another raid(or any other heavy p2w game) placement and i'll unsub for sure. The game has predatory monetization and you make it sound like it's a good game?
Only in Gen 1 do OHKO moves work on targets that are on a higher level. From Gen 2 onwards OHKO moves need the user to be at least the target's level, so that's why they aren't viable for Lapras.
it's worth noting that the ohko moves would not have worked on lapras either way due to its higher level iirc, bike dismounts save the most time if the background music (bgm) remains the same when going from one area to another. this is because dismounting the bike immediately returns the bgm to the default one so dismount before leaving an area prevents the game from having to deload the bike bgm *during* the load
@@PulseEffects This does mean that Cloyster was also technically OHKO-able, although it wouldn't have mattered much since the Lapras kill was such a giant framerule
Honestly, I'd love to see a Speedrun animation of this Clefable, considering how it goes through the whole run with almost nothing but Megaton punches & kicks that have, going by the description, "muscle-packed power". Fun analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
I personally think Pokemon speed runs should divide into multiple categories based on starter choice. One will always be fastest, but I wanna know what the fastest Charmander run is like, or in Kalos the best of each combo of starters.
Sooo there is isn't really enough room on the main boards for that, but there is a leaderboard where you can find these different Pokemon runs on! Just gotta dig through the category extension leaderboards. www.speedrun.com/pkmnfrlgext?h=Alt_Main_Pokes-charizard&x=9d8o81w2-wlewjgxl.mln948oq
This was insane. Just wow. Also I love this series where you talk about the speedruns and about the tas runs. Thanks for the content bud and keep it up!
12:19 In case anybody is confused, a "rerecord" in the context of a TAS is just any time the TASer presses "load savestate" to retry a segment, not them starting the TAS over from the beginning.
Still waiting for the new credits warp any% TAS. Funnily enough that one also uses Metronome, purely to be able to call the move Recycle which is necessary for activating the credits warp and is otherwise extremely slow to gain access to.
I followed the competitive battling scene since Gen 1 and Clefable only began to soar once it got Magic Guard in Gen 5 - and then the Fairy typing in Gen 6 with it having access to Softboiled made it an ever-present menace. Its base stats ront really lean in any specific direction but between Cosmic Power/Stored Power, Calm Mind/a stupidly wide movepool inherited from its Gen 1 days, Softboiled, Wish, Thunder Wave, Toxic, Magic Guard, Unaware and even stupid things like Meteor Mash... Clefable can be anything it wants and fill any niche it wants. There are enough matches where someone didnt pay respect to Clefable and lost because of it. This feels like a documentary of a quieter time that had its own trials and tribulations. Gen 3 is way before Clefable ascended to the ever-present menace that it is today, and it still teared shit up.
I hate clicking into a video thinking some interesting story is going to happen, just for it to be ANOTHER TAS. *EDIT* TO BE CLEAR, THE ORIGINAL TITLE SAID “How speedrunners broke Fire Red and Leaf Green” which is a significantly more misleading title.
I personally love the science behind TASs and I feel the story behind this one is worth telling! If it's any consolation though, this is probably the last one I'll cover for a bit!
I disagree. It is "the best" because it's the fastest. It's a little less obvious in this title than some of his others but I don't think Pulse Effects is being misleading.
Man, I'd love to see someone calculate what the actual odds are of a human pulling off this run. Pokemon TASes in general are some of the most ridiculous amounts of RNG manipulation of any game I can think of.
Yo I can prove I've been playing Raid Free To Play for three years and got to end game having a lot of fun along the way. Takes a shit load of time daily though, so I stopped playing eventually.

Nope.
Absolutely not. Make your bag I guess, but Raid is an awful game filled with predatory monetization.

Watch me Arcawhip. Now watch me Arcaneenay.
Magneehmitee. La Prah. Neenaytails. Bye Sharp. Ahlteariaah. Hacsouris.
The people complaining that this video is about a TAS are the same type of people that say everyone is using the same team on VGC videos 💀
Trainer:by mom I'll be champion today(leaves)

Pokémon yellow speedrun in a nutshell
Trainer from Pallet Town visits all eight gyms and beats the Elite Four within two hours. More at 11.

I watch FlygonHG, so it didn't even register to me, lmao

Gonna be honest, i'm shocked the TAS is only 15 minutes behind the human. Considering what the TAS is doing, i could expect it to be alot faster
6:23 looks like I'm the best at missing moves lol
love being included pulse ❤
Love your coverage of TAS speedruns! Keep the content coming, dude!
Absolutely amazing that the real world record is only 15 minutes slower than a freaking tool-assisted speedrun.
babe wake up PulseEffects just uploaded
When I heard mkdasher my jaw hit the floor. That man was such a legend of Mario kart ds. I didn’t know he was still around this made me so happy
Haha, he actually has done so much for Pokemon as well! Including revolutionizing Pokemon HeartGold SoulSilver Speedruns.
That art is amazing. (Clefairy is my favorite pokemon!)😊
Can't recommend enough following the artist on Twitter! She's fantastic! twitter.com/BluefireMochi
Ark ah knee nay 💀
That Arcanine pronunciation hit me like a mental flashbang

9:50 is this quick claw quirk real??? its not even mentioned in bulbapedia, i wonder if its even implemented in showdown
It's 20% plus the regular 50% for being a speed tie, it's not a mechanic quirk it's just the probabilities in how they stack
I think its interesting how something as simple as it not being a type introduced in a later generation makes this entirely possible.
It would be funnier if the last move was explosion while having 2 mons party
another banger video
When I originally played Pokémon Yellow Clefable was one of my favorites.
I deem this video a good omen because I was thinking about adding Clefairy to my team in Leaf Green.

I find it interesting Clefable ended up improving both the Gen1 and Gen3 Kanto TAS
Bro you deserve so many subs. These videos rock
Arcaniney ? HUH ?!
I wonder if anyone's considered going faster in order to get a better time.
Cool ! But I wish you had add which moves metronome had made us for when killing Agatha’s ghosts and Lances dragons.
I love the Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories music in the background ;)

It's comment section engagement bait.

You can tell the remakes are faithful because normal type is still OP.

Would they be able to manipulate a Chansey to spawn in the safari zone with a lucky egg and then catch it? And would that egg be useful?
Why do you give multiple pronunciations for Pokémon names?
Well done, made me re think how i built my clefable and much potential ive wasted 😌
13:00 FlygonHG moment
Your vids are making me want to finish Violet
I was really hoping for it to end with explosion.
Tool assisted or not that was still pretty freaking cool
God i love the celeste ost
We love your videos
"Arche-Nay-nay" lmao
I respect the title change lol. Love TAS runs and their rng exploits but it felt a little clickbaity. Great video
A normal types ends up being the speedrun choice again for a GBA game.
