Preserving historical buildings is indeed a valuable way to honour a nation’s heritage and educate future generations. In Jamaica, there are efforts to protect and maintain historical sites, particularly those associated with national heroes like Paul Bogle. These sites are significant not only for their historical value but also for their potential to attract tourists interested in Jamaica’s rich history.

The sites should be maintained and accessible to all with the history documented on plaques with links to QR codes for further study. I started learning the truth behind jamaica's history by reading the journals of the plantation owners & their families that would visit. Also, doctors and authors that visited in the colonial years. You learn so much.
You can't count on school to teach you the true history of any country, you have to look for it yourself.
Jamaica's planter class were guilty of a lot, but there was also a mixed- black upper class that was complicit also.

Is there a historical /heritage society anywhere in Jamaica ? The University of the West Indies teacher's colleges, Member of Parliament for St Thomas and the citizens both locally and overseas should be interested in this topic.
Many people like myself have never seen or heard about these places in St.Thomas even after living there for many years. Some of these places could be restored and put in use today to keep them. In foreign lands the laws are structured to protect their history and they are used to earn enough for the upkeep. These are the things that some of us travel overseas and pay to see other people's stories while ours is ignored.

A huge shame on the Jamaican Government! If Paul Bogle had been a white man, those buildings would have been perfectly preserved and kept as shrines!
