GLEE- "river deep, mountain high" by Naya Rivera and Amber Riley. Such an incredible duet. One of the best in the series even they said it was one of their favourites! :) love ur vids!
Jesse St. James is the coach of Vocal Adrenalin and was in college. And a few years older than the other Glee kids.. Also Vocal Adrenalin had a habit of having students not graduate on time so they could preform in the group longer to get more mature vocals. So many of the "acrobatic" group as you called it were older "students".
Yeah they'd deliberately fail certain students. I think in one episode there was this guy who had been failed/prevented from graduating 5 times, just because he was the only one able to do a certain backflip.
“He’s a little too invested in these kids” is Mr. Schue in a nutshell. He wanted to move his wedding up 7 months so that the glee kids could attend before they went off to college
Tea I would be so pissed if my bf proposed to me with a bunch of high school kids in a chlorine pool AND had my damn wedding in a nasty high school choir room
It's strongy implied the Vocal Adrenalines will actively have bad grades to stay in high school longer, so Jesse is probably like 21-22 by now? Rachel would be around 18 if my memory serves me well.. They dated when Jesse was sent to McKinley to spy on Rachel, sent by her mother, who was the coach of vocal adrenaline. He kind of was into Rachel and they dated, and then he went back to his school and the vocal adrenaline all threw eggs at her. Man this show was a mess
@@mxn4719 Yes. I know. She was asking about how old he was, though. He'd be 20 at this point if he had graduated like a normal person, but I don't think he did, so he's older. And I think the reason he graduated later is because like all the vocal adrenaline, he repeated a year or two of school
“I’ve never heard this song before.” Pinball Wizard was written by The Who for their rock opera Tommy. Elton John does a fantastic version in the movie. Highly recommend.
@@mar-ui2sr the problem is most teenagers overestimate their readiness. I’m not saying there aren’t occasionally very mature exceptions that can make it work, but it is far more likely that they do not have the maturity or life experience to make a lifetime commitment and make it work. They are also closing a lot of possible doors in their future by doing so, when they may not be aware of all the options that will be open to them in the future.
@@pixiegirl131415 also, most of the time there is no actual need or hurry for them to get married (as if someone would "need" to get married in the first place). They could totally wait a few years with no consequences and get married when they are more ready and more certain.
I understand the reason why, but they're technically legal adults, I think. At 18 years old you can join the army and go to war, so legal teenagers getting married shouldn't be so scandalous, in my opinion.
@@stephanieivanova3308 it’s not that I think it’s scandalous, it’s that very few 18 year olds are mature enough to make that kind of lifelong commitment. They lack life experience.
Jonathan Groff--the guy you thought was cute, and Lea Michele originated Melchoir and Wendia in Spring Awakening, and he was Tony nominated. He was also nominated recently for originating the role, on Broadway, of King George in Hamilton.

I feel that this show is for those who love Broadway and musical theatre in the way that we always wished for this as a career or a fantasy and were never able to achieve such a dream. I was all into being on Broadway in high school but was never able to follow. This (for me) releases those over-dramatic feelings that I always wish I could show on a daily basis. Glee is for the dreamers that wanted the dream, but didn't have the resources to go after it.
So true. I always wanted to join a glee club for a few years now but it’s not offered in my school. I’m not interested is doing the art’s professionally but it would’ve been fun doing it in school
please hannah needs to see it...and not just the cover the whole thing with quinn giving birth included....that moment is surely part of world tv s history. but that aside, once you ve witnessed it you re shocked forever, whatever way it is lol; it was a cultural reset on how to make a birth memorable in a tv show XD
So, for context: Winning nationals was important because otherwise, Glee club was going,to be disbanded. For a lot of these students, it helped them find a place to belong, so it was important to them that they didn't lose that safe space and why they were all much more "dramatic" about it than they would normally be. Will and Emma had been dating but not intimate because Emma's OCD made it difficult for her to take that step, so it was her telling Will she was ready.
YES !!! The fact that she doesn’t know a thing about the series is really stressful cause she’s commenting without knowing what’s happening… I just wanted her to talk about their performances. Not about if she thinks some things make ensue or are silly or not
@@camilal.9595 Thank you! I adore Hannah, I really, REALLY do, she's sweet and amazing, but I absolutely agree! That's the biggest reason no one wanted her to react to The Quarterback-- she would have had no context for most of it.
You really have to watch the whole series. Cause all of the characters go through quite a bit of growth. And by the time they get to this moment, you’re really, really rooting for them. And you’ve seen them disappointed again and again. And for many of them, it’s their last chance cause about half of them are seniors by this point. Also, Rachel goes a long way from how her character was at first. A LOT of growth. I hated her at first and ended up rooting for her. I cried when she choked at her NYADA audition. It was such a sad moment and her acting in that scene was Oscar worthy.
@@irishclover1111 YES! I cried for her. And it’s funny because I hated her character in the beginning. But, by that point, she was one of my favorites.
the quarterback is very painful. but i don't think she'll be able to go with it completely because the characters (or even just cory himself) didn't grew on her due to not watching the full series :((
I'm glad she reacted to this episode, because Season 3 Nationals are BY FAR the New Direction's best championship performances, and Paradise by the Dashboard Light is the only group performance they actually were comparable with/better than Vocal Adrenaline. Season 3 was the one time the New Directions won and it was believable (which is saying a LOT when Alex Newell is your competitor).
You know, after reading your comments, I would love it if Hannah reacted to Season 3 Sectionals, Troubletones versus New Directions. I'm still of the opinion that the Troubletones should have won over the ND by a landslide.
Between this one and the Sectionals where they did the mashup of Fly/I Believe I Can Fly , I actually liked the Fly/I Believe I Can Fly better. But they really did kick ass with this episode.

1. jesse and rachel dated in season 1, when rachel was a sophomore and jesse was a senior. they broke up and he graduated and shortly after became the coach for vocal adrenaline. 2. puck (mohawk guy) does get better. his character development is probably some of the best on the show. 3. finn and rachel get engaged and ALMOST get married multiple times but they never actually end up tying the knot.
The old guy was Jessie, her ex boyfriend and Lea's best friend in real life 😃😁. You should react to their performance of Rolling in the deep, it's acapella and so clear. Love it! ❤️
From my knowledge, I think Rachel was a sophomore when Jessie was a senior. They sing “Hello” by Lionel Richie together in their first meeting - it’s fantastic!
I think Hannah should so check out Jonathan Groffs performance of Bohemian Rapsody on the show, one of the most iconic performances of the entire Show. I was actually suprised that she didn't recognize him, he's King George III. in Hamilton and Kristoff from Frozen
i would love if you did 'journey to regionals', episode 22 of season 1. it's their first time ever at regionals and the absolute highlight (for me at least) is jonathan groff's (the handsome guy you thought rachel had a lot of chemistry with) 5 minute performance of bohemian rhapsody. it's just musical-television at it's absolute best and for someone who isn't a professional dancer/doesn't have dance training he kept up so well with all the professional dancers in the scene.
So that coach that Rachel dated was an older high schooler from a rival glee club in season 1, who’s graduated now. He’s played by Lea Michele’s real life best friend, Jonathan Groff and he’s also a singer (he’s the voice of Kristoff in Frozen)! The two of them do a duet of Rolling in the Deep in the show that you should totally react to 👀 (don’t worry, I’ve submitted it through your request form lol)!
she should react to all Darren Criss songs in glee, PERIOD! From the Michael Jackson episode... and one of my favs is his duet with Lea Michele, "Don't you want me baby"... he's my absolute favorite!
a good one for kurt is him practicing defying gravity. in the episode he throws the last note to let rachel win. but we get to see him practicing and he hits all the notes perfectly. another one is give up the funk episode, the deep voice at the beginning of the song is kurts as well. chris (kurt) probably has the best range of the entire cast.
I feel as if she would need to actually watch the show through in order to fully grasp that episode and the emotional connection through it. Or at least read a thorough summary of the show.
God, Nayas version of if I die young and Leas final song wrecked me, but nothing hit me harder than Finns mom saying “and I don’t get to be a mom anymore”. As a mother, that fucking hurt.
Lea and Jonathan Groff have been BFF’s for years. He was on the show because of her. Her and “Finn”(Cory Monteith) dated for a while and they were together when Cory passed. She has a few tattoos in his memory.
@@mindypweightloss Ah, all good. I thought you meant they were engaged and planning already. I agree and am aware that they had been openly talking about a future and wanting to get married but they hadn't gotten engaged yet. In another video, she apparently didn’t know who Lea Michele was either, and both Lea and Jonathan have been stars in the theater world since they were little kids. It’s also irritating how this vocal coach interrupts every 3 seconds and criticizes EVERYTHING
that is kinda what this is about, her commenting on the vocals as a vocal coach. that means good and bad. if you didnt want comments you shouldve watched the video not the vocal coach reaction.@@andrealuvshouseshe also was complimenting most of rachel's solo so idk what you mean about criticizing.
The Who's "Pinball Wizard" MUST be a part of your musical library. FYI, I appreciate you giving the artists time to deliver key passages of their music without talking across key segments of the music, offering your analysis at more relaxed moments within the tune. I just signed on... I'm a fan.
Pick *seemed* to mature in the show, but his personal life went horribly wrong. He was investigated and confessed to a horrific crime (I won't detail it), and killed himself before sentencing if I recall correctly.
You should react to Rory singing “Take Care of Yourself”! His voice is absolutely amazing and his upper register is stunning! Literally one of my favourite songs sung on glee! I’d never even heard it before he sung it and now I constantly listen to it!
If you want to see more of Alex/"Unique" on Glee, check out their performance of "Boogie Shoes"! It slaps and the notes they reach are stratospheric! Also, someone else already mentioned it, but you really should check out the episode "The Breakup" from season 4. It features some of the absolute best songs in the show, including "The Scientist", which is probably a top 5 of the songs in the show for me.
If you want more of Kurt singing, definitely check out his NYADA audition! He performed "Not The Boy Next Door" in, like their song for Mr. Schue here, a sudden, supposedly unpracticed routine lol
You should react to the glee version of “Blow me one Last Kiss.” It has Melissa Benoist and Alex Newell. It shows off their voices. Plus I think it’s just a good duet (personally).
Hannah: they aren’t getting married Chat: who gonna tell her Cory died 😅😅😅 Hannah: she had more chemistry with the other guy Chat: she marries him and has Kurt and blaines baby
I was wondering how they were going to cover Cory Monteith's death. I ended up crying most of the way through the episode titled "The Quarterback". That was the most heartbreaking episode of Glee. Since Cory (Finn) and Lea (Rachel) were dating in real life made this an even sadder and heart breaking episodes. I was wondering if they would mention how he died from an accidental over dose. There are a lot of "inside jokes". So, 1. The slushie... they used to get slushies thrown in their face all the time so when it was confetti it was a cool moment. 2. Emma (lady in the pink gown with the teacher) is a counselor and her whole thing is having pamphlets that help kids with their issues and stuff xD so anytime a kid wouls go to her she would have pamphlets for that issue 3. The kids are really into this cuz a lot of them are seniors and they want to be able to place a win and feel like a lot of things they went through in school was worth it with glee. They gave up stuff and went through problems cuz of glee. 4. Jesse (the coach) is a year or two older than Rachel. They dated when they were both in highschool. 5. Puck with the mohawk did grow into a better person. 6. Finn proposed to Rachel cuz he wanted to show he supported her and would follow her and love her no matter where they ended up
Your question about Puck, the character- yes, he had started redeeming himself by season 3. The actor, Mark Salling, was arrested and pled guilty to child pornography charges, and committed suicide before his sentencing in early 2018.
Yea I hadn't watched the show in like eight years so I didn't remember if he had any big singing roles in this episode. I didn't notice him before the part where she mentioned him and for a second I thought they cut him out of the show. Probably should've tbh
@@hierophantpurple5163 yah he did. Cory(Finn) died from a drug overdose in 2013. Then Naya drowned saving her son last year. So sad watching these old episodes back
@@mountain_dreams Right there with you. Three young talents that went in vastly different directions before they passed. And while Cory's death made me hurt for him, Naya's made me hurt for everyone around her. Dying in the act of saving her child's life... tragic heroism. Her child will live knowing that his mother loved him so much that she literally sacrificed her life to save him. It won't make the hurt of growing up without her easier, but hopefully it will help him through the worst of the hurt as he gets older.
You can really tell how much Rachel has improved her voice if you watch all of her and Jesse's duets cause he pushes her and you can see how proud of her he is
You'd loveeee Not The Boy Next Door (shows off high notes) or Being Alive (shows off lower register) from Glee!! They're both by Chris Colfer (Kurt) who's a countertenor, and I'd loveee to learn more about his voice type seeing as it's so rare!!
Still kinda mad that Kurt never got to sing Corner of the Sky. It would've been perfect for him. It's high, but still in a male range so it probably would've been in such a good spot in his range
Glee was my first introduction to Jonothan Groff (King George III in Hamilton, Frozen, Mindhunter, Original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening, etc). It took me a while to figure out why all these people looked so familiar as I learned about theater and watched more tv, movies, and so on. Turns out, I recognized them from Glee! I loved this show in high school, maybe it's time for a rewatch?
Darren Criss and Heather Morris are two more that I could never look away from. Darren can sing and is so magnetic, and hot damn can Heather dance. They should have given her more screen time for sure.
Still an absolute crime that "Not the Boy Next Door" didn't get him into NYADA but Rachel bombing her audition and then being her obnoxious self about it to get w second chance got her in. My boy was ROBBED.
jesse (played by jonathan groff) was in season 1 as a senior at carmel high and the male lead of vocal adrenaline (one of the best show choirs in glee, in season 1 i think it was said they always win nationals). i won't go into plot points in case of spoilers but i think he was 18 and rachel was 16 when they were dating and in season 2 he was off at college in ucla. so i think here in season 3 he's probably 19/20 and rachel is 17/18
Paradise by the Dashboard Light is one of the best songs they ever did in the entire series! ❤❤❤ This National Performance is also, in my opinion, the best competition setlist they ever had
One thing I really like about Rachel in this series is her progression into a better singer. From the begginning you can tell she is just a student, and it is almost as is she grows in an almost natural progression like a student would, even through her time at NYADA she gets better and better. (and more tolerable)
I love how she thinks we can actually explain Glee 🤣🤣 yes it's a satire, and a comedy and drama and EVERYTHING ELSE. And yes The character who bullies everyone became such a sweet heart and a good friend to the other kids.
A bit heartbroken that you didn't recognize Jonathan Groff... He originated the role of Melchior Gabor in Spring Awakening (which is how him and Lea became frinds) and also originated the role of King George in Hamilton! He's so brilliant!
I can’t believe you didn’t react to the part where Finn goes “but god only knows what I can do right now.” It shows his vocal progression over what…only three years? Going from never having sung professionally to hitting that note so effortlessly
No, Jessie is not supposed to be a teenager. He's supposed to be a couple years past graduation, and he's come back to run the competing team's show choir.
Several episodes I think you would appreciate: when Rachel finds her birth mother, and we are treated to several duets with Lea Michele and Idina Menzel. "Somewhere" and "I Dreamed a Dream" are two of my favorites from the series. Another fun one (though you aren't necessarily fond of Will Schuster) is when he tries to develop an outside passion, and auditions for a community theatre production of (I think) Les Mis by singing Aerosmith's "Dream On" (lol yeah), and we end up with a surprise duet with Schuster and his rival for the role, played by Neil Patrick Harris. Editing to add: oh, another favorite is back in the first season, Mercedes singing "Beautiful".
"Guy with the weird mohawk, is he good?" Well his character gets better but the actor got caught in a pedophile scandal and i think killed himself soooooooo..... not really
The guy with the Mohawk is called Puck. His character is troubled and goes back and forth a lot but overall has a good heart. However his character is very overshadowed by the actor, mark salling, these days. He was charged for possession of child pornography and committed suicide a few years ago.
the reason they were so serious about it was because for most of them, like 80% of them, it was their last competition. it was their last chance. and they didn't win nationals in the previous season. It was their last chance to win as a team.
I’ve been to a show with Darren cross (Blaine) and Lea Michele (Rachel) and damn girl, they are just as good live. I had goosebumps the whole time. Amazing!!!

Jesse was coaching, he graduated between seasons 1 and 2
@@mxn4719 Yes. I know. She was asking about how old he was, though. He'd be 20 at this point if he had graduated like a normal person, but I don't think he did, so he's older. And I think the reason he graduated later is because like all the vocal adrenaline, he repeated a year or two of school

“Maybe the teenagers shouldn’t be getting married…” this will never not be true, no matter what the circumstance.
Teenagers can get married if they believe they are ready.

So, for context:
Winning nationals was important because otherwise, Glee club was going,to be disbanded. For a lot of these students, it helped them find a place to belong, so it was important to them that they didn't lose that safe space and why they were all much more "dramatic" about it than they would normally be.
Will and Emma had been dating but not intimate because Emma's OCD made it difficult for her to take that step, so it was her telling Will she was ready.
also if they lost, the majority of the club wouldn't have had another chance, they were graduating

Loved Glee when it came out and love this response video. Makes me sad that Cory, Naya and Mark are gone. Such talented people and such tragic deaths.
not mark tho… i mean he only died to get out of being in prison for basically the rest of his life for bein a huge creepy pedo
Santana: literally yells at everyone
Hannah: I'm bored
A bit heartbroken that you didn't recognize Jonathan Groff... He originated the role of Melchior Gabor in Spring Awakening (which is how him and Lea became frinds) and also originated the role of King George in Hamilton! He's so brilliant!
I can’t believe you didn’t react to the part where Finn goes “but god only knows what I can do right now.” It shows his vocal progression over what…only three years? Going from never having sung professionally to hitting that note so effortlessly
YES OMG WHY WOULD SHE CUT THAT OFF😭😭😭
I rewatch that part more times than I’d like to admit 🥴 Seriously though, this was Corey’s best performance and when he hits that note……. Chefs Kiss
trust me everything in this episode gets more emotional when you watch the whole series
You should really do the musical episode the show Once Upon A Time did. I love that show and it would be a perfect episode for you to react to!
Yes to Idina and Harris duets!
And THEIR GAGA COVER
@@HollyLuYa94 she already did that episode and it's on her page
"Guy with the weird mohawk, is he good?" Well his character gets better but the actor got caught in a pedophile scandal and i think killed himself soooooooo..... not really
yeah Hannah is right on with those bad vibes.
I was seriously thinking “who’s gonna tell Hannah…”
she wasn't talking about the actor?
Paradise is definitely my favorite glee song to date 🥰
The guy with the Mohawk is called Puck. His character is troubled and goes back and forth a lot but overall has a good heart. However his character is very overshadowed by the actor, mark salling, these days. He was charged for possession of child pornography and committed suicide a few years ago.
i mean puck did technically rape quinn so
@@toestealer man I used to love this show but the writers have a lot to answer for
@@toestealer WHAT?! How'd I miss this??
@@toestealer no he fucking didnt
@@tuz2160 I mean he did kind of push her to drink more alcohol and pursued her even when she said no...
the reason they were so serious about it was because for most of them, like 80% of them, it was their last competition. it was their last chance. and they didn't win nationals in the previous season. It was their last chance to win as a team.
I’ve been to a show with Darren cross (Blaine) and Lea Michele (Rachel) and damn girl, they are just as good live. I had goosebumps the whole time. Amazing!!!
