    When I first moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, the chief design engineer where I worked at PPG asked us who were from PA, if we had ever had BBQ. We all said yes. What we knew as bbq was what you just presented. He laughed and about castrated all of us yankees for darkening the name of real southern bbq. He said, ya'll are used to grillin, not bbq. In the southern U.S., bbq means to smoke and cook the meat at low heat, 225F-250F, over hardwood coals, chord wood cooked down to red hot coals, for 4, 8 or 12 hours depending on the kind of meat. The wood of choice is Oak, Hickory, Mesquite, Apple wood and other wood types that taste great. The meat of choice is Beef Brisket, Pork Shoulder/Boston Butt, Chicken and Beef or Pork Ribs namely Baby Back Ribs. I just BBQ smoked a Pork Shoulder for 8 hours last week. It was delicious. The bark of the shoulder was so unbelievably good. Do you have BBQ like that in Austria?

    Oh, forgot to add that if you salt your steak very well with coarse sea salt and let it sit at room/outside temperature for an hour the salt will tenderize the steak and break down the proteins so that even a normally tough piece of meat will be tender.

Thank God I am a Californian because ALL the Avo's we got were NOT Haas variety & tasted like NOTHING, just water basically.......Cali supplies the WHOLE USA with AVOCADO'S! They are THE BEST fruit.... I agree with Lily on this & because you plan to STOP buying them just means MORE for all the real Gourmet's!!! BWAHAHAHA, Thank YOU!

  • @pmessinger
    @pmessinger 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a simple point. Cooking on an open grate like that is "Grilling." Barbeque (spelled any way) is done slowly in a smoke-filled enclosure and "smoking" is done the same way but with the meat away from direct heat. Also, only hardwoods (hickory, oak, fruit woods, etc.) are used; no pine, spruce, fir, etc.

    I know this is an old video, but I enjoy watching it for some reason. The equipment looks cool. And they look useful in the sense that they don't take too much space and are doing their job. Very nice!

    Very cool tools.
    And yes, we like beer for BBQ too! Required, basically.
    Perfect, healthy food. I would be happy eating exactly the same!

    I cut the avocado in half and eat the pitless half first, stick my knife on the pit and pull it out. Then I eat the other half. Very clean that way. Greetings from the USA. Laura

    I really like the spice container actually. It can be a real pain if you don't have a decent way to keep your salt, pepper, etc.

      ReDevil because there’s a much better way to do it and you don’t need a peeler for it.

    Lilly, have You thought about a roof structure on the super fort?
    A platform on stilts would be cool. High enough to let light in around the sides?
    Also would make a good 360° shooting platform.
    And all those bottlecaps could be saved, and used on tripwires for alarms.
    Thanks as always. 😉

    I love your channel. I've enjoyed many videos that you've shared. On a side note (not to be too critical) that was grilling, not BBQ. BBQ can't happen in the woods unless you have the ability for low temp slow cooking. With that said; I really enjoyed what you have shown here. Like the salt/pepper shaker and I've never thought of eating an avocado like an apple before.... I think I'll have to do that now. :D Thank you for sharing this and have an awesome day! ~ Forrest
