Nice start on your channel! As someone who also uses positioning flights from PHX when transferring to partners, when I fly Virgin Atlantic, I typically don’t fly across country on domestic, rather I look at LAX, SFO, and SEA as outbound. I then purchase a cheap SW or AA ticket to where I pick up my VA flight. They often have very good flights, and the carrier imposed fees on Premium Economy are not bad, in the $3-400 range. Sometimes I will splurge for Upper Class, but I know it’s pricey. The reason I mention this, is because the carrier imposed fees don’t go down much by flying from the East Coast. Often flying from the W. Coast you pay the same nearly the same amount in fees. Overnight direct from the West Coast you will get a full night’s rest compared to flying twice, 9-10 hours. You also tend to save time. 4-5 hours across the US, plus 6-7 hours to Europe, plus layovers, vs. direct.
