I loved Cassandra. She actually did her job as a teacher. She was unnecessarily mean by calling students names and stuff, but she actually taught her students.

Does not make it right of course, and Cassandra had huge boundary issues with her students, but she wasn’t wrong in her criticisms of Rachel and Rachel should have been willing to listen to someone who didn’t think she was God’s gift to earth if she wanted to improve. She needed to be challenged.

Cassandra is the anti-Schue. While Mr. Schue praised Rachel’s talents, what he has actually inadvertently done was shielded Rachel from the much needed criticism that Rachel needed. Cassandra isn’t afraid to tell Rachel how much she sucks, not because she wants Rachel to fail but rather because she wants Rachel to succeed and do better. Praises are awesome, but if you never get criticism, then your progress inevitably staggers.
And the fact that Lea Michele only asked her to come back was so that she can ask her for Barbara's phone number. I mean I always thought that people like Lea Michele only existed on TV and not in real life, how naive and stupid I was. how can somebody who is a big fan of Barbara, not know who her nieces or better yet disrespects people in general I don't Barbara was ever that disrespectful even though I don't know her.
Nicole Streisand was an extra Lea didn't like her as an extra (Nicole did nothing wrong btw) not knowing who this extra was she asked to have her fired and then when she found out who she was she changed her attitude.

I think the issue is that those words might have helped Rachel in a fictional TV show while they would have put her in intensive treatment for eating disorders and psychiatric issues in the real world. Also, Cassandra is a teacher, not a casting director, so there is a difference.
And all the people who play the card "back in my day things were tougher" or "today's generation has it too easy" have normalized abusive, patriarchic and sociopathic behaviors... I'm sorry but you need therapy if you think such a behavior is normal... back in the 80s therapy had a heavy stigma and that's only one of the multiple reasons why society was a lot worse back then...

I mean... you're already a legend if you're called Cassandra July. Some people grow up to live up to their names given. I know it's fiction but a character like Madison Montgomery from AHS already gives you a feel what the character is like. I feel Cassandra was the meanest queen bee in high school and got bored of life quickly.

Cassie wasn’t teaching rachel she was bullying her pure and simple and I won’t listen to any rubbish excuses for it either.
Rachel has been bullied all through high school she been called names to face and online she was slushied by jocks and the cheerleaders for being to different from other people her age she knew what she wanted to be was she prefect no but no one deserves to be treated like they don't matter also every single in the show has said and done some pretty horrible things but people only call out Rachel because they don't like her character

But I’ve been rewatching it now that I’m 18 and I actually quite like her now. A lot.
Honestly I’ve always thought that if Rachel was gay, the fandom wouldn’t have had a problem with her. Look how they treat Santana, Karofsky, Sebastian, and Blaine. Can you imagine the backlash if Rachel insulted people like Santana does? I like Rachel sometimes. Her and Kurt singing For Good was magical, that performance for me is when glee felt really special. Cassandra took it too far but i do believe Rachel needed someone to criticize her and make things hard for her. To survive in the business, Rachel needed to learn to deal with rejection.

Publicly humiliating her in class, giving criticism not at all constructive, sleeping w her crush, moving up her final and changing it, and that’s only what I can remember off the top of my head.
Like, seriously. She was obsessed with her because… Brody liked her? Because she was better at singing? Because she actually had a chance at success? And she got away with all of it. I felt bad for Rachel too cause in high school she just stood up for herself but now this is a professor.

Honestly, there are Cassandras (bully halves) in the real life? Yes. Just as much as there are Rachels in the real life, and you don't have to look to far from her to find.
To me, the half of the scenes Cassandra wasn't "kicking a puppy" or "blending a kitten" just for the sake of "ooh that character is bad", she was genuinely being the best teacher Rachel had, not bending to her, but rather... you know, pointing to the right direction?
Those two halves of her character don't fit together. And that's why arguments that she is a bully feel shallow and arguments she was actually justified in doing all that feel nonsensical. And why put together such a mess of a character? To make Rachel look good? The inocent heroin who triumphed in NY despite her bullyish teacher? Well, that's cute, except she tore down her own victory afterwards.
But Kate Hudson definetively was a queen in her performance. She managed to make this hot mess of a character actually believable if you don't think too hard.
