I was a small boy, nine years old, when my father was stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base during the Korean War. This was back int the early fifties, during what was the WWII recovery. It was a beautiful place even then. However, this walking tour absolutely overpowered me in the magnificent planning and building that has taken place here. This is truly a model of what all the twenty-first century cities should have become. Tachikawa literally blows away every city in the rest of the world, particularly the US. I would love to be able to go back there to live out my twilight years. Thank you so much for sharing.
Tachikawa city's population is 184,400. The city size is only 24.36km2, very small. There used to be US military(air) base till 1977. After the base returned to Japan, part of the base has been transformed to a large Show-Memorial park, and some other part of it to shopping area. In 1998 the monorail opened and it was extended to Tama-Center sta.
@@奥津勝平 My dad was stationed there also, I was born at Tachikawa hospital. Planning to walk Showen -Kinen Park, Where my house used to be. Yes Ill meet you there!
Bro ,after all the cities I have moved to behind being a Super Brat Kid, I will never forget your quote "Tachikawa literally blows away every city in the rest of the world, particularly the US. I would love to be able to go back there to live out my twilight years." Salute and a shout out to my Parents Charles Dewitt Parker & Naomi Catherine Parker! who came from Delaware & Baltimore to travel to Tokyo back in 1956! what a life!
The pedestrian street with the railway above it reminded me of the 1950 view of what the future streets would be like. It looks a very nice place to walk. Also those steps with the water flowing down one side looked good
I used to live in Kunitachi a couple of years ago but worked and spent most of my time in Tachikawa. It gives me such a warm feeling to be able to see such familiar places. Thank you for your hard work!
Thanks for your video, its a nice walk! Is Tachikawa a relatively newer developed district? The layout is similar to other areas with pedestrian walkway bridge connecting department stores with the metro station as the starting point.
Nice video, but... You didn't go up the stairs at 22:41 and that made me curious, so you can go back and record what's up there. 😅Joke! 😉👍The ride was nice.
Actually I did go up there to check what’s up there before shooting this video. But there was nothing! What you can enjoy up there is to turn around and come downstairs. 😁😁😁
Now i see you are recording using possibly latest iphone .I see this quality on my TV with HDR . Plus your audio is binaural so you are using binaural mic .So i am myslef thinking whats good for me .Such binaural audio or just dji mic wifi for city sound .Cheers.
🚶✌️👍 Extra, good job 👌🤝 Wow nice view, I like to see new places ✌ Great movie 👍 Bravo 👋 And I have a new movie from a walk around the city 😊 Regards, DJ Janusz from Warsaw Poland ✌ 🇵🇱✋
