  • It is ... The Chopard L.U.C. 1860 Flying T, Special Revolution. This piece is a collaboration between Chopard and Revolution Watch Magazine. It could best be described as the (flying) tourbillon that Philippe Dufour himself might make. An incredible piece of work. 36.5mm in diameter and less than 9mm thick. It is beautiful, subtle and completely unexpected given that most brands' attention has been turned towards 40mm and above. It is so refreshing to see a watch that is so fine and elegant yet packs such a horological punch, being the first ever automatic flying tourbillon that holds both COSC certification (for accuracy) and the Geneva Seal (for finishing). Many thanks to Revolution Watch Magazine for loaning it to us to show on the channel and special thanks to Mr. Schuefele of Chopard for Mr. Koh of Revolution Watch Magazine for making it a wonderfully executed reality.

So, so good. I'm not a tourbillion guy, but this ticks ticks pretty much all of my boxes.

Mark, could you compare and contrast some interesting cloths at the macro bench?

The dial is fantastic; the detail is reminiscent of something from Grand Seiko

Lovely piece, Mark, as usual. Chopard is such a steal for the money, considering how good their watches are.

Just flat out stunning. I wonder if the second indicator on the tourbillon causes it to be unbalanced? A TB in name only?? I assume no for many reason's, let alone COSC certification. Every tourbillon I've ever seen has been symmetrically balanced. I may just not be seeing the extra material on the other side to counterbalance.

I suspect this indicator makes no difference. The escapement wheel is hanging out there on all tourbillons. This little wheel seems bigger than the indicator, and I have never heard anything related to a balance issue due to this.

This looks like a great budget alternative to a Philippe Dufour.

An underwhelming watch at around $120k and frankly tourbillons just aren’t really particularly interesting.
