Wow! Beautiful lady with a beautiful voice. I so want to move to Paris and paint and write poetry and drink coffee all day ....i don't even like cofee..
This is one of those karmic coincidences in life. First time I was travelling in Europe (with my family), Paris was our second stop. We were staying right down the street from Montmarte, near Moulin Rouge, and we made our way up to see the painters. I remember sitting at a random cafe near the center when I heard this faint guitar strum and a woman's voice. I passed it off as just some music playing nearby. Moments later, this beautiful woman walked past with a cameraman hovering around her as she played and sang down the street. It made me smile and want to live in Paris at some point in my life (yet to do so, but there's a lot of life left). That image was stuck in my head ever since. It was the second most memorable moment of that trip for me (the first being vising Jim Morrison's grave in Pere Lachaise). Back home in India, we didn't have the amazing internet we have today so I had given up hope on ever finding who that woman was and what song she was singing. Just the image remained. Until the TH-cam algorithm suggested this song to me last week. I immediately recognised the girl and the place. That's me and my sister sitting at the cafe around 2:57. I now know the song and the artist, and I love both.
BarbaraDayDream Emotions stir, like Clouds sticking, and Sounds of shocking thunder. You wonder as you duck. Hows it possible to be stuckup? Not implying that to you. Me and words poetry thats what I like to do. Words can be sleep. Your voice could be dead. Running in your mind but havent even got out of bed. Random thoughts based on what you've said.
"Her voice sounds like a smile after an unexpected compliment." (This descrption it's not mine... comes from another video of her music, but deserves to be here... )
I've watched this video several times over the years. I always remember it, and I come back to it. Something about it always touches me. It's hard to describe why.
i really REALLY love not only this song but the background noise. it makes me just want to read books all day with this on repeat. it's so soft ugh *clutches chest*
I love her musics so much that I made two karaokes of her songs, the Unstoppable and the Wonderful ;) if you want to sing to it, just search Lianne La Havas wonderful or unstoppable Karaoke or search on my youtube page (Vlad Segundo) and you will find it ;)
Yeah he instantly was filled with a little bit of joy hearing her and seeing her. And the guy that passed right in front of her I think looked at her and said "damn" or at least made that kind of face and the camera pans around to her and she's smiling.
He sounds a bit sarcastic and disdainful, don't you think? I like the ebullience of the "someone's making a music video!" right before though (in what I think is a New Zealand accent:-)
the contradiction of this video serves its beauty. how could a video in a busy Paris street be so so intimate, so divine, so gentle? I've been in tears several times to this video. love it x
I just realized I keep coming back to this video for years now. Whenever I need something to restore my hope for anything, for humankind perhaps ... there she goes and does it.
12 years ago I heard this song, couldnt get it out of my head but i knew i had the song saved on an old laptop. Today was the day I dug up that old laptop, found a way to charge it up and find the song and name of the artist! Loved this Song its still as beautiful as it was back then!
i can't believe how many beautiful moments this video has in it, the man sitting next to the drawing of a woman, the waiter's whole expression before and after seeing her, the guys walking next to her telling her she's "up and coming". beyond touched by the spontaneous beauty of this ♥
This is my favourite video on the internet. I actually worry that one day it will be taken down and I won't be able to access it anymore. I adore the part where the street performer plays the castanets in time with the music
this is probably the music video I visit the most often over the years - so many of the sensory factors in this, primarily Lianne's undeniable talent -- I get such a major blast of serotonin!
She is literally the warmth of sunshine and serotonin. Her and Goat Rodeo Sessions are the ones I revisit the most out of nowhere to get an extra boost of soul-warmth
Dauntes I hate it when people discard "musicians today" as if they're all trash... If you look and have an open mind you will find modern talents such as Lianne. Great music is still in our future.
LOL, with respect, my comment was literally meant to express how lucky we are to have things like TH-cam and the Internet so that videos like this can be saved and passed onto future fans. I'll grant you I was drunk when I made the comment, so it could have been expressed more clearly, but there it is. :P
I think he was agreeing - as in yes, this generation is great, despite what people may say. I think both of you are sharing the same message. And I agree. Every generation likes to believe art from earlier generations was better. But it's easy to say what art is great when we have an understanding of it in hindsight, harder to recognize great art when it's new. But not impossible. I too am drunk
I was on a vacation with my parents and I remember hearing her singing from a block, i chased the sound and I heard the line. We all make mistakes. This hit me hard, because i was 18 and was having a rough time with everything in my life because overthinking and didn’t know how to solve it. Now i have a kinda decent and fixed life, and sometimes i think this is what got me into the correct path. To me was kinda of a revelation, thanks for the video, even if i am 6 years late to it.
Dear La Blogothèque, I have been watching this exact video for years now; even sometimes on repeat. A piece of art which converts all the city´s sound into music; I could not have imagined this song without those sounds, motorcycle, kids, tourists, etc., every single audible property becomes music. After exploiting your video for years (surely, I love the other take away shows too), I want to say thank you. This one is artistically amazing.
Beautiful beyond words. Lovely scenario, song, singer, girl... She's even cooler for being able to play the guitar in heels while walking in the middle of a bunch of people and still making it all sound perfectly amazing.
If I had the privilege of witnessing Lianne walking down the street singing I think I'd cry. Not out of some overwhelming delight of meeting someone famous, but out of the sheer beauty of the performance.

I already commented somewhere here someday, but while I listen to this a few rare times to always re-feel the special feeling I get from listening and watching this video, I have to comment again. This is for me the most beautiful video I have ever seen in my life. It has some kind of a magic I can't describe. Thank you and love to everyone! Also welcome to everyone who is new here :) You found the right place, if you wanted to step into a good hearted community! hehe.
Not sure why watching this beautiful young lady walking in Paris suddenly brought a tear to my eye...the angelic, soulful voice or the lyrics themselves...I've always wanted to go...
I always come back to this video to just be awestruck and imagine like Im right there. Dont think there's a better public live performace than this one on Yt. Most of the other stuff are dubbed anyway, so this one is not just a gem, but a rarity.
A real musician; Lianne can pick up a guitar and walk down the street playing in public, and still sounds amazing... so many wouldn't be capable of this
I love this song, especially this version. I know it's shot in Paris but it reminds me so much of warm summer nights walking around the streets off Grande Place in Brussels
i love how she sometimes made mistakes when singing "we all make mistakes" and near the end, the mime percussions seems synchronized with her song. lovely performance..
I first listened to this years ago, and I'm so glad I remembered it, theres something so magical about the beautiful song and the perfect balance between her voice and all of the characters of Paris that she weaves through - this video is pure bliss, and is still one of my favourite on TH-cam.
This eminates warmth and humanity. Warm guitar tone, warm voice, warm color grading, the sound of happy bustling life on a street. A message of forgiveness, produced technically perfectly. Perfect.
this video is the best distillation of what is so amazing about being alive and being able to experience. music always helps remind me of what and why we do the things we do. thank you lianne.

I’d really, really like to know what kind of amp that is..
I know myself to be sentimental after three bottles of wine, but - for what it's worth: This is soo beautiful!
Yesterday I actually turned on this song while walking on the street in Paris. I've waited 10 years to be able to do it. Such a magical moment

You have amazing storytelling ability. I also got goosebumps reading this.
Still beautiful in 2024, and always will be.
✨💯
If I had to pick one TH-cam video to come back to every year, this would be it.
Indeed. This vid always puts a smile on my face.
The sound of plates and silverware make this feel so real raw and authentic.
God she's like a walking poem. Beautiful

It’s rare a song gets better each time you hear it. What an absolute gem.
Goal: to walk this same path in Paris, whilst listening to the same song in my headphones.
James Jullies beautiful goal
Yes. I think the same. I wanted to do it with a bobby Valentino song. Listen and walk down Melrose LA. Went to LA I forgot lol
I walked where she walked. It's a divine space to occupy. May your goal come to be. 🙏

Uhm, so is no one going to comment how she's walking in those high wedges, singing, and playing the guitar like the angel she is? So inspired by her!
lyrics
You caught me, guilty
Taking the pieces of you
That night, you took flight
I couldn't decide what to do
I won't let a safe bet
Continue to make me go blue
I could go solo
Would that be the right thing to do?
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
I tiptoe, too slow
Out of the door to your house
I know you know
That this way leads me out
Outside, too bright
You're within I'm without
You're within
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
Please sleep softly
Leave me no room for doubt
Please sleep softly
Leave me no room for doubt
Please sleep softly
Leave me no room for doubt
Please sleep softly
Leave me no room for doubt
Leave me no room for doubt
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
We all make mistakes, we do
I learnt from you
Oh
Please sleep softly
Leave me no
Please sleep softly
Leave me no room for doubt
Trying to understand what she meant by, please sleep softly, leave no room for doubt.
