  • In this video I showcase how I plan to maintain my pleather components using Angelus acrylic finisher.
Disclaimer: I don’t recommend you do this if you aren’t comfortable. This is something I chose to do myself.
I’m quite happy with the results but they may vary.

Did you add it to the belt as well? Thinking about picking this figure up as my first Hot Toys and want to make it last!

I did not but I’ve used 303 on the belt in the past. Just feel like the area most likely to suffer from any potential degradation would be the boots.

How did this hold up all these months later? Had to reapply or it's still good? Any other issues?

Hey thanks for asking! It has held up well. Although I don’t really pose the figure / articulate the ankles, the boots are still quite soft and flexible. I reapplied once since this video just for good measure. I personally don’t think the figure is quite old enough to experience any flaking issues yet. I also used this same product on the pleather ammo pouch on for my Captain Rex - but I used the Matte finish - and it turned out quite well also. I would say use at your own discretion. I’m not sure if I would do this on a brand new Darth Vader or anything but If I were to purchase an older figure with pleather components, I’d likely do this immediately to avoid any potential problems. But as I said, I wasn’t dealing with any as of yet. This was just a preventative measure.

@@DarthTamarus Thanks for answering, man! Yeah, I just got the reissue of Catwoman (Dark Knight Rises). The old one had REALLY bad flaking issues with her boots. Dunno, if they bothered to improve the material, as most of the changes where in sculpt and such. So, yeah, I'm toying with sealing her boots early on just in case. What's stopping me is that she IS new...so, I dunno!

@@thegillmanedits Yeah if it were me, I’d wait it out maybe a year or two. Depending on your climate, how long you plan on owning it, etc. I just received my Kenobi Vader and I can’t quite bring myself to do anything with him yet either but when the figure gets a bit older, if they never decide to announce a full leather suit - although there has been talk of the new Starkiller and Dark Empire Luke having some kind of different material for their suits - I can definitely see myself taking some preventative measures.

@@DarthTamarus Thanks for the advice, man. Calms the OCD tendencies I have toward these figs.
