In the backpacking world, many praise the Silky Saw for cutting firewood. It is compact and lightweight ... so it should be great for your limited van storage.

As a NH native I grew up eating steamed clams, lobster, chowder...every Friday night for yrs. Now it's all very expensive " delicacy" I just go to the boats and buy it..the cale is soo nice

The moss on the tree is commonly known as old man’s beard I believe. It’s great for starting fires. Typically only grows by water because it feeds on the moisture in the air.

That first jaffle / pie was a little sus
Bit too hot, rake out some coals, put your pie iron on it then put some coals on top. Takes a little longer but bakes nicely. Never tried one with pastry ,must give it a go!!
The country and beach looks beautiful, your hatchet, try using a batton , look it up on U Tube will make life easier for you. Iook forward to your next installment.

Thanks Bluey! I do usually use the coals to cook, but when I started I had just lit the fire so there were no coals yet! As for the multi tool, though, yes I will definitely be getting something more useful! As always, thanks for watching!
Entertaining video. Love your campfire adventure. Not too many people there. I expected it to be crowded, inaccessible and expensive at Cape Cod.
That’s what I was expecting, too! It definitely helped that I was there in October! It was in the 70s on one day and in the 50s the next, but it was worth escaping the crowd!

Great time of year to hit "The Cape" great video .Nausett Beach is my fav..it's at the elbow..water much warmer than Acadia..The Movie Jaws was based in a small town on the cale..just more useless info in my brain ☮️💚

@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces I've been to Hollywood several times, once visited Paramount ( I think ) Studios, they he'd their "Jaws " theme thing with this huge white shark jumping out of the water right next tou you. ) Hollywood is a trip, that area .
Ooh I love watching the campfire! That's also one of my many favorite parts of camping! I love being the one to start n tend the fire too, also something about having those skills feels great!
Yes!! Me too! I tried to take a time lapse of the fire that would show the logs breaking down as they burned, but it didn’t work. I’ll try again next time though!

Oh yay! It’s always so cool to hear from people from the state I just visited! I ❤️Massachusetts! I actually worked at a summer camp in the Berkshires last year! I hope I did the state justice!!
And about finding Walmarts that allow overnight parking, I use the iOverlander app. I’ve also just went in and asked, and so far one said yes and one said no

Could have had something from Cisco Brewing, Cape Cod Beer, Devil's Purse, Naukabout... We have a bunch here that are sold at most of the local packies...
Back when I was filming this series, I would ask for suggestions from people that lived there! That’s great there’s so much to choose from in MA!

Did you ever get yourself a folding pruning saw? It was painful watching you trying to section those branches into fire pit length... Lol...

Another great video Maddie! The bottom of pitch pines is amazing fire still if you find it. A little folding saw makes cutting firewood much easier. A small hatchet will actually split wood. Sometimes you need to chop it in then use another piece of firewood as a hammer to help split the wood.The interior lights in the Sienna are on a timer and eventually shut themselves off. Do you have one of those new compact car starters? It’s good to have one just in case. Hope you are having a good time with your parents for Thanksgiving.
Thanks, Larry! Good tip about the bottom of pitch pine, and I’ll definitely have to get a saw or hatchet as I keep going, especially out west next summer, where I’ll be doing a lot more camping out! I have jumper cables but not a whole car starter. That would definitely be good to have, though!

That multi tool will be useless. Also when using a axe make a 45 degree angle cut from your right then next 45 from your left & repeat over & over again. May I suggest for doing bush craft get a silky F-180 folding saws make sure you get the large teeth & about $35 on Amazon. Also get a bush craft knife. I would suggest for what you would do a Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty Knife with Sandvik Carbon Steel Blade, 0.125/4.1-Inch, Orange (M-12495) has orange handle & $22 on amazon. Almost all multi tools are a gimmick & poorly made.
Oh yeah, I will definitely be stepping up my camping gear as time goes on! Just starting out with what was available!
