I miss this series. It was just a lovely gentle comedy without the swearing or violence. Just perfect.

Absolutely love this show. It hits all the right cords. It's funny, it's sad, it's dramatic, it's relatable. People can see themselves in similar roles and situations. It's tugs on the heart strings. I can watch it with my 23 year old son, or my 85 years grandmother. Everyone gets something out of it. It was very sad when Geoffrey passed away. I have watched the entire series multiple times, and will continue to do so, with the same enjoyment of it's first season. The grandmother has gone now, but I think of her every time I watch a re-run, as she also got so much enjoyment from it.
This series cannot be improved on. Perfect. Can view over & over. Tremendous cast! Just the best.
Watched that show for years. Loved it all every time I watched lt. Over and over. Sorry to hear of Geoffreys passing. That whole cast matched perfectly. R.I.P. Geoffrey.
Remember growing up as a kid in Brooklyn and watching this show every Saturday on pbs . I love this and the whole cast . My mom met the actress who played Sandy and told me she was very sweet and kind . Such an awesome show can’t wait to order my dvd collection and watch again ❤️

My mom and I both loved this show so much. It was so funny but such a beautiful love story and all of them were fantastic. I’ve watched them over and over. One of the best series ever.❤️
Such a perfect combination of talents, one of those shows you return to over and over. It has a sense of familiarity and comfort that is hard to find nowadays.
So true. As they say “ They don’t make them like that anymore “ I always looked forward to it so much every week. It’s just not the same since that show went off the air. They don’t show it on PBS anymore. 🥲😟

If you enjoy a quality gentle comedy try Detectorists. The language is as clean as As Time Goes By but it’s never mean or crude at all. Well worth the watch 😊

As Time Goes By remains my absolute favourite comedy series from the BBC. Gentle storyline, humour, a story about finding love (again) late in life. Nothing has bettered it
It was the characters that made this show. They are so relatable. I would watch these with my mum and dad and they would nudge each other and say, “that’s you”. That’s what made them so funny.

All of them loveable characters. My adult children also fans. I looked forward to it every week. A little disappointed that I had a week before I got to see more. On occasion I’ll pull the dvd out to binge watch. I still love it. Thank you cast and crew for a love that continues. Rock on! 💙❤️💚🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

I’m so, so, SO happy that PBS in the US carries this series on a regular basis!! I’ve seen it since it was on air, watch every re-run I can find. Was extremely magical in a non-flamboyant way…pure perfection!!! Thank you everyone involved for bringing such a beautiful show to life!!

I'm probably a member of a younger audience than this show was made for but I loved this show. Every member of the cast was perfect for the role. As an Australian I love British TV.

I love this show and am still watching it every day in 2023 even though I have already seen every episode many times.
The one i enjoyed the most was when he was hard of hearing & then had his ears syringed and then all was well, it was hysterical !!!

I knew one couple who were in love and through misadventure lost contact with one another for twenty-five years. They were ecstatic to find one another again, married and remained steadfastly devoted to one another for the remainder of their lives. So, don't think for a moment that the premise for As Time Goes By couldn't happen in real life!
Such fine interviews. I don't usually follow sit coms but this one I loved.
My favorite show. I still watch even though I've seen every episode like 50 times. I always wish they were my family.

Still love watching this.. I’ve watched it so many times. I can’t think of nothing better than making a coffee and sitting down to watch this. Was in London once with my family down from Newcastle and we went for a walk around Holland Park .. It was lovely.. R.I.P Mr Palmer..
What I love so much about the show is it’s a nice quiet comedy with well written natural humor. It does not have a 30 minutes
of a cheesy laugh track and one liner after another. They all felt like real people that you have known for years. It’s very cozy and safe when you need it.
I deeply, deeply miss this series. It’s hard to explain, but every aspect of it made me feel somehow like I was home.

A superb show in every sense. We have the box set, and re-watch it regularly. It’s just as funny and clever and warm on the 10th time through. Perfect cast, perfect writing.
“Gentle comedy” is exactly why so many of us love this show. I have all the dvds and still pay for Brit Box to get this and Keeping Up Appearances, Are you being served? and Absolutely Fabulous. This show is something I can fall asleep to, listen to while I’m doing chores, or watch while I’m having my lunch. I never grow tired of the episodes.
First came across this series when I was in England so many years ago ~ fell in love with it and was so delighted when it came to the U.S. and Mom and I could giggle and laugh together ~ memories ✨
Always sorry we never had a Christmas episode...and really wish there had been a stag/hen night...Penny and Stephen would have stolen the show. Wonderful programme, really miss it.
I ADORE this series. Watch and rewatch every episode multiple times. As far as "gentle comedies" the UK no longer makes? I nominate Last Tango in Halifax. Look it up. EXCELLENT!

Always looked at as romance with humor thrown in, and as far as Lionel character hoes he was in Kenya during The Mau Mau uprising and it was bloody and him being an officer he would have been in involved in the suppression of it
That’s the feeling I get when he talks about shooting his dog, a lot of darkness he went thru with no one to share it with
I find myself rewatching this series again and again and never tire of it. Love it 😍

This was one of the sitcoms (I think it's more than that, more like a look in the life of a typical British family) you enjoyed taking time for, sit down and relax and enjoy the talent of actors like Geoffrey Palmer and not in the least Judy Dench (I'm a big fan of her).... two more actors I would have loved to have been able to see live on stage...
This is one of the most wonderful English Series every! I have all the DVD'S that I still watch. I just loved ALL the characters. I'ts such so shame that won't pick up where they stopped. I do know there aren't any writers like they had when this was written. Lionel actually he was my favorite next to Dame Dench. When I heard he was gone I got really 😔. Never be another group of actors like them!
Love this series, I have the boxset so can watch it anytime 😊 it's funny and poignant and I absolutely love the house that Jean (Judy Dench) lives in, it's so cosy and lovely.
Geoffrey was always great in everything he did, but this show is where I fell in love with Dame Judi Dench! Thanks to the entire cast for a lot of good years!

It’s the only series where my father knew it chapter and verse. That wasn’t his way but it was with this show.

@@johnsaunders2109 I've heard of the saying before but it doesn't apply to this series. This series is stunning. The acting is exquisite and is the writing. Anything but boring! Hence why I was and still is so popular internationally. Fact.
One of the worst sitcoms ever produced. I love Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer but unfortunately this series is badly acted, badly cast and bad storylines that made no sense. So you have the two main characters both of whom I love but as far as the rest are concerned rest quite sad how bad they are.
