I was almost being a real whisky snob when I almost turned my back on buying Glendronach Port Wood because of chill filtration. Glad I bought a bottle. Absolutely loved it. Shared it with friends during Memorial weekend and they couldn’t get enough. Another great review. Cheers!

I went and bought a bottle based on your review and I’m so glad I did. While it’s non-age-stated, I get the feeling there’s some 12 or even 15 year whiskies in this bottle. The finish is wonderful with lovely spices, chocolate and toffee lingering as it slowly fades away. 92 points for me. At less than $100 it’s a steal. Better than some whiskies I’ve had that were close to $200.

Excellent review as always, my friends. In total wine it appears in the description with a declared age of 10 years, and I think that on the Glendronach page, they also mention it, greetings from LA, and I, like Bart, love port-influenced whiskeys !!

Just love these port finishes. Was lucky to pick up the single cask release #5287 last year 25 years old at 51% which was on another level! On the opposite end of age, have been really impressed by Penderyn Port casks, the 6yr old blew my mind for how young it was, no rough edges.

Some people here in the UK have been a bit down on Glendronach since the Brown Forman takeover and the introduction of chill filtration. I loved the old 15 and 18 but had been a bit wary of the new bottlings. It's good to see them still putting out good stuff and if I can get this one I will. Cheers guys!

I just revisited this bottle the other day when @Scotch on the Bayou featured Port finished whiskies. It's odd how certain bottles get lost behind others only to resurface months later. I was surprised it got lost considering how much I was enjoying it. I probably tasted it on a bad day and held that against it. I need to cut that out. ;)

The first release of the Port Wood said it was at least ten years old however it was written as “ten” in the little description at the bottom of the label. The releases now don’t say that but from what I’m told it’s still 10.

Glendronach apparently has a lot of issues with importers. Same deal in in parts of Canada, nothing available. Some 12 popping sporadically, then the port wood showed up. We've also had a Canada exclusive 10 yo PX sherry bottling, but that's it.

That is the $100 question. The GA seems to be all that but soft. The Glen Moray 21 is even softer berries and mellow but not to sweet. This GlenDronach sounds like a more exciting ride.
