You wonder why they couldn't give Xhaka the contract extension. Had he stayed we could have won the PL, 2 seasons later we buy Merino who is marginally younger(3 years younger) than Xhaka for 10 million more but doesn't have comparable PL experience. The same happened with Emiliano Martinez, we sold him for 16m then bought Ramsdel who is frankly an inferior player to Martinez for 8 Million more then sold Ramsdel for a loss and bought Raya for 30m. Had we just kept Matinez the club would have saved 40 million without any drop off in performance. Selling Xhaka and E.Martinez are the biggest blunders Edu Arteta have done and in the process making the club lose over 50 million. This is why an experienced sporting director is needed to recruit like Liverpool and never lose money cheaply...

Man, I feel you! Those decisions still sting. It’s like we’re playing football manager and someone keeps hitting the “sell” button instead of “keep.” Let’s hope we get it right next time! 😅

Arteta getting it wrong with the defense stuff. And again Merino and Rice can't work together. Mireno is more effective when he plays along Odegaard meaning Rice would have to play DM replacing Partey. Nwaneri is Odegaard successor. We should be thinking of a better option upfront the attack replacement for Saka and Havertz.

Merino gels better with Partey than he does with Rice. Moving Partey to RB to accommodate him is wrong. Two press resistant midfielders will give us an edge. Let rice sit out some games or come in later for some games when we need more defensive numbers coz going forward, Merino is better.

I havent wated it completely yet, but as an arsenal fan, the solution is simple. Get a true striker who can score goals and draw a presence in the box, and bench havertz and just have him come in as a sub. Havertz plays better behind a striker or beside a more threatening striker imo. As for merino, it just comes down to him being able to fit in the system. I dont think merino is the solution for control. Id say jorginho fills that demand needed more than anyone. Odegaard and partry are more attack minded. Declan really just seems more of an end to end, with control being secondary. I havent even seen jorgingo play in any matvhes this season.

Oh ffs. "wE nEeD A rEaL sTrikER" is such a silly claim. Arsenal doesnt have a lack of goal scorers. We scored the second highest number of goals last season, using no striker on the field at all, and barely any the season before that. Every "striker" has struggled at Arsenal because of the defensive responsibilities. defend like a team, attack as a unit. Our ability to create high quality chances dropped off because our chief creator was injured, hence our struggles (Same as city, no KDB, no 3-0 scorelines). Rice has been poor as an 8, Partey is just doing his thing but he isnt playing like he did last season, taking long range shots. Martinelli isnt running behind, Havertz barely gets the ball in the box.
