FIRE VIDEO 🔥 i’m applying for fall 2024 rn and the lack of available info makes me cry a bit inside but this showed me so many things i needed to see and hear tysm i really hope i get in 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for this video. All the info I’ve found (at least for universities in the US) just states that ArchE is just building systems. I really want to do something that includes architecture but also do the engineering behind it so I really don’t know where to look now
Super helpful video. Im so anxious about my chances due to the lack of info online. But this helped out a ton. Applying for fall 2024, and I'm curious about the marks I should have to get in.
Hey Spencer, great video on Architectural Engineering! I'm curious to know, in your experience, what's the most challenging aspect of balancing aesthetics and functionality in architectural design? Would love to hear your insights!
Dear Edward, First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude for your thoughtful question, which delves into the intricate realm of architectural design-a field that undoubtedly harmonizes both the artistic and the pragmatic. Balancing aesthetics and functionality in architectural design is, indeed, a profound challenge that requires a nuanced understanding of spatial dynamics, human behavior, and the ever-evolving demands of the built environment. One of the most formidable aspects of navigating this delicate equilibrium lies in the inherent tension between form and function. On one hand, architects strive to create visually captivating structures that evoke emotions, tell stories, and contribute to the cultural fabric of society. On the other hand, these structures must serve a purpose, fulfilling the functional needs of the occupants and seamlessly integrating with the surrounding environment. The challenge arises from the constant negotiation between the aesthetic vision and the practical requirements of a building. Aesthetics often push the boundaries of creativity, inspiring architects to experiment with innovative forms, materials, and spatial arrangements. However, the danger lies in becoming ensnared by the allure of aesthetics at the expense of functionality. Striking the right balance demands a meticulous consideration of factors such as user experience, accessibility, and the long-term sustainability of the design. Moreover, the rapid evolution of technology poses an additional layer of complexity to this delicate dance. As a mechatronics student, you may appreciate the dynamic interplay between architecture and cutting-edge technologies. The challenge is not merely to incorporate the latest gadgets or automation but to do so in a way that enhances the overall design without sacrificing its aesthetic integrity. Integrating mechatronic elements seamlessly into the architectural fabric requires a deep understanding of both disciplines and a keen awareness of how technology can augment the user experience without overshadowing the design's visual essence. Furthermore, the multifaceted nature of architectural projects introduces a plethora of stakeholders, each with their own set of priorities. Balancing the diverse expectations of clients, builders, end-users, and regulatory authorities adds an additional layer of complexity. Negotiating between conflicting demands while staying true to the artistic vision can be akin to navigating a complex maze, requiring a delicate blend of communication, compromise, and creative problem-solving. In conclusion, the challenge of balancing aesthetics and functionality in architectural design is an intricate dance that demands a profound understanding of the interplay between artistic expression, technological innovation, and practical considerations. It's a dynamic process that requires architects to be both visionary artists and pragmatic problem-solvers, constantly adapting to the evolving landscape of design and technology. Thank you, Edward, for your insightful question. I wish you the very best in your mechatronics studies at the University of Waterloo and all your future endeavors. May your journey be filled with exciting challenges and rewarding discoveries.
i study arch eng in the uk and my advice would be to check the courses of each uni because the content of the degree can actually vary quite a lot! this was super interesting
Hey! I am working on my applications and am deciding between Architecture and Arch Eng at each school. This video helped a TON! If you or any of your friends would be open to me asking some questions, please let me know!
Hi Spencer, I loved your video😊, its very informative, it makes me want to shift (naah I will defenitely go with engineering, I was planning it anyways), but i was so distracted because of your...... Handsome face😍😍😆😆😆😆😆😆😆!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, Im a subscriber/ follower of Spencer 😗😙😚~

Ty man it probably varies between schools but I think arch eng is a pretty good mix of both, best of luck!

i like your channel and your type of videos it’d be cool if you start uploading more
Is the portfolio required for admissions for this program?
Nope you just need to submit ur grades, complete the AIF and additional video interview!
Everything I need to know about Spencer Engineering
