      @@Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo Thanks Mr. Tengu...I'll give it a try and test it for a couple of days. I have to replace the Wire loop maybe with 1/4 inch copper tubing, then deploy it in a semi permanent location. The information you provided is very valuable to us all. At what height did you place your MLA30 antenna?

    Excellent video, thank you! If I wanted to minimize bleed over or cross modulation from strong Medium Wave signals, does it matter if I adjust the gain screw in the box at the loop or the attenuator screw in the box at the power source? Or are they basically doing the same thing? Thank you

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. Thank you for visiting. If MW cross-modulation occurs, adjusting the loop box potentiometer will improve it.
      The attenuator is attached to the power supply side (bias-T side). No adjustment is required for communication type receivers. If you adjust it when receiving with a normal shortwave radio, the reception distortion may be improved. I wish you success.73s!!

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello, Mr. Brian Veitenheimer. The total rotation angle of the potentiometer is approximately 300 degrees. I turn right about 180 degrees. I turned it about 120 degrees to the left. Different products have different default locations. I think it's good to mark with a marker before turning. Thanks for watching.73s Tengu

      I rotated mine counterclockwise until it reaches the end stop which was less than 90 degrees. I'll leave it there for the time being. Brilliant.

    Hi, how does this perform compared to a long wire antenna?

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. This antenna is a small-diameter magnetic loop antenna with a built-in differential amplifier circuit and a high-cut filter that blocks the FM band. I think it is suitable for receiving long-distance shortwave broadcasts in areas with a lot of electromagnetic noise in urban areas or areas with strong FM radio waves. However, since there is internal noise from the general-purpose video amplifier used in the amplification circuit and boost inverter noise from the power supply circuit, I think it is inferior to a properly tuned long wire antenna installed in the suburbs with less electromagnetic noise. Thanks for the message.

    I have seen some videos, in which is said, that the delievered antenna cable is crap and should be replaced through a thicker cable. Also a BNC-connector should be build in.

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. Thank you for viewing. Changing to a BNC is easy. However, the effect is limited. This is because the attenuation rate of the signal amplified by the MLA30 is relatively small compared to the attenuation rate of the original signal.

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, that's right. But the circuit is hardened with resin. It seems difficult to modify. By the way, if lower the gain a little, there will be no cross modulation even at night. The sensitivity seems to be good. I will challenge Africa reception with this antenna tonight. Thanks for watching.73s!

    Is that a pirate 10000 kHz signal or off center on 9999 or 10001 kHz.

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, this SG outputs 10,000 kHz (10 MHz). I do not know the reason why the change with MW occurred. The radio side is a rig, so I don't think the MW signal will saturate. It is assumed that something has happened on the antenna side. Thanks for watching.73s Tengu

    Interesting. Have you noticed there's another potentiometer in the power unit? Do you know what that does? It is marked ATT. Presumably it means attenuator. Maybe it does the same thing.

      Hello, Thank you very much for watching. The coaxial cables of the MLA -30 are thin and cheap, so they are often affected by electromagnetic noise. I think it is better to change it to RG 58/U.73s!!

    Hello Sir, wouldn't it make sense to adjust it in the middle of its band? At 15MHz? Also I have noticed that there are some trimming potentiometers in the bias-T box.

    • @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo
      @Ken.s_BCL-LogVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I think it is better to adjust at the frequency you use often. Yes, as you say, the bias T-box has a built-in output attenuator. Thank you for your comment.73s Tengu🌈📻
