You are so thoughtful in your reaction! Some people are interested to know what she writes about, others find more meaning when they aren't told. But I will tell you. The song is about her former record label owner. He signed her at 16 years old, she was his first artist. Together they created a huge record label, for years he was like a father to her. She expressed wanting to own her masters to her albums, he basically denied her. Gave her a deal that she would get the masters for 1 old record for every new record she recorded. She said no and moved to a different record label. Then he sold her complete catalog, masters to all of her songs, to someone she really publicly disliked. To her, it felt like a stab in the back, ultimate betrayal. Didn't even consider selling them to her, didn't give her a fair deal. It really hurt her, she wrote a lot of songs about the betrayal, this one more about the person than the act. "I didn't have it in myself to go with grace" she wrote a long blog post to the world telling them what happened, because she felt so wronged. It really just said this happened, I don't know what to do. "When you can't sleep at night, you hear my stolen lullabies" really gives me chills, hopefully you too now you know the context. I hope you continue to dig deep! For me, every time Taylor puts out new music it instantly becomes my favorite, literally your reaction in this video 😂 Okay long rant over!
If you want to hear her best vocals, try Don't Blame Me and I Did Something Bad from the Reputation Tour. Also any of the Grammy Museum 2015 performances, and Out of the Woods & We Are Never Getting Back Together/I Knew You Were Trouble from the 1989 Tour. She kills it live, either with big production or stripped down like this. One of my new favorite things is watching people (especially men) react to Taylor Swift. They never *don't* end up being fans. Loved your thoughtful, authentic reaction, and I hope you keep exploring her diverse catalogue. She is a lyrical master and an epic performer. There's a reason she broke Ticketmaster & why her concert film is the highest grossing concert film of all time. Keep diving in! I hope you'll do the entire Long Pond documentary (thanks for finding the intro before reacting, btw). My favorites are Peace and The Lakes.
This song is about her record label/ Scott Borchetta former CEO of Big Machine Records. I’m sure you now know what happened. In this performance you can definitely see/ feel her anger , and how hurt and betrayed she felt by Scott.
I love that you keep it honest and that you are open minded in your reactions. This album is also what got me into her music. Then I listened to the long pond sessions, and I am defenseless, I'm a fan. This song is one of my favorites in this album too, the lyrics are soo gutting. I'm excited for the next track because that song is also one of my favorites.❤
She's a songwriter who sings her own songs. She has never claimed to be a singer first, or the best singer. Even better, she supports other women and singers like Beyonce. We all have moods. One day, I'm Pink Floyd, another I'm Eminem, and the next I'm Taylor Swift. There's a reason why they are where they are.
Great reaction! I've loved all of your TS reactions so far, but I see you dont have many others. I WISH Wish wish you could find time to react to a couple from the City of Lovers show in Paris! They're live, just her & guitar, or her & piano. You would be impressed (and would get a lot of new subscribers :-) ). I humbly suggest "Death By A Thousand Cuts" and "Cornelia Street" as a duo to kick it off. Thank you, cheers!
Track five is always for Taylor her most personal and sad song 😊
Thank you for explaining that for me! And for watching ofc! 😊❤

The jewels she gave him was her album Fearless went Platinum and Gold, which is what Record companies love of course.
Taylor is unique, she is not your typical singer, she is the gift that keeps on giving.
The production on the album version of this song is gorgeous.

The live version of this at The Eras Tour is absolutely incredible and gutting. Highly recommend watching it. The visuals are incredible as well.

Glad you enjoyed it, it is one of my favorites too. You are not alone a lot of men are now Taylor Swift fans, of all ages. Welcome to the rabbit hole.
This is top 5 Taylor for me. Beautiful and haunting. I can feel her pain. It’s so moving. The lyrics and emotion….😮
This is a condensed version. I suggest listening g to the full one from the album.
You need to listen to the live song from the eras tour. It's so much more amazing when she performing for the fans.
You should also listen to This Is Me Trying, Tolerate It and Happiness
Our girl has barz and she is so deservedly iconic. Everyone who stops and listens to her can relate. ❤ Thank you for your reaction!
My tears ricochet is one of the most sad track fives. Tolerate it is the only other one that comes close and All too well in third

Lol i can't wait for your next reactions!
YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS IN THE ERAS TOUR LIVE, if this song is already sad in live is heartbreaking
She was really hurt by what he did.
