There's something I really like about the beginning especially. The idea that even after all of the planet's people have abandoned the Earth for (literally) bigger and better things, that we would still would come back with kind of a fascination and almost nostalgia for a world that many never had set foot on. Its just very humanizing. Especially coming from a character who seems so calm and collected. Anyway, awesome!

This creeped me out so much but I've already watched it several times. The complexity of the story is just amazing, the acting is perfection, and the execution is well done. However, as much as I feel bad for Mary-Kate's character, I really feel for Ashley's character. She looks as if she's been used for breeding so many times that she's lost her mind. And as horrifying the result is, there is the foreshadowing that the girl from the Frontier will end up just like her cellmate: abused, alone, and crazy. Like I said, CREEPY.
The line "they are the fishermen" was delivered very well! Creepy film

The panic in MK's eyes and performance was terrifying. Awesome! Ashley was creepy, but I couldn't help chuckling at "troglodite" and hearing the sort-of-similarities to Lizzie's costume theater mocking-voice.
I love this so much and I have major respect for you two for putting yourselves through this incredibly emotionally taxing scene. It's intense from behind my phone. I can't imagine playing either of your characters. It would be a terrifying place to visit mentally. Congratulations on two fantastic acting performances.

This was so good; Ashley gave me chills. I love the parallel between the short film starting with a close up of her eye and then it ending with her screaming "I just wanted to see it!"
I normally hate anything horror, so I didn't think this would go over well with me, but I absolutely love this! The vagueness of the plot worked so well, and this is some the best acting I've seen from both of you, including LBD! Especially Ashley, I'm blown away by her and also thoroughly scared of her. I adore this, so much so that I watched it about 4 times all the way through before writing this comment. :D love you ladies, keep on being awesome!

Ashley and MK's (but mostly Ashley's) were amazing!
Not going to lie. When this first began "It's blue. And white..." I couldn't help laughing with the image of "The Dress" in my mind...but from the moment when she got the "incoming" announcement, this thing just took off and I could hardly breathe through the rest of it. And Ashley! Speechless...Just freaking phenomenal. Don't know what to say. So I'm going to go raise my Patreon pledge. I hope others join me. Executive Producers can be very proud.
Re: blue and white! I know!! This was written way before #dressgate , but you can never predict when colors are gonna go viral.

Wow, this was REALLY good, and I want to know what happens next which is always a great sign! The acting was phenomenal - obviously Ashley was brilliant (super creepy and deranged, it was utterly fantastic) but I also really loved Mary Kate's character initially trying to keep it together and then steadily getting more and more terrified - very subtle and impressive acting. Great job to everyone involved!!!
Holy mother of pearl, Mary, this was amazing. It started in a rather Doctor Who vibe and went to Orphan Black/Black Mirror vibe real quick. You and Ashley, play against each other so well. If this is what you bring to the table Hollywood, is going to have to change the game cause you just pulled a royal flush. Truly incredible!!

Man, this thing is like a futuristic Beckett play. I get a hardcore Endgame vibe from it, especially from Ashley's terrifying and brilliant acting.
I probably shouldn't have watched this right before going to bed...
I come back to this several times a year. Spore is, to this date, one of the eeriest and impeccable short films I have ever seen.
This is a gem! I love this. Forget the other shorts, this is the way SF should be done. Hope MKW, Ashley and Taylor (and the others) can work together again.

Two amazing actresses create and convince us of an entire future world using only their dialog, gestures and facial expressions!
Taylor Brogan's writing is so subtle and reveals (conceals) just the right amount of information.
"Behold your manifest destiny"
"I was human. I did not care for it very much." What a wonderful line, encapsulates so much pathos. I shiver every time.
The final scene was wonderful. Spore looks up and apparently gets her first sight of whatever has got her. "I just wanted to see it". Cut to that complicated last look of Cal's. Resignation, entertainment, jealousy? There's another word I want, but I can't think of it.
Anyway, thanks to you all for a really creepy (but good) show!
Kind of reminds me of Orphan Black! Really neat job and awesome acting for both parts, even if Ashley kind of freaked me out a bit!

Whoa, that was so cool! I'm a bit confused about the context, like, who brought her there, why they need eggs, etc., but tone of the film was spot on and the acting was absolutely amazing! Props to both of you for being fantastic.
I think the point of the short, is to make the audience use their imagination to fill in the rest of the details. Although I'd love to know the answers.
My guess is there was a nuclear war that wiped out or disfigured and poisoned most of humanity while some escaped into space. The "fisherman" are the men who survived and took over earth and possibly enslaved female survivors. They want Spore's eggs because she was untainted by nuclear waste, so her offspring would look better and be healthier than the offspring of those tainted by nuclear waste.
That's a great guess!

Risa Plays Lol I had a similar idea but it was mutated animals or lizards (or fish...) who became humanoid and are now enslaving anyone they can for breeding.
Oh my god. I can't count how many times I've just said that, because I'm just blown away. That was so much better than I could have even imagined. More Mary Kate, Taylor, and Ashley are all things that will make me much happier.

This is rather fantastic. The music and sound effects were just perfect, and from "Where are your origins?" onwards I was totally captivated. Hats off to both actresses - especially Ashley. I enjoyed her in LBD but her acting skills here are far better than I imagined! Great job everyone who worked on this. :)

Ugh so happy I watched this early in the morning, maybe I'll have enought time to forget about this before bedtime! Very scary, great acting and cinematography.
That was awesome. Everything about it was brilliant, but I was particularly surprised by Ashley Clements. I never would have imagined her in a role like that, but she really hit it out of the park. I also really liked the balance it struck between fleshing out the universe and leaving things up to the viewers' interpretation. Great job to all involved. :)

THIS WAS SO GOOD
I saw the names and immediately had a fangirl-induced panic, because both of you are fantastic and such incredible actresses (plus there's still that part of me that freaks out when any LBD cast members are in the same room as each other) and it looked sci-fi, which is the absolute best, and oh my gods. This was so much better than I ever could have imagined! The writing was incredible, the acting was incredible, and the makeup and filming crews did an incredible job as well--it all felt so real! This was just so well done, thanks for making my day with this treasure :)
Can we have a sequel?

I can think of no other reason I would ever have watched this (not my genre in the slightest) other than if I'd been somewhere someone played it in front of me, but man that was good! I've been thinking about it on and off since I first watched. I have no idea how much that is or isn't because I have very little to compare it to, not having seen anything similar, but despite how horrible the end is, there is something so beautiful about how you put it together! And seeing you guys act together again was awesome! And strangely that didn't make it weird either. I've recently rewatched LBD and yet I wasn't thinking - it's weird seeing them play other characters together (maybe because they are such completely different characters).

Very cool. Really liked the aesthetic. The beginning bit had a kind of past's idea of the future thing going on. Like 2001, where everything is white and pristine in Kubrick's vision of the future. This left me wanting more, which seems like what you were going for in the vagueness context-wise and the brevity of it all.
