When i was in Louisiana taking a canoe trip through the Atchafalaya swamp, there ware a few abandon boats hidden along the sides of waterways. There was one small boat that was sunken and only the top side was poking out of the water. it had been there a very long time. There were also a lot of houseboats that were abandoned after hurricanes destroyed them.
Sometimes there are people like me who have little money but are looking for a boat big enough to live on and restore for continuous cruising. Too bad that cabin cruiser was so far away and so badly damaged nearly what I been looking for to restore
often what happens is the 'owner' claims to have sold the boat some time ago, and that whoever bought it from them has never taken the time to reregister it into their own names, therefore, making themselves not responsible for disposing of it.. It's an issue with old RV's too. People will abandon them along country roads and simply claim to have sold them instead of disposing of it themselves.
The most miserable day of your life is when you buy a boat, the second most miserable is when you sell it. When you don't have any money, "Give us a call. It's not as expensive as you think it is." is not going to be taken seriously.
If you can afford a boat then you can afford to take care of it. If not then don’t buy one! I hope they charge all those scumbags that abandoned their boats for reclamation and dismantling and I hope they’re still getting taxed on them too. Pay your taxes and properly dispose of your boats if you don’t want them anymore!

The alternative is if they find the owner after their boat has been disposed of by the county expect it to cost a lot more than it would otherwise

I think they should leave them or sink them to make habitats for fish or diving practice

Give us a call means that we are going to hold you responsible for every penny so we don't have to use our grant money.
