    Hosery!! I don't care if it's a word or not, I love it Ryan!
    Great videos, I'm fully into my car because or you guys.

    Haloooo, I know I'm a late poster but.... I only found this video recently. My E39, screen washer stopped squirting. I know it wasn't empty because I'd filled it to capacity. On inspection, I could see fluid leaking from behind the bonnet insulation. I removed that. All the plastic pipes were shot. All brittle as you said. Even delicately handling just made things worse.
    So, I've watched the whole film and it absolutely confirmed my (amateurish) diagnosis.
    Thank you! It's nice to have the reassurance of someone elses knowledge 🙂

    Thanks for this video and all of your other videos! I just finished this job tonight by myself and holy cow...feeding the long pump hose down was such a pain. I felt like I was in middle school again trying to find my girlfriend's gspot for about 45 minutes. But unlike with my girlfriend, I finally fed that pesky hose down to the pump.

    5:50 or you can simply disable the pump via coding. Easier to put back in action if you gonna need it working again lets say for your 2 year annual inspection (like in Germany or any other country where it matters). If you don't know how to code that find someone who can. Or if you really want to do it yourself check fuses. Sometimes they are separate and you can disable just one pump and keep the other working (not sure about this model now but it works in some cars like that). Last but not least build a switch into the wires somewhere in the engine bay for easier access. No hate just a few tips :)

    German tüv now forces me to pay money and invest time to retrofit these fucking headligth washers. I will deactivate it immediatly after the (extra cost) second tüv inspection.

    thanks! Really helped me. Was wondering though, do you really need to remove the air cleaner box and all the fender lining? I was able to replace my hose line just by loosening the lining (taking out four 8mm bolts and the three plastic pop rivets), and feeding the new hose back up through the grommet above the water tank.

    Went to replace a washer jet today, old jet has two pipe connections underneath but the new one only has one. Do you need to swap part of the jet over?

    Great video! Thanks for sharing. If you just have blocked nozzles or hoses, would you consider trying to unblock them with some kind of thin wire? Or would you favour throwing them out and fitting new ones?

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Fabian Dee They could certainly be freed up without replacing them. Kennan's were very dry and the hoses were starting to crack so we just wanted to replace everything and not have to worry about it again.

    • @fabiandee8178
      @fabiandee8178 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yeah if they are cracked then yes they definitely need replacing. I'll have to examine mine more carefully. Cheers!

    I haven't dove inside yet to diagnose if the pump is failing or the hoses are leaking, etc, but the flow from the washer is a trickle and otherwise useless. This is the perfect vid to check it all out. thanx much.

    why do you have 2 hoses on 1 nozzle? I have 1 hose on a nozzle on my euro pre fl 540

    • @TheSdzisuaf

      It's stupidest idea BMW ever had - It's called intensive cleaning - separate container/hoses for cleaning concentrate for winshield aka PAIN IN THE ASS. Double hoses connect to nozzle which has very tiny and unreliable check valve system. Also breaks apart pretty easliy ejecting tiny springs into engine chamber. If You dont have 2 hoses You are a winner my friend.

      @GackFinder 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheSdzisuaf Yeah very much pain in the ash, but the intensive cleaning container is currently saving my ash, because the other hoses crumbled a few days ago. The only one still working is the intensive. :P It's a very small container that's very prone to leaking (mine does), but it's better than nothing while waiting for the new parts.

    I have replaced windshield washer nozzles with nozzles that came with Skoda Fabia/Octavia, probably some VW too. Dimensions are similiar, but these nozzles have a nice even spray, instead of that peeing E39 nozzles. But you have to do some reorganization in hoses and buy some check valves, because it has just one input. For those, who does'nt have intensive cleaning its just simple plug and play... (oh yes, you must change the plug for heating)

      +Tomas Taptik I've heard that you can do the same thing with E60 nozzles as well.

    • @Napster050
      @Napster050 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, but E60 has'nt nice spray... it has 3 peeing streams instead of 2 on stock E39

    • @ucan92
      @ucan92 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use E60 LCI nozzles, these have 4 nice sprays instead of 3 peeing streams.

    Are you sure the lines for the left side nozzle go behind the hood? In my 525i the lines are under the hood and fastened by another plastic clip in the middle. You can see the hole in the middle there where the clip goes.
    On another note, are the heaters acctually good for anything? I just found out that mine were not connected and I am wondering if reconnecting those could add more problems than its worth, since its an old car and maybe it was disconnected because of some malfunction. In winter I use a fluid that doesn't freeze anyway, but I guess it could help if ice forms on top of the nozzles.

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We installed the new lines how the old lines were installed.
      I would try connecting them, I can't think of any problems that having them connected would cause.

      You are correct. I just changed mine and the driver side hoses do not go behind the hood reinforcement.

    The heating elements for the nozzles on my E39 are connected to the square opening in the inside bonnet, but I see yours aren't, so presumably the nozzles have been off before. I can't figure out how to get them off. The connector on the heating element seems to be slide on with a single tooth that sticks out, so presumably there's some sort of clip there somewhere on the bonnet side but I can't feel one. I guess there's no harm in leaving these heating elements hanging rather than attached to the bonnet. Any thoughts pls? Cheers.

    • @fabiandee8178
      @fabiandee8178 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think I figured it out, there is no outside clip for the removing the windscreen nozzle heating element housing, it's a one time fitment and breaks off pretty easily by rotating.
