It's a pity the audio quality is really bad, but David Crystal always gives us great insights..

I'm sure she doesn't hate her own language, and that there are things which are better expressed in that language, whichever it is.
But this is a two-way process. English absorbed many words from India, now Indian English is developing partly by applying some of the grammatical structures of Indian language to English vocabulary.
All good stuff and there is no reason why it should be a threat to Indian languages. I wish Sanskrit was more widely studied in India.

Anybody ever heard of an audio engineer? Not through this noise.

It may be nonsense to you, but Dr. Crystal has "authority" to say this. You wanted or not.

Sorry, but nothing annoys an American or a Brit more than dealing with a call center in Asia. Butchered grammar is bad enough, but the pronunciation of many words is almost unintelligible. (Another problem, as expressed in "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" is that call center workers tend to stick to a scripted formula, rather than listening to the customer.)

So not true. Fascination with the foreign and exotic is a universal cultural phenomenon.
