    Your video is fantastic. So many people do not show the finer points and functionality of their van. I like that you show people what is in all your bins & hidey holes. Those just starting out really need to see that. You use your space well. You are the only other person I've seen who used cubicle clips. Those little things are a game changer. 'T pins' are another great way to get stuff to hold to the roof of a van. Thank you for sharing your build.

    You are so organized. I'm envious.
    I recently bought a Dodge Grand Caravan and it's currently crammed to the gills. Not much organization.
    I had a Nissan Cube which my nephew helped me build out. I lost it, and most things in it during a Texas thunderstorm when I went into a ditch.
    I bought the wrong cot frame because I was able to salvage my trifold mattress. But it's smaller than the cot so don't know if it will work out.
    I bought storage from thrift stores and they're not that attractive but functional.
    It helps me to see what you've done and I got quite a few good ideas. Thank you so much.

    • @wanderinggypsydeb
      @wanderinggypsydeb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awwww so sorry about your Cube. Thrifting is great. It's not about pretty, but functional. I'm only very part time so I don't need to carry much. If I was full time I'd have to sleep in a tent..
      About your mattress, is it too shot? You may be able to get a piece of foam to add to it? Let's brainstorm a solution!

    Hi Deb....I've just found your site and was wondering what you do for screen covers on your windows so you can leave them open at night? I have the toyota sienna and travel to dog events with my 5 Labrador retrievers. Hotels don't allow that many dogs, so i would like a solution for putting screen on the sliding door windows so it can stay open a bit with out anyone getting eaten alive. I have crates inside for the dogs and plan on occasion to sleep in the front seat, so I don't worry about the dogs. I cannot put my seat back as the crates are there, so will look for a solution to lay lengthwise with some of the ideas you've shared. The screen thing is the one that i'm working on though. I also have a canopy i can back the van under in case it rains over night. Thanks bunches and have a super day. `cheers from another Debbie.

      Hi Debbie! I I installed screens on the wing and sliding door windows. I used an idea from Rootless Wanderer for the wing windows. Only supplies needed were regular window screen in a roll from Home Depot or similar, scissors and an old store card or old credit card. Look for her video.
      On the sliders, materials were same screening, tiny binder clips, scissors and old store card. Used the last of 3 ideas on Travel Grandma channel. I wish I made videos now on how I did mine. But right now in Vegas it's too hot to even show mine. Of you have any questions feel free to ask! I'm here chilling!

      I thought of 2 other things to keep your dogs cool. 1st is a windshield cover- the one you put on the outside of the windshield to keep snow off. I’ve used one and it helps a lot. Also I’ve heard of others using the aluminex blankets to put over their roof. I have one but have never tried it. You can find both of these on Amazon!

    Hi, What is it that you held the strapping for the curtain up with? Good idea on covering it. I couldn't discern what you said. Thank you.

    • @wanderinggypsydeb
      @wanderinggypsydeb  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's plumbing pipe strapping. I got a super wide beige colored seam binding. I opened up the binding and sewed a pocket and threaded the pipe strap thru. Be careful , the strapping is sharp. Wear gloves. Let me know if you have any other questions 😊

      @@wanderinggypsydeb Thanks for the reply! I have some of the metal strapping, but was stymied as hot to attach it to the ceiling without glue of some kind. I could make out what the things are that are holding it, so sent your vid to a friend who told me - cubicle clips! I had no idea such a thing existed! Ordered some immediately!
      This may sold the back window issue, too, except I think that window needs insulation just as the side windows do. Thanks again!

      Oh yes, those cubicle clips work great! If you have a button in the center of your headliner you can tuck the metal under it for added stability. @Nemo-yn1sp

      It's pipe strapping sold in a roll, in plumbing supply. I took extra wide seam binding and sewed the edge, then threaded the strapping thru. It's really sharp so wear gloves. I used cubicle clips to hold it up. I sewed rare earth magnets into the Tapestry and it sticks to the strapping.

    I love watching vanlifers, as I am desiring to become one myself, but it would be nice if the person would have someone else hold the camera while they are explaining the details of their van, because of to much bouncing, dizzy, closeups ..just a tip for us onlookers 😏

      I’ve been watching these types of videos for a long time, and I’d like to do it too. If I was more outdoorsy and used to camping. (Not having a bathroom looks like a big adjustment) and if we didn’t have all 4 seasons where I live, I’d like to do it here and continuing to work for about a year to save up money before I can go travel to the better areas you see people stay.
