Awesome Austin527 In the mid to late 80s you couldn't be considered a metal shredder unless you could play Pagani. That was also when rockers discovered what tendonitist is.
this young guitarist has the greatest talent of all guitarists past and present. The speed, the clarity the musicality. she is the greatest the world ever has.
This girl is just a guitar goddess! what a superb interperetation. Love the way she plays so close to the bridge. It must be wonderful to play at such level. Still I'll give this piece a try in a few months... Shouldn't take me more that 20 years to learn it .... ;-).
Paganini, a composer who delighted in writing the hardest stuff in the world to play for the guitar and violin. My hats off to this guitarista. Very difficult piece, played flawlessly.
This girl is amazing!!!!! To get every note so clear at this speed, wow...... just blows me away. The only version I've heard that is arguably better is Nicola Hall's, which is the same speed but more expressive. Either way, I would give anything to be one tenth as good as this.
+LiwaywaySaGubat : No, the other version is not better. Su Meng's version is more fluent and without extra pauses forced by technical roadblocks (Su Meng can do that because her technique is superb). It is true that the other version may have a better recording quality but if we talk about the guitar execution, Su Meng's version is nothing short of amazing.
Paganini on violin isn’t like easy either soo this a whole other level Edit: Both are respected and difficult in it's own way. The different techniques and sound make them both beautiful and unique. Also I feel very cool for having all these likes and comments that started a healthy debate so thank you. It actually cheered me up a bit
As someone who plays both, they’re both hard in their own way. You can’t compare them. Violin is hard in the bowing and intonation since it’s not a fretted instrument. Guitar is harder because it’s actually super hard to pluck that fast, and you’re playing chords, so hand position changes have to be accurate and fast.
My wife is a really incredible guitarist and can memorize pieces on the instrument very quickly... So once, when we were teens, I had had a particularly bad day and couldn't sleep that night. So, knowing how much I love classical music, she learned this piece and sat next to my bed playing it all night until I fell asleep. I can't listen to it without getting a little teary-eyed now.
Su Meng began practicing at the age of 5 with great teachers. She never quit or did anything else with her passions. she just perfected classical guitar, until she became one of the best in China and now the World.
Holy sh&%! That's all I can really think to say. How old is this girl? She sounds like she's been playing for 20,000 hours, but she doesn't look that old... Really impressive! And who the heck "thumbs-down" this?

Probably one of the hardest piece to play on classical guitar... And it looks like she played it without much effort . Those beautiful harmonics tremolo muted notes Awesome

You play with amazing clarity at that speed. I wonder if I'll ever achieve your skill at the guitar. After watching this, I might as well break my guitar over my head and switch to the tambourine. Now I know it wasn't the Devil looking over Paganini's shoulder, telling him which notes to play - It was you! Too bad I've only just now found this video.

Amazing performance. Been listening to and playing classical guitar for 54 years, so I know what I'm hearing....and how difficult the piece is to play.
The first 16 measures I thought: "It's fast, but I could definitely do it, no problem, with a little practice, because I'm a talented classical guitarist." Two seconds after that, when I saw the speed of the position shifts she did, I knew what had to be done. I picked up my guitar, which is not a cheap guitar, mind you. Four figures, FYI. I took a last glance at it, and then, with a swift ninja-like motion, I smashed it to the ground. After that, I went out in my backyard, lit up a bonfire, burned the remains of the guitar until all that was left were ashes. Finally, I called upon the god of Azxes'Cha'chezcktou'cztanerd, with a cantation my hungarian grandmother had taught me that made me forget everything I've ever known about playing the guitar, since I just realised there's no point playing anymore. And I've never looked back. Who are you again, and what the fuck are you talking about?

Definitely one of the cleanest performances, for sure.

I started playing guitar to shred in a metal band, but forget metal, i wanna play Paganini now
metal takes a lot from classical, they're related. I enjoy both forms of music, though I listen to more classical on average.
