobble Happyface in retaliation for the lawsuit. Of course, that was while Yang Hyunsuk was still with them; I don't know if that would still have any relevance now.

All we got were some terribly photoshopped images... 🤨 It's a stark contrast to the other shows, where DC have often commented on how nicely the staff have treated them. Still no excuse for the bad graphics work since no other artists had the same issue and no one bothered to fix it.
Nearly all their comebacks were near huge competitors so their chances of winning were lessened even more. Dreamcatcher is so talented and deserves their first win but we insomnias know that a win isn’t what classifies them as successful artists.

Still no win at the moment so we are streaming hard: the MV on TH-cam but also more importantly on KOREAN digital platform, Genie and BUGS, which is the biggest hurdle at the moment (Spotify doesn't count). As an ARMY and an InSomnia, it kind of broke my heart (I started to become InSomnia during "You and I" era and during "Scream" I was a bit sad as "ON" came as well as other big groups). Looking forward to the reactions to dance practices!

First time I saw Minx was the Love Shake video, _after_ already getting used to Dreamcatcher. I _swear_ I could feel my eyes burning... 😵 I'm relatively new to K-pop myself; I fell in about three years ago now, and DC were only the second group I got into (after first getting hooked on Twice). But I've certainly never heard of any group pulling such a 180 in the way that they did. The closest you're got is probably something like Red Velvet, who kind of have a couple of different concepts, but they do that concurrently, and I don't think they're _as_ different as the transition between Minx and DC... The only other group I can think of that's pulled this kind of redebuting trick is NeonPunch/XUM, and that's both more recent, and I don't think quite as drastic. Plus they're pretty untested at this point, and they _lost_ members instead of _gaining_ them. 😋 The time gap between the two was... I guess quite a bit, really. The space between the _announcement_ and redebut was only a couple of months, but bear in mind, the announcement was November '16, and they hadn't had any action since Summer _'15_ - over a year. "It's so hard not to bop to these songs..!" No-one's asking you to stop... 😜
SNSD is the only other group I can think of that tried a lot of different concepts (kpop, rock, pop, edm, Jpop, etc), but they were still called SNSD. No other girl group has ever switched their concept with a full 180 degrees as much as the Minx -> Dreamcatcher one. If there were other they were probably not successful even after the switch. Minx is gone forever! Dreamcatcher is here to stay now as long as the members decide to stick together.

I'm a bit late... But I'm just here to say that more recently, during BOCA comeback, 1 week of The Show was completely cancelled without any official explanation. And, it wasn't a random week. It was the first week of the comeback, that had DC's highest sales at that time, and, they had no major competitors that week. Was it sheer bad luck, or does it have anything to do with some shady business, everyone should have it's own opinion... Edit: DC is one of the well known group on the international scene. But in Korea nobody knew them a few months ago. Now they're starting to get some recognition...
In the most recent Show, Dreamcatcher were robbed again. They were 1111 points behind Golden Child which is SBS's way of saying "F U". DC lost to Everglow by 11 points but if the numbers weren't fudged they would have actually won by 111 points. The Show making DC lose by 1111 points is SBS way of rubbing it in our face: 11, 111 then 1111. Numbers especially in multiples of 11 are magical and have meaning; 33 being the most magical number of them all. 11 and 33 popping up in numerical calculations is quite common when the numbers are fudged or made up, and whenever I see 11 and 33 used at all, I always take the statistic with a grain of salt. So yeah there is a conspiracy to deny DC of wins and gaining more of a foothold in the industry and domestic Korean market.

I've been bingewatching this Playlist lol Since you like them, I'd personally recommend Loona, which is a 12 member girl group that have their own solos, sub units and their songs are fire. As for a boy group, if you don't already know them, I think you might also like Seventeen, a 13 member boy group who write and produce, AND choreographs their own stuff, and also have sub units. That's only if you want to! I'm already loving your reactions!

It's less than it was now, but there's still a lot of groups on the table. Competition continues to intensify.
You might be able to say Nature’s “Girls” video did, but from the comments, they do change up their style from time to time. I tried out a couple of their others and they just weren’t my style, but Girls was a very good / interesting song and concept.
There is another girlgroup that has radically changed the concept this is 3YE (pronounced third eye). This group consists of three former members of the group AppleB which had a typical cute concept. Now 3YE have a badass concept or for me power girls concept. The group debuted in 2019 and has 4 singles (DMT, OOMM, Queen, Yessir) and 1 mini album. They are very cool girls, very charismatic with very strong choreos. And just like DC sing live. Сheck it out and you'll be amazed. Regarding Dreamcatcher, they have long outgrown k-pop. This became especially noticeable in 2020. They act in a territory that no other k-pop group will ever enter in their lifetime. Right now, winning a Korean music show won't bring them anything. For 4 years, all Koreans who wanted to have already become their fans. Therefore, they should only use music shows as a means of promoting new songs and focus on global promotion.

Hihi, I've realised in a couple of your video the camera is always trying very hard to focus on you. It might be because of the lighting or the area of focus. Ignoring the twitter storm that occurred afterward and not saying anything pretty much confirms that The Show was up to no good and they were not concerned about any outcry or a complains regarding a small company.

It's a stark contrast to the other shows, where DC have often commented on how nicely the staff have treated them. It's a good rule of thumb that if you're not in love with DC, you just don't know them. 😋
@@Brickerbrack It was found that the terribly photoshopped image was from a poster done by the festival where The Show was at for the 2nd week of DC promotions and not The Show themselves. Still no excuse for the bad graphics work since no other artists had the same issue and no one bothered to fix it.
Nearly all their comebacks were near huge competitors so their chances of winning were lessened even more. Dreamcatcher is so talented and deserves their first win but we insomnias know that a win isn’t what classifies them as successful artists.

7:30 i belive CLC did the same thing but they did not chanced the name they just went from cute concept to girl crush, i think there is few more groups like that but they were not succesfull as CLC or Dreamcatcher

Still no win at the moment so we are streaming hard: the MV on TH-cam but also more importantly on KOREAN digital platform, Genie and BUGS, which is the biggest hurdle at the moment (Spotify doesn't count). As an ARMY and an InSomnia, it kind of broke my heart (I started to become InSomnia during "You and I" era and during "Scream" I was a bit sad as "ON" came as well as other big groups).
Looking forward to the reactions to dance practices!

First time I saw Minx was the Love Shake video, _after_ already getting used to Dreamcatcher. I _swear_ I could feel my eyes burning... 😵
I'm relatively new to K-pop myself; I fell in about three years ago now, and DC were only the second group I got into (after first getting hooked on Twice). But I've certainly never heard of any group pulling such a 180 in the way that they did. The closest you're got is probably something like Red Velvet, who kind of have a couple of different concepts, but they do that concurrently, and I don't think they're _as_ different as the transition between Minx and DC...
The only other group I can think of that's pulled this kind of redebuting trick is NeonPunch/XUM, and that's both more recent, and I don't think quite as drastic. Plus they're pretty untested at this point, and they _lost_ members instead of _gaining_ them. 😋
The time gap between the two was... I guess quite a bit, really. The space between the _announcement_ and redebut was only a couple of months, but bear in mind, the announcement was November '16, and they hadn't had any action since Summer _'15_ - over a year.

SNSD is the only other group I can think of that tried a lot of different concepts (kpop, rock, pop, edm, Jpop, etc), but they were still called SNSD. No other girl group has ever switched their concept with a full 180 degrees as much as the Minx -> Dreamcatcher one. If there were other they were probably not successful even after the switch. Minx is gone forever! Dreamcatcher is here to stay now as long as the members decide to stick together.

I'm a bit late... But I'm just here to say that more recently, during BOCA comeback, 1 week of The Show was completely cancelled without any official explanation. And, it wasn't a random week. It was the first week of the comeback, that had DC's highest sales at that time, and, they had no major competitors that week. Was it sheer bad luck, or does it have anything to do with some shady business, everyone should have it's own opinion...
Edit: DC is one of the well known group on the international scene. But in Korea nobody knew them a few months ago. Now they're starting to get some recognition...
They also made the song eclipse the intro to kings raid anime series which is also a collaboration with the mobile game
In the most recent Show, Dreamcatcher were robbed again. They were 1111 points behind Golden Child which is SBS's way of saying "F U".
DC lost to Everglow by 11 points but if the numbers weren't fudged they would have actually won by 111 points.
The Show making DC lose by 1111 points is SBS way of rubbing it in our face: 11, 111 then 1111.
Numbers especially in multiples of 11 are magical and have meaning; 33 being the most magical number of them all. 11 and 33 popping up in numerical calculations is quite common when the numbers are fudged or made up, and whenever I see 11 and 33 used at all, I always take the statistic with a grain of salt.
So yeah there is a conspiracy to deny DC of wins and gaining more of a foothold in the industry and domestic Korean market.

Since you like them, I'd personally recommend Loona, which is a 12 member girl group that have their own solos, sub units and their songs are fire.
As for a boy group, if you don't already know them, I think you might also like Seventeen, a 13 member boy group who write and produce, AND choreographs their own stuff, and also have sub units. That's only if you want to!

You might be able to say Nature’s “Girls” video did, but from the comments, they do change up their style from time to time. I tried out a couple of their others and they just weren’t my style, but Girls was a very good / interesting song and concept.
There is another girlgroup that has radically changed the concept this is 3YE (pronounced third eye). This group consists of three former members of the group AppleB which had a typical cute concept. Now 3YE have a badass concept or for me power girls concept. The group debuted in 2019 and has 4 singles (DMT, OOMM, Queen, Yessir) and 1 mini album. They are very cool girls, very charismatic with very strong choreos. And just like DC sing live. Сheck it out and you'll be amazed.
Regarding Dreamcatcher, they have long outgrown k-pop. This became especially noticeable in 2020. They act in a territory that no other k-pop group will ever enter in their lifetime. Right now, winning a Korean music show won't bring them anything. For 4 years, all Koreans who wanted to have already become their fans. Therefore, they should only use music shows as a means of promoting new songs and focus on global promotion.

Hihi, I've realised in a couple of your video the camera is always trying very hard to focus on you. It might be because of the lighting or the area of focus. Perhaps you can turn off the auto focus in the settings if you are able to and manually focus on where you will be, your video might turn better. Other than that, great video about dreamcatcher!
The only group I know of that swapped their style was CLC. But no where near the level of Dreamcatcher's change
