I didn't see you address the distance from the subject to the green screen. The greater the distance the lessening of the shadows cast, hence easier extraction.
I'm sure you can use the selection tool to select your object without the need of a green screen, the green screen makes it easier to select the object but it's not unachievable if you dont have a green screen esp with photography.
I taught myself how to use photoshop about 15 years ago and if I remember correctly there is a lasso tool you can use to cut out the subject, with the right amount of feathering you can definitely do it without a green screen and still make it look clean.
To do this green screen trick you don't need Photoshop specifically. You could do it with any photo editing software that allows you to remove backgrounds and introduce layers to add a new one.
they probably give you more control to use a backdrop for greenscreen. With apps, you're left at the mercy of the algorithm and sometimes it's hard to make adjustments if it doesn't give you the best cut out :-)
When you 'Paste into' the selection Photoshop creates a mask so you can use that to paint (with white foreground colour) and refine any edges you didn't get with the magic wand tool :-)
The magic wand tool may possibly be in a sub menu of the quick selection tool on your vertical toolbar in PS. Look about 3-4 icons down for that wand-looking icon :-)
Yes thats right! Basically you're looking to use colours that don't appear in your subject/outfit. So with browns, creams and greens then think about using blues or even a solid red background :-)
Follow the directions. 1. Make your selection using the magic wand tool. 2. Make a 'copy' of your new background 3. Return to your original image, make it active 4. Use 'Paste Into' and PS will insert your new background in to the selected area :-) Hope that helps! :-)
How did you clean it up up around the hair?....I feel like I watched the entire video for you to skip over the part of fine tuning the green screen... lol help!
There are a number of ways to remove backgrounds around hair but providing your subject doesn't have messy hair then using the magic wand tool on the green/blue background it should select enough to make the distinction between hair and background clear to cut out. You can always use 'refine selection' in Photoshop to make further adjustments, or use a layer mask and mask out the background really slowly. It depends how much time/patience you have :-)
you can use lots of different software. We didnt use a mobile app in the video, it was Photoshop CC. Though I'm sure there are apps out there that will do the same kind of thing.
Sorry for the really late reply. We're not familiar with Kinemaster but if it has a chromakey tool similar to Premiere Pro's then it should work fine for video or use Photoshop for stills :-)
One Question: is it Hard to make a Video and in the Backround be Something else or do You have to do the Same thing for every frame of the video? Because you're moving and all? I hope its easy so i Dont have to edit too much when i become a YTB.
When it comes to video green screen Marius, you can use Premiere Pro's Chromakey tool to select the green background and overlay a new background which will track throughout the scene so you don't have to do it for each frame :-)
I’m sick and tired of all these youtubers trying to teach you some thing and they leave out all of these details like what are you editing these pictures on ... what software wtf
How to edit starts at 04:40
Thanks
Thanks a lot

I've been a product photographer for years but just recently I was rethinking backdrops. I found this video to have a very useful perspective.

Depends on how strong your light source is and how much light.

how do you get that background there I don't know how to insert background
So Ai potraits does the same without having a green screen?
You're right, it's starting to take over, but this is still helpful for photographers who don't want to go down that route :-)
She should be in the next Conjuring movie.
From Kenya in November 2022, thank you very much.
Do you have to use photo shop to do editing?
To do this green screen trick you don't need Photoshop specifically. You could do it with any photo editing software that allows you to remove backgrounds and introduce layers to add a new one.
What lens size is best for portrait photography

What is the website you use for Greenscreen editing photos on?
Photoshop CC :-)
What is this website or app called
Photoshop was used for the editing, but we're iPhotography.com if you want to start a course :-)
Now a days in photography you don't need to mask the background to do that. You can easily mask the person and change the background with few clicks.
What is the software called thanks
we used photoshop to edit the images together :-)
Do green background/backdrops work better for photoroom app which is a white backround changing app. Anybody know?
they probably give you more control to use a backdrop for greenscreen. With apps, you're left at the mercy of the algorithm and sometimes it's hard to make adjustments if it doesn't give you the best cut out :-)
What software did you use? Do you know any free or affordable software to use to create … I have a green screen?
Photoshop was used to edit the image together in the video, but you could follow a similar process in something like Affinity Photo :-)
What photoshop software?
Photoshop CC
Thank you. That was very helpful
glad you found it useful :-)
Wat website do u use?
For the editing? It was done in Adobe Photoshop CC. But you can check out our courses website - www.iphotography.com/
That was an amazing transformation!
Thank you!!! :-)
So you used the brush tool with white for the foreground color to fine tune those green edges??
When you 'Paste into' the selection Photoshop creates a mask so you can use that to paint (with white foreground colour) and refine any edges you didn't get with the magic wand tool :-)
This helped me very much thanks
You're super welcome Danica, thanks for watching :-) Stephen
i cant find the magic wand tool is there another way to access it?
The magic wand tool may possibly be in a sub menu of the quick selection tool on your vertical toolbar in PS. Look about 3-4 icons down for that wand-looking icon :-)
Thank you. Great instructional video.
you are SO welcome! Thank you :-)
Thanks 🙏🏾
Just pointing out that your mic is giving too much gain noises. I would recommend getting a Zoom H6 and plug in your mic in
If my subject is wearing camo would i be better off using a blue screen?
Yes thats right! Basically you're looking to use colours that don't appear in your subject/outfit. So with browns, creams and greens then think about using blues or even a solid red background :-)
iPhotography very helpful! Thanks!

Follow the directions.
1. Make your selection using the magic wand tool.
2. Make a 'copy' of your new background
3. Return to your original image, make it active
4. Use 'Paste Into' and PS will insert your new background in to the selected area :-)

Is one better than the other( blue vs.green)
Not really Cae, use green if your subject is wearing blue and use blue if your subject is wearing green. :-)
What Software you used?
Photoshop CC :-)
Very helpful ❤️
Really glad you enjoyed it Shantell :-) We'll be uploading new videos soon. Stephen, iPhotography Head Tutor
How did you bring the background picture in when at first it wasn’t there?
The background is a separate file. All you need to do is follow the Photoshop steps in the video to import the new background :-) Thanks

Is the photoshop used just a standard version or will I need a Deluxe/Pro version of photoshop to achieve this type of effect using a green screen?
you can use any version of Photoshop CC to do this. You may struggle with using a mobile app version or elements. :-)
