  • Greg Fisher invented this four wheel, electric and human powered machine. He calls it the Animas Quadracycle. This is the 3rd video which shows some of the stunts the quad can do

    Fantastic craftsmanship!
    I want one.

I really like the way you design. I have been working on a single person all street version for many years. You would be my Ideal neighbor! I'm sure you live far away. Thanks for the inspiration!

Good work man. The bike is awesome.

either person can add power to the aux. shaft through their own separate input freewheels/gearsets, as does the electric motor. Out of the aux. shaft, on the ends are the output freewheels, allowing either wheel to overrun the other while driving positively if one wheel loses traction.

Yes I have, but even if you had the plans you would need quite precise jigging and tooling to hold it all in place for welding. That's just the frame; add components plus machine processes. It is more complicated than two bikes, but worth it.

@joshpit2003 Yes, about 15 mph, gearing is super low (granny) to road (32 mph) at 100 rpm cadence; 63 speed-3 X 21

I didn`t see Sonora`s place behind the seats on the Quadracycle. Next video perhaps.

@joshpit2003 I mean, that is the range of gearing built in. From a granny gear(40% lower than the lowest cogs of the 21 spds) to a 32 mph overdrive (150% of the tallest cog set) driving a 16 inch motorcycle wheel (85% the dia of a 26 in mtn bike tire). I havent measured the "gear-inch" for years because we go from absurdly low to higher than a mtn bike (hard to take advantage of on pedal only unless it's a downhill)

Have you ever thought of selling plans for your the Quadracycle, while you are waiting for investors?
    Cool machine

Wow. Awesome job Greg, this thing looks like a blast to ride. It reminds me of the "moon buggy" contests that you mentioned in your inspiration section of your website. I'd love to see a design like this in that competition! I have a few questions for you: Whats the top speed of the vehicle without electric assist? (maybe that was the 15mph in the video?)
and: Whats the wheel "gear inch" in its lowest gear? highest gear?

Jigging is not a proplem ,jigs can be made out of wood for one off while you tac the frame togeither,as to machine parts can always get a local small company to make then should be quiet cheap to have made here in the philippines.(I am from the uk).
    Thanks

I was thinking of most people, hooked on their cars and often long distance to go.
Pedal power is what I use for shorter trips, but...
Was not suggesting you act on my suggestion.

@animasquadracycle Wow, thats one crazy range... lemme see if I can guess: The typical 21 speed MTB has a low gear inch of about 22" , that puts yours at 13.2" w/ that 40% less figure, but then w/ your smaller tires (85% of a 26" tire) you get a gear inch of 11.2", Does that sound familiar? Thats just about half of a typical MTB granny. Is that low enough that you can get the rear wheels to skid on the steepest hills?

One thing Im curious about, havin watched a couple of the vids, does each person drive a separate tire? Like if theres only 1 person, then only 1 wheel is driven/powerd, and the other just coasts? it just seems to make sense, like at times it seems one person is pedaling faster than the other, as if they're in different gearing..

Did you guys broke your backs at 0.28? That is one massive jerk as the rear wheels are coming down.

Quadracycle people - pedal and engine powered need to get together! Lots of poeple out there with good ideas out there, but are scattered - no 'power in numbers'
