  • NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk for medical advice. We've flagged this talk, which was filmed at a TEDx event, because it appears to fall outside TEDx's content guidelines. Gene therapy remains an emerging field of study. The speaker’s claims only reflect her personal views which are not corroborated by scientific evidence. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give organizers are described in more detail here: storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t...
Liz Parrish is the CEO of BioViva USA Inc, a company committed to increasing health span and combatting the biggest diseases of our time, the diseases of aging. Liz's talk introduces us to our species' age-long battle with disease, our successes and achievements, and our new modern enemies to ultimate health. By using the evidence of what science has achieved and what model organisms can tell us about our journey forward, Liz shows us that with the right mentality we can defeat our foes and obtain the "golden sceptre of health". With the current advances in gene therapy, we are on the brink of living very different lives with an unlimited amount of genetic choices. Did you know that your age is the risk factor in mortality? Listen to this talk and prepare yourself for the future.

No makeup, No hairdo. Just walked out with the truth. It was a great experience and RAW. It is hard for me to watch as I am used to all my accoutrements but I felt the world needed a talk with pure honesty. I wanted you to see me.

It's not the thirst for science made these presentations, but I can see the Love of a Mother to her Son made you stand here and gave us this boom light of expectation, no "The Future Reality"✨️✨️✨️

If nobody is trying to obtain immortality, how tf it gonna happen? how are there people seriously saying it’s impossible without trying everything? It’s incredible the kind of people that are responding here!

People are naturally negative to things that have never happened. There's a lot of people working in this field now and the results will start coming...and people will be shocked at how fast it comes once it really starts.

I experienced the feeling of helplessness in the face of fate through 2 of the most beloved people in the family, my mother and my wife. I wish you a long life and the support of all the positive energies on the planet to win this battle you`ve started.

Liz, excellent work. I love your enthusiasm and support your initiative.
    I have a few questions..
    1. I know you attempted to lengthen your chromosomes, you never confirmed if this was successful?
    2. If you delivered a gene that promotes muscle mass, wouldn’t this just be temporary? I remember seeing a home brewed lactose gene therapy experiment which only lasted 18 months which I assume would be about the same?
    3. If these therapies are temporary, would you have to take all of these over and over after a certain period ?
    4. Wouldn’t this temporary effect explain why your attempt at reversing biological aging was not successful?
    5. I believe you should have also targeted expansion of the mitochondria through gene therapy as I believe this has a better chance in longevity. Thoughts?
    6. Wouldn’t your immune system eventually build up against delivery of genes?

It’s amazing how out of grief or suffering stems technology and desires to overcome not only the Dilemma her son was facing ,but then now went on to be a field that in my opinion is spreading very fast. . People don’t think it’s moving along ,but I’ve since starred biology courses and have spread the word on aging and I’ve changed so many peoples minds on aging and I think humans as a hive mind will go on to do things we never imagine . Bravo 👏 . Keep up the amazing work . Everyone reading this also fight and be apart of this cause

That's the goal. I'm optimistic because the super rich don't want to age and die either and they're starting to spend their big money for research. Let's do this!

When is gene therapy for color blindness avaible? I think it is the most soght gene therapy on this planet. It affected over 300 million people and we lost our dreams and we also have been waiting for it for so long time. It was claimed that could cure red green color blindness in monkey in 2009, but till know we dont have clue when it is approved in human trials. Contact lenses or glasess is useless to correct our vision. We hope you proffessors, doctors, biologists and all of medicine expertises., please give us a miracle and spirit when we open our eyes in every morning🙏🙏🙏😭

This is vague and a bit sensationalist which I guess it needs to be for a TED talk XvX?? It's a lot of random things stitched together and there's no specific way mentioned here to 'cure aging', it isn't specified what 'aging' here is molecularly that you're attempting to cure, and 'gene therapy' is just vague; Any gene? It ends with a call to action but why would I undertake any action if I'm not told the specifics here... Why mention that some animals live to a hundred years without brain cancer... for a lot of animals this isn't due to a gene or protein but rather because they're large or their metabolism slow or their fertility windows large, and that is not that applicable to just... copy paste into a human being; If you make an embryo out of an old person's cells that doesn't mean you get an emrbyo with rejuvenated DNA it just means you made an embryo out of worn and torn DNA and it likely would have a lifespan left over similar to the person you took the genetic material from... Like I get what you're saying, this research should be used not just collected, but it should be explained how you're attempting to use it
I'm not doubting that you're doing exciting things but I can't help but feel like this is misleading, sorry if this isn't the mentality you're looking for ig
