I have a 1984 Glenn Minami he airbrushed. I had the board restored about 7 years ago and was told he re-airbrushed it. Total MASTER. I'm so glad to see airbrushed boards making a come back. Awesome to see a video of the MAN at work. Mahalo
🤙🏼🤙🏼
Air brushing boards is incredibly difficult, painting/spraying on surfboard foam is so different and more complex than painting almost anything else, theres literally like a million things that can go wrong and just a split second away from disaster at all times. Even just taping off the rails symmetrically is a hell of a lot more difficult than people would think, then theres the risk of the tape lifting when you don't want it to and paint getting where you don't want it, tape lifting a previously sprayed colour. Even splinters of the stringer lifting when pulling off the tape on the stringer can cause a bit of a headache if you are unlucky or inexperienced enough for that to happen.
And when it comes to lamination time thats a whole lot of other stuff that can go wrong as well!
Gavin really knows his job, a true master, thanks for posting the video.
This was therapeutic and inspiring to watch. So good Gavin.
🤙🏼🤙🏼
Gavin should be sponsored and featured prominently in commercials for 3M tape products. The free-handing is amazing. Been seeing more 80s looking airbrushing around...fun to see.
I airbrushed over 10,000 surfboards back in the day. My favorite color surfboard is clear or opaque white in the lam. Had fun painting and made some money, just saying.
Right on!
Wow what an artist , skilled craftsman!! Very impressed with the taping technique! Thank You for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Absolute master at his craft!
Couldnt agree more!
His taping skills is definitely top notch.
I’d watch a 1 hour cut of this. Mabuhay!

@@TandCSurf Thanks for the encouragement!!! Can I sleep on your couch when my wife sees the bill?!?!? 😆
🤣🤣🤣
Incredible 👏
Yewww!
What does it cost to get such an epic spray job? Also, how does he keep the paint from pulling off with the tape?
For pricing contact our surfboard factory manager Vance! (808) 621-5000 Mon-Fri 10am-5pm HST or you can email him at TCboards@TCsurf.com. As for the paint coming off from the tape.... thats a trade secret! 🤫
really really really good i'm coing to buy a few this guy is a legend, mahalO!!!
Yessah!! Best boards in Hawaii!!
Outstanding execution! I don’t expect the person that came up with that design is a brusher.
No airbrush artist or would intentionally back tape that much. I wonder what TC charges for that brush.
Mahalo!
What type of paint is used to paint a blank? Water based acrylic?
Yes its water based
Gshock x T&C Surf Designs/Gavin Hasegawa 👀 🤙🏽
Please share what brand and kind of paint that Gavin in using.
Awesome! What board is it?
Its a new model that hasn't come out yet!!!
A normal human being would need to reposition the tape a billion times for this board!
100% haha
I wonder why not paint the stringer, love t&cs, imagine dragging the tape with the razor yikes.
he does make it look easy but it,s not
Never looked for easy
🤙🏼
