Nothing compares to the strike of a top water even on the missed strikes just keeps u going I will throw at times and after a couple of minutes nothing right away back to top water lol, even though before top waters plastics were my goto guess I throw what I have confidence in now, poor plastics must feel lonely in my bag lol
For tops I stick to the Skitterwalk & Spittin' Images....I routinely replace hook sets with 4 X'rs....some great info on the 3 major inshore species of finns around coastal Florida!!
@@FatBellyFishing Didn't know you left I assumed you were still around Pasco county....Well the bite is starting to pick up here...I'm trying to get on the water early in the next couple of days!!
Wes Lovelace I’m planning on fishing homosassa in the next week or so! I been in north Florida and visiting homosassa and Tampa like once every month or two
I prefer the MirroMullet in the surf because it retains the walk better vs chop/wave/current/wind bowing the line and dragging the lure. SkitterWalk still catches them when it's calmer though. Also I treasure the old YoZuri Banana Boat Jr. My best trout plug of all time, just as good on snook/reds for me as others, and in late Spring/early Summer I get mangrove snapper to eat it walking it across potholes on grassflats. Been trying to sort out a small popper/chugger but haven't found the Goldilocks yet.
Nice review n yep those 3 are my fav as well we started with that big bone color Heddon big reds have no issue but when I changed to the Heddon Super spook Jr, that thing is fire, the right now red and white Rapala has been money for snook but I like that white one as well, and mirrorlure I don't throw that mullet much but my baby is that old no paint she dog lol, need to get out on the water soon all I see are reds reds n reds lol great Info logan
Am I the only one that doesn't hear audio on bt speaker or phone speaker. I've tried top water and just have not been able to hook up. I'm usually it in mid day, afternoon, and evening. South of Tampa Clearwater. Nothing yet but I keep trying. I subscribed so i can listen later, looks like great info i need to hear.
The audio should work, close down the app and reopen it. Im from Clearwater and fish there everyday. I’d say I miss 70% of fish that hit top water and the ones that do eat it are usually bigger. So it’s kinda a lure for people that like watching the fish lol
Fishing With Bottles I know spooks are the best topwater other than a frog for bass in my opinion. I loved watching spook videos when I was younger of bass hitting them in open water and thanks buddy!
Great vid. I'm trying topwaters myself. I was wondering what do you think is the best line to use. I use braided main to light fluorocarbon leader. I've been told not to use braid but mono main, no leader. Suggestions?
John Campbell I use braided to light leader as well. I love my braid! I fish like a 12 or 15 pound power pro and then tie a 20 or 25 pound leader for all my fishing really. If the waters super dirty you can use heavier leader but if the waters super clear use 20 or less just don’t drag the fish in lol. I use 20 pound fluoro carbon leader. The Walmart stuff works just find. Fish can’t see it and tie maybe about 2 1/2 feet to your line
I subscribed and found this video to has some great tips and opinions keep it up bro check out the yozuri topknock pencil f i love the bone white color and the black top gold bottom or the silver bottom i caught my first jack cravelle this morning and a barracuda on the bone white
@@FatBellyFishing no problem man you'll have a blast with it i promise it walks incredibly good and the single knocker i think attracts predator fish more then rattlers in my opinion cant wait to watch the video
So I work with a Tampa local and I showed him this vid in da work truck and he said you was on point so I'm going to get those 3 to start my set up. I tried to get Tampa Tom to teach me but he don't want me to pass him up as a fisherman but he messed up when he got me to hit you up with that 1k 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I use one rod for everything basically and it’s a medium red bone rod. I think a 7’6. Now if I’m fishing for giant snook or tarpon I would do a bigger rod like maybe a heavy star rod or st croix
@@FatBellyFishing thanks man and do kindly guide me the size for miro lure top water and any good colour for spool jr. I was thinking for bone silver. Thanks
FatBelly Fishing thanks for the reply brother love the channel learned a lot man the larger one is the ssw11 I believe it’s 4 3/8 inches long Also have you ever used the Shad color in the skitterwalk ?

Nice video! I ❤️ the skitter walk and skitter v. I put VMC inlines on them and use Skitter V for slick water and the walk for chop water.
Walk in the chop is always good! Thank you for watching
What size VMC in-line hooks do you use?

@@FatBellyFishing we started freshwater but recently started going saltwater. Fishing at Moses Lake here in Texas City.

The bone color work almost all the time
ShragaMi, Fishing For The Soul I use the one color to start the day every time
Great video man I highly recommend you try out the rapala skitter v
Is that the bigger version?
I wish I would've seen this a year ago lol but no it just have a v cut in the belly of the bait that helps it walk a bit wider

Cassy Heathcote thank you
that bone color is sick!
Beast mode that’s the sauce
What size are you using I just picked up a rapala skitter walk in bone color 4-3/8” 5/8 oz your thoughts ?
I have only used the small one, never the bigger version
Do you use looop knot for top water lutes
Yes it lets it go side to side better
What water depth is good for topwater, 3 -5 ft
Yes I like it in 6 feet or less
What pound of line you using for that big redfish
I use 12-15 pound braid and then I use a 3 foot long leader that is 20 pounds
