Just saw her in Melbourne and honestly what you've said before in a different video about her being better live is 10000% true. Something about how she evokes and intonates when she is singing live, is what makes her an amazing performer, not just a singer.
My Tears Ricochet didn’t register with me at first either. But the lyrics, man. Omg. “You can aim for my heart, go for blood, but you’d still miss me in your bones.” DUDE. And then when you think of it in the context of her former label who sold her masters out from under her (her “stolen lullabies”), it hits even harder.
Taylor’s vocal range is not to be underestimated. She can comfortably hit an A2, which is lower than most pop artists can reach, and she can also hit a remarkable E5, as heard in her duet with ZAYN on “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” She never tries to go above that E5, even using her head voice, which is a wise move as doing so could cause her to go off-pitch. Vocal Pluses: Overall, Taylor’s bright voice appeals to most pop & country music lovers. She excels at effortlessly switching between her head and chest voice and has an impressive vocal range of three octaves 6 notes, nearly four octaves, from a low A2 to a D6, making that a total of 42 notes!
@@thinedge EXACTLY!!! And her mixing an F#5 during All Of The Girls You Loved Before and F5 in I Did Something Bad, then also mixing a G5 in Dancing With Our Hands Tied and a growled G#5 in a I Did Something Bad performance. I can't with this woman omg
Totally and that’s full voice, the f#5 are more belts than mix? Pretty sure with head voice she can go up to at least to an E6-F6 but why would she sing it? Haha
@@thinedgeHer voice is so light and bright, but powerful. Conveying emotions for every single word she sings. We started listening for that, high pitched beautiful voice. I love that now that her voice has matured is still very high pitched but she can go very low which was necessary for her indie folk albums
@@FC-qb9wp YEAHHHHH but I don't think she can sing there, she can definitely hit it but I don't think she's ever trained her voice to sing in the soprano range right??
I love When rap lovers become Swifties because you immediately get the density and complexity of her lyrics... The original Swifties learned to appreciate it as she grew more lyrically complex, but you guys that know music and just have that 'ear' denveloped from listening too or performing rap, just jump in being able to absorb and appreciate her lyrics of the bat😊
People need to give singers who hit those low notes more credit, they’re just as talented as the belters. Arguably singing low notes is just as hard as belting out the high notes in a different way.
She belts a lot though. Her voice type a soprano, allows her to reach pretty high sounding very light, belt is a matter of technique no one would belt right away up to a G5. Same with low notes, I like that she definitely don’t have a low range like a contralto like Annie Lennox for example but she can go down and conveing a emotion of defeat and sadness that is needed on my tears recochet
There isnt anything wrong with loving this woman and her music. She is not the biggest artist right now by not making good music and she is one hell of a performer. Everyone I know that has just heard her radio and made a judgement based on a few songs that play a lot then they take just a little time to listen to an album or watch a few performances...its like a spell falls over them. She is the whole package and she hasnt gotten there with hard work and developing her craft. She will go down as one of the greats and Im happy I have said that since 2006
I just wanted you to know that I am a 61-year-old white woman, and I enjoy so much that you enjoy Taylor Swift‘s artistry. In fact, she’s the true form of an artist she writes everyone of her songs she’s way more than a popstar. Thank you for appreciating herand I think you’re so funny. Keep up the good work.
OMG YEEESSS I'm SO GLAD you finally let 'My Tears Ricochet' sink in lyric-wise. That said, this live was just as powerful to me, in a theatrical way, as her Long Pond Studio session was emotionally/vocally when it was still a very raw feeling for her. Just beautiful. And yeah, tell the ego self (not saying YOU are egoic, but the ego part of us, the part of us that is portrayed as a self) to relax... you can like what you genuinely like, it's gonna be okay lol
My Tears Ricochet has always been in my top 10. I heard it countless times before someone even told me it was about revenge, so it's up in my top 3 now.
🙌🏽To the False God appreciation🙌🏽 It’s a criminally underrated song. It’s always been my favorite Lover song. It’s like Dancing With Our Hands Tied on Reputation (except I have a top 3 that are interchangeable, aka 3 tied for number 1: DWOHT, Don’t Blame Me, Getaway Car). But there is something about Dancing With Our Hands Tied that is undeniably alluring.
This made me smile so much. I still can see your reaction to the Long Pond Version. You did like the song, but you were reluctant, and still were not convinced of her hype. It broke my heart, as that raw emotion in the Long Pond video is SO SO SO clear on her face of the pain and betrayal she was feeling when she wrote it. But now you see this unbelievably powerful performance, and you are so invested, and feeling it. I've watched this reaction 4 fimes so far, just to see your face light up.
I really wish that you would do the Eras tour version of long live. That one’s my favorite. She wrote it for her band after the Fearless tour, but it has become a song for her fans as well. It’s SO GOOD. And she always has her band come out and perform it in a line on the stage with her. Some of her band members have been with her since the very beginning.
We have the same favorites so far! TS being dark and sexy is the best especially because she can be so romantic and vulnerable. She’s the full package.
I love watching you discover and enjoy Taylor! Yeah, that really was a powerful performance. I swear, when people give her a chance, most people end up loving her.
Thos is one of my favorites. Taylor's poetry skills are rare. And for her to put them to music to match her inner emotions is top talent. But the poetry in the song just hits me some kind of way.
Getting the message of this and appreciating these songs ❤. Welcome! We’re not all scary (I hope). I’m a metalhead who loves Taylor. As long as you’re not mean then you’re welcome anywhere!
We are all energy at the end of the day. And her energy is genuinely beautiful, which we then feel emotional by the sheer essence in the collective. We all become one in union together. It’s nothing short of amazing.
Boyyyy she got bars for days. Im very very new to taylors music, but i swear if you feel my tears ricochet this hard, you will love "loml" the lyrics of that song are so effin incredible
I felt the same way you did about her til like 2 months ago hearing exile and it was over for me. I became a fan bc of the folklore album. Tbh I haven't went a day without listening to her music since. It is scary fr 😂 bc I'm over here obsessed after all these years not understanding why swifties were swifties lol
It is so excited to watch people really sit down and listen to what she writes. Man oh MAN I did not like her much up until Folklore came out. That album hit me like a brick. So happy to hear that you LOVE MTR.
I have a pretty deep lower register and it makes me feel so powerful when I sing those low notes. Ooof. Also, welcome to the family. You're now a Swiftie 🤣🤣🩷
Love your reaction to these songs, Illicit Affair on tour just hits different to the album version - Swifties are calling for Taylor to release this version fully
So August is from her album folklore and the album has a lot of made up stories this song , Betty, and Cardigan are all connected Each song is from the point of view of each member of a love triangle, August is from the point of view of the other woman.
Swiftie Nation has your back, sir. You're safe, and you've only got about... oohhh... 220 songs or so to go before you can actually pin down a favorite lol
When listing your favorites you forgot how much you loved "I Don't Want to Live Forever". You said that was your new favorite when you reacted to it. Myself, I can't pick a favorite, a top 10 or even a top 50, I love everything she's done too much. They're all my favorites.
You’ve become my favorite reactor as of late. I love that you concentrate on the entirety of the performances/songs. You go through the lyrics, vocals, performance, the emotion of what each song is evoking. I just love that you have an analytical discussion of my favorite artist and I just respect the hell out of you for the nuances you bring to each video!
she wrote a trilogy of related songs (Cardigan, August, Betty) about a teen love triangle; a fantasy exercise in writing. Cardigan is from Betty's viewpoint; August is from the second girl (Taylor called her August or Augustine at the Long Pond Sessions), and Betty is from the boy, James' view. She sang Betty live at the 2020 ACM awards (no audience, pandemic) with just her guitar and a harmonica player; she sang a medley of August, Cardigan , and Willow (lead single from Evermore) at the 2021 Grammy Awards with Dessner and Antonoff.
I feel like you need to do all your Taylor reactions with subtitles on - the lyrics are what takes all her stuff up to the next level. She's poetic, funny, witty and brutal - the lyrics are what gets me every time
Hello friend! So, August was written as a part of a love triangle fable that Taylor invented between a high school boy named James, his high school sweetheart named Betty, and a “summer fling” James had with another girl. August is written from the perspective of this girl James had a fling with. The other two songs I’d recommend checking out are “Cardigan” (Betty’s perspective), and “Betty” (James perspective). Betty does have more of a “twang” to it, so if you’re not into country, it may not be musically up your alley, but it is absolutely wonderful story writing through music. I hope this helps!
We saw the eras tour in Houston, seeing her again in New Orleans in October, and just yesterday managed to snag VIP tickets to that show. My kids are flipping out.
These songs are from folklore. Taylor has always been a diarist, writing her life into her music. Folklore she tried her hand at fiction. Cardigan, August and Betty were about a teenage love triangle. Illicit Affairs, My Tears Ricochet and Exile are about a grown couple. All fiction. The Last Great American Dynasty started when she bought a house to live out the pandemic in with Joe. It's the story of the woman who owned the house nearly a hundred years ago. I really love seeing someone become a Swifty. Welcome to the fam.
Please react to her singing “Can’t stop loving you” on BBC live or whatever British channel it was on. Something about her voice and facial expressions is just so good in that song
The first song here is August, the second part of a trilogy of songs that tell a story from three different perspectives. First is Cardigan, told from the view of a grown woman, looking back on what happened with her first love when she was a teenager. August is the second girl in the story, telling it from her experience. This one is told at the time she was a teenager and living the story. The third song is Betty, the story told by James, telling it as a teenager, from his perspective. Of course, it’s a love triangle. Illicit affairs is not related to the trilogy. Hope that makes sense.
Willow, Haunted, Out of the Woods, Exile there are soo many!! I was at the eras tour, and it was like no concert I’ve ever been to it was more like a production not just a concert!! Just Amazing!!

It took me way to long realize this was the most polite and poetic song that essentially means, "Go ahead, try me. See what happens."
To go from colorful watercolor motif of August to Black & White of Illicit Affairs - “you showed me colors I can’t see with anyone else” 😢
Willow and Tolerate it from the Eras tour are iconic performances! It’s like a broadway show

The first song here is August, the second part of a trilogy of songs that tell a story from three different perspectives.
