I remember doing the video when she said "you already have everything you need" and it made me quite emotional. No-one has ever said that to me before and it's revolutionary to how we think about ourselves and what we can achieve.

Been doing yoga of different styles for almost 50 years. I still use videos for motivation. Classes are really nice if you have the time, and money. Hot vinyasas flow is a favorite. Quite challenging.
Now that I’m older I do lots of yin yoga. ❤️

  • @emmxyzzy
    @emmxyzzy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

When I started doing Yoga with Adriene, I kept a notepad file on my desktop to write a sentence about how I felt after every practice. It helped immensely with the motivation. I'd read over it when I got that "Urrrrrrrrgh, I can't be buggered!" feeling, and it helped me push through. It's the only type of exercise I consistently eventually go back to, even after I fall off track.

Hey Craig, I just want to say that I started doing yoga because of this video.
I started a week or two after you uploaded it and, while there have been a lot of gaps, I'm still doing it now. I still often have to trick myself into starting a session but I always feel better afterwards. I also just feel better in general - I'm much more flexible and more aware of my posture so I have fewer aches and pains.
    Thank you for that.
p.s. Adriene's videos are really great - accessible but challenging, relaxed personality, not preachy - so thanks for that tip too.

I've been in self quarantine for almost a month now and i am constantly having feelings of "oh i don't want to do this 30 minute thing I'll just look on my phone instead". I think this is a very good manifestation of the anxiety i have and i think this is also what you were describing throughout the video. What i do is I count to ten taking a breath each time I count, making sure i exhale longer than I inhale. For some reason that makes me feel closer to the target or the task at hand, kind of like a self medication. It has helped me a lot with anxiety in general and it's kind of like my mantra for when I can't sleep as well. That's it! Hope it helps!

Wheezy, I haven't seen your videos since I was probably 15. I was watching when you were one of the OG TH-cam Vloggers, part of the ZeFrank, Vlog Bros, Dan Brown and Charlieissocoollike crowd. Free Bagel Fridays and the term "doobly doo" still knock around in my noggin from time to time. I looked up yoga to try something new and when I saw your channel name I about fell out of my chair. Seeing you come as far as you have as a person and creator and with a family and all, it's honestly great. Anyway, loved the vid, but I gotta go, the coffee's done, and I love it when the coffee's done.

Love yoga with Adriene very supportive and encouraging and positive. Seems like you need to focus on changing your diet and/or Apanasana (Wind Relieving Pose) - Lie flat on your back, legs extended, arms at your sides. Bend your right knee and bring it up toward your chest. Hug your knee with both hands while pressing your back, shoulders, and neck into the mat. As you exhale, bring your forehead up toward your knee. Hold for a few breaths. Release, then repeat with the opposite leg.

Cole Chance Yoga is my favorite yoga youtuber. I've done Adrienne videos too, but Cole is my fav. She seems so awesome.
And yeah, I always feel better after yoga/stretching. Good for you!

my favourite video you've done so far. Been doing yoga a year and a half now and I still motivate myself by reminding myself that I always feel better afterward so I laughed when you mentioned that. relatable! Also, I really appreciate your honest critiques. You are open to explore the pros and cons fully and it's refreshing.

I did yoga once and felt so relaxed the rest of that day. I've just been too focused on strength training. This seems like the right time to get into some yoga.

I'm not very self-motivated without going to classes, but it's amazing how quickly 60 minutes can fly by in a yoga class.

I find it really tough to motivate to do yoga at home (my home-yoga attendance is quite spotty) but I regularly make it to my weekly class and I am always glad I did. It makes me feel so good afterward and I feel more relaxed and optimistic for the rest of the day. I have an old injury that prevents me from running any more, and yoga is my primary replacement. I have to modify a lot of poses, but it has been an excellent way to gradually rebuild strength and flexibility.

I had exactly the same feeling when I started the series long ago, I kept looking forward to it but when it was time to lay the mat and do it, it was very very hard... reminding myself how good I felt afterwards was what kept me going. But then I got to exams week and stopped midway. I really want to get back to it, but I just end up not doing that final effort to start, I'm going to do all my school work and do it already! This is a sign!!

I started doing yoga with Adriene after my mother died. When Adriene would say stuff like "hug yourself like you love yourself" I would cry. In time I really liked her "hold the pose hold it hold it so you can carry your own groceries when you're 90" and now I'm into fitness for the first time ever.

I do Yoga with Adriene too! For feeling like you're gonna fall backwards in the cross-legged pose (sukhasana), it definitely helps to sit up on something (like a folded towel or small pillow). I've been doing yoga for a while and I still do this because it's more comfortable for me.

I've done yoga on-and-off for a few years now. I started being more dedicated in the last couple of months and as a student with ADHD and anxiety, I find that the days I skip doing yoga I feel more agitated, restless, sad, and significantly less productive. It used to be hard for me to dedicate the time to doing it, but now that it's part of my routine, I find it much harder to skip a day.

I am currently on day 26 of another 30-day series of Adriene and I have to say she's an awesome instructor and yoga is an amazing activity both for the body and the mind :) If anyone reading is contemplating whether to start, do it and you'll thank yourself even after the first practice!
