I have watched this presentation before and needed to watch it again so I know there is hope for people. I learned today the daughter of a friend has at most a month to live because of cancer. My friend already lost her husband and son to cancer. It's too late for her daughter to receive this treatment but hopefully it will become widespread so people no longer need to suffer like my friend is, losing her husband and all of her children to cancer.
I found the presentation, enjoyable, gave hope. Some of the exciting and innovative thinking from gene therapy is coming out into reality, And I think it might have more people willing to volunteer for clinical trials. The improved survival time does help. It gave hope.
My sister, Elaine Burgess, just sent me this. I am sure there have been updates since your presentation and I would be very interested in learning more about your research. If you could forward citations to Elaine, I would be most appreciative. As a former pediatric oncology social worker for 30 years, I was very familiar with the treatment modalities for the many brain tumors in children and the impact on the patients and families. Your research has been of benefit to many and I thank you for your investment in Charlie.
I have a retinal disease that is slowly robbing me of my sight. Gene therapy looks promising but the enormous costs will prevent most people from accessing it.
Question: what happens if you modify cells that you didn't want to modify? Every cell in my body has the same DNA but does very different jobs, why does it matter if the wrong cell gets DNA it doesn't use?
Oh no... My mom has Parkinson's disease and dementia, and it's because of destruction of neuron cells to generate dopamine. And also I'm very depressive person. I guess it's a kind of genetic disease. I hope your grand daughter someday can be cured.
The world would be more peaceful if there were compassionate people like her i really admire her for the humanitarian work that will help millions

Please let the Gene Therapy come OUT !
There are millions of millions of people that need it
It’s completely insane when there are multiple methods to help and it’s all conjecture
