In this episode I share my story how I got hired by one of the main tech companies - Facebook. In particular, I was hired into AI Research department as an AI Resident. The experience I had when I applied was only around academic research in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, including some papers and conferences. I believe my way was quite non-standard if to compare to majority of Software Engineers working here, so I also share what I now about standard hiring process. Basically, all you need to know about application process and interviews.

Can you please share with me , the timeline from when u applied and how much time was between each interview
bley it really depends, the whole process may take from 1 month to 3 months I would say. A week or two between the interviews
Great content! I am finishing my undergrad degree in CS and i struggle with my research project. It is ML related. I don't know where to start and what papers and code to read. Also i can't understand how my project can contribute to these papers. What changes to make in Neural Net, dataset, etc.. Can you make a video about how to plan an AI research project and what steps to take? Thanks in advance.
I think you identified the problems correctly, and there is no way around how you skip it. In order to improve something you really need to know how make it better. That's the most difficult part in research, and there is no easy way. Try to read more papers, at some point you will see that some of them are weaker and some use outdated technologies. Applying SoTA to existing problem which nobody have tried before is quite a good way to start, you can get paper at small conference easily in such way

Which role get paid more in Facebook? Software engineer or AI researcher?
I also studied physics now I was self-learning machine learning and deep learning .Can you say some ideas about how to approach companies like Google , Facebook as an artificial intelligence engineer.
I always wanted to do a Physics degree and know I'm confused whether to do a MS in Maths, Physics or AI.(Both have some good applications).
Any suggestion from your side??

I have one question how many LC problem did you solve to be ready for the interviews ? Were they Easy/medium/Hard ?
Aoron Barlow I really bad in LC and I didn't have much time to prepare. I hardly can do medium.

How many research papers should we have in machine learning to get into ai residency
It depends really, it's good to heave at least one or two to demonstrate that you know what to do and you are able to write a paper
after graduation, can I still write scientific papers without being part of any university?
Should I publish the papers i write?

Can I join Facebook or Google AI residency right after undergrad? ... after publishing about 4 to 5 good papers..... (again as an undergrad only)
