OMG These arms and the small leg prep is what I use to do naturally, before I was corrected again and again and again. I'm not a dancer anymore but good to know my instincts were right!
The question about how she choreographs pieces was really interesting. I use to teach dance to kids and teens, and also did a lot of solo work back when I was still with my studio. I always found that playing a song that I really connected to emotionally would then lead onto an image in my mind of what the story of the dance could be about, etc. I would choreograph everything on the spot but record it so that I didn’t forget it and could watch it back and change parts of it if needed. Also, her being known for her consistency with turns is so right. I remember so many people only talking about her turns, or when she was on Dance Moms everyone was focusing on her crazy turn combos because they knew she would deliver.
