We can all agree nendoroids are the cutest collectable figurines out there, right? Too bad they usually cost a fortune, if you want a legit one •́ ∧ •̀ Unless you're a cheapskate like me of course.
Another proxy shopping tutorial finished. I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out. For this video I tried adding in a couple in-betweens but damn, that's time consuming.

Always ALWAYS look at the buyer review rating. Never go for anyone lower than 98% for people that have a lot of sells.......and even then be wary if they're less than 100%. I have yet to recieve a bootleg from a seller that's only sold 100 or less things. Also, shipping for California and a deal too good to be true is a bootleg. The biggest indicator is there are no pictures of the item in the seller's home and just from the original selling website....big red flag right there. And if you really wanna get picky, message them asking if it comes with a box/have a picture of the box. Bootleggers get very defensive and their English isn't usually the best, legit ones usually answer the question.

Nah don't worry, shipping costs aren't all that bad when using a proxy service. Given you don't choose an expensive shipping method.

Hii! Im trying to buy a sakura miku nendoroid from surugaya, they have an english version of the website that shows the price for yen, and the price for USD , if I bought it, would I have the choice to pay in yen or USD? Because I dont have any yen, as I dont live in japan.
I've personally never used their international website before so I'm not quite sure how that'll work. If you're wanting to use a proxy service for shopping I recommend sticking with the Japanese version. Highly recommend reaching out to Suruga-Ya's customer service otherwise.

I agree deeply about the japanese standards for taking care of their stuff, I remember myself in the local flea market (these called hard-offs) where i bought c.c. , roy mustang and eva 01 figures. they were really cheap and came in a flawless condition, i wouldnt believe this if i didnt see it with my own eyes. and yet wished youtube had recommended this video for me earlier, since I'm not familiar with online shipping, but just made the purchase for higashikata josuke in goodsmilecompany shop anyway, just hope things work out.
If you used zenmarket I'm sure your order will be fine. I've had like... 20 orders sent to me and none of them have ever gone missing, or things got damaged.
Though your experience may vary from proxy company to proxy company. Personally I've only ever used Zenmarket, Neokyo, WhitrRabbitExpress and Samurai Buyer.
I got my bootleg Kanna and I have to say that she is cute, better than the nendoroid, more flexible, and has a lovely home with me : )

I've found that Japanese Mercari is the best pricing, but hit/miss for inventory.
Mandarake might be a bit more expensive, but it's important to note they have a lot of rare vintage items that warrants higher price points.

Don't mind me I spent around $3,000 for a collection that isn't finished yet, & some of my figures have to be repaired before I can display them. Yeah, proxy shopping is essentially useless for older figures. Nothing wrong with buying from eBay if you know what to look for, & properly know how to interogate a fake seller from a legitmate one. If you want to buy that cheap, then kiss shipping insurance good bye. Believe me, unless you've dealt with companies like amiami, then I highly suggest buying in bulk with EMS or DHL because it happens very frequently with economy shipping. Compared to what I've recieved I can tell you right now more than half of the time economy shipping or anything similar will you screw you. I've used economy when I first started because the fees are just too high as stated in the video, but when I get my product the contents or the box are most of the time ruined. So, I switched to EMS & just buy in bulk because it's not worth losing $ the moment it arrives, & sometimes expressed insured shipping is offered for free which for most people saves like $100+. I would just be blunt & say the only real way to save any $ is by pre-ordering, but I'll let the newbies figure that out for themselves. We all gotta learn how this expensive trade works eventually~

Loved the video! But ever since I started collecting, I bought all my 12 nendoroids from ebay. Just ask for the seller to give you a close up pic of the face and you'll be able to know right away if it's a bootleg or not really.

My brother knows I'm a fan of one piece and love doflamingo. He decided for christmas he would get a figure of doflamingo as my Christmas gift. The thing is, hes not that knowledgable when it comes to figures and cant tell how to spot bootlegs from the real thing. I got the figure and was excited for it, but after carefully looking at it, I knew it was a bootleg. It broke my heart to let him know he bought a fake and he spent $50 on it. He felt bad, but I still thanked him for it, because it was an awesome gift nonetheless.

I like the options of finding cheap nendoroids by buying loose ones or just not the ones that are misb or mib. However, I guess I prefer it more if it is sealed. Also yes! pre-order is much better hehehehe. I'm a total cheapskate, but I can wait. (Oh and I also prefer second-hand nendos that are still mib hehehe)

What if the bootleg is the old retail price before the product went out of production and has been for years and now said item sells for 5x it's retail price. And I don't mean bootlegs that try to come off as legit, but bootlegs that legit market themselves are bootlegs that try to be as 1:1 to the real product as possible and sell for the original retail price
I mean if the bootlegs let people know they're bootlegs, and the original product is super expensive, then I suppose it's not quite as bad. Cause I totally understand not wanting to spend 100+ euro for a single nendoroid.
Personally I mostly refrain buying bootlegs cause I dislike how they most of the time look very sloppy.
But in the end its up the individual whether they want to support bootlegs or not. There's various factors that go into choosing whether or not to purchase a bootleg.
I personally just wanna let people know, who might be unaware of proxy shopping, that authentic nendoroids and figures don't nesecarily have to be hyper expensive.
I recently purchased some Touhou posters from China (Guangdong, if anyone cares) and the width to length ratio was the same as what was advertised, but the widths and lengths themselves were much shorter than what was advertised. I got this poster of Reimu smoking a pipe but the poster didn't even contain the full image so it looks like Reimu is sticking her hands out in front of her for no reason ):

Tbh, nenderoid factory is located in china, some times I feel people there are secretly selling defects part, or have some stocks of finished nendoroid, though they sell as expensive or more expensive than gsc though, but I really want to collect them.

I think crunchyroll is the best to get them at because when they're in stock unlike preorder they come from a warehouse in the usa. They also offer preorders and you can pay with sezzle. also english websites are easier to use personally
For American buyers it's probably the best option yeh. Though over here figure buying sites are pretty much non existent. Except for maybe a few. Though they charge waaay too much.
And buying figures from American based sites leaves you with massive amounts of import taxes and fees.
