Yeah i think you got the real point an M3 may be faster in synthetic benchmarks and in heavyloads (like video editing, heavy code compiling, etc.) even like the Max may have better results than a pro or a pro than a base chip. But the real question is for normal users does it matter in real life for the 95% not earning money with the device. And if you earn money can you turn the theoretical benefit in performance into real profit? And the answer will be No for most of us. Upgrading is a pure waste of money if you a) can't turn the investment into beeing more profitabel or b) you have a good usecase for the old device. For me its the case b) as my daughter allready asks For the M1 MBA but still i'm not convinced to upgrade probably if the M4 MBAs are available as you mention correctly the fanless design is really a big point. If the M4 MBAs will hae a 120 Hz display this would be probably the dealbreaker (or perhaps in the M5 generation) perhaps an additional port on the left side of the chassis. But after all i like the wedged design of the M1 more than the bulky design of the M2 an M3. As i don't have the experience on the M1 to be laggy in the daily use if have time to consume tons of popcorn.
Now that every Mac being sold now has 16 GB standard I don't think I could recommend the M1 w/ 16 GB anymore.
Thank you, your videos help my buying decision.

Incredible summary, thank you.
Apple upgraded M3 MacBook Air with 16 gb RAM at same price as previous version with only 8 gb this week. Still storage is same. Good deal now?
