The original Scorponok was translucent black rather than solid gray, he's the only reissue to get a major color change like this, making him more show-accurate. Likely they didn't want to reissue a primarily translucent figure.
The reason the new one is smaller is because the show swapped the size of Scorponok and Terrorsaur, Scorponok was one of the shortest characters on the show and Terrorsaur was the size of Inferno.
I really loved my bw reissue scorponok but yesterday it broke, i was so disappointed and ive had it for 5 months and it was my fav until today i found sandstorm so picked him up and had to put bw scorponok at my graveyard/broken toys box and IMO i am so happy with the legacy one/kingdom mold.
Definitely in terms of character. He was a pretty nuanced character, and his alt-mode was metal as hell. I got Landmine as a kid, but I always wanted Scorponok.
I think the old one was even worse, I had one when it originally released and had to return it because the bee claw broke, not just not latch, it got fired by itself and broke. Wasn’t so bad tho, they let me exchange him for Primal :D
That latch for the bee drone DOES work on the original. Sadly, my one's tail snapped in storage. Bought a few of the re-issues, they use a much cheaper feeling plastic for sure, but they display well.
The beast wars scorponok was a great toy (despite the bee being part of the claw and not inside the claw) that when I saw how he was treated in the show, I felt insulted. I didn’t mind it when he fell in the lava. At least his opposite number wave mate, polar claw, had it worse with his entire front bear leg becoming a bat drone…well sorta. You can pretend the stub of his leg is a shoulder cannon in robot mode, but the beast mode is crewed if the bat drone is detatched. I guess that’s why detaching drones didn’t make it past the first wave.
Hey i know you dont watch tf reviews but i believe patriot prime had a similar problem with the bee claw and he showed a diy fix in his review if your interested
I do genuinely agree that the old one is actually better than the new one, but that's not because the new one is bad at all, I think it's pretty good, it's just that the old one was one of the best beast wars toys ever, only beaten by maybe depthcharge and that's it. Scorponok is like primal where the old toys are both so accurate and classic that it's hard to innovate with newer toys, so they don't really try.
Original one doesn't realy look like a Scorpion anatomicly. Legs are too small, head should be be seperate from the body, stinger is wrong, and claws look like lobser claws, not scorpion claws. The new, kingdom one does a good job of looking like a realistic scorpion. Old one is more fun but I like both.

Beast wars was fun imo. Different done RIGHT. Like animated
2:36 Wow i dint know that the original scorponok was _______ thats a really cool size class

Hmm I would argue that Energon Scorponok is the best

Toy wise Energon would be more comparable to G1 Scorponok than Beast War or live-action designs.

The vintage one can actually move the tail in robot mode, you can push it up so the gimmick clears the head
It's 2024 and I'm about to pick him up to go with primal and Megatron reissue for the shelf

This bouta be a banger!
Will Hasbro ever make tarantulas out of this mold because i think this mold with some modifications Will fit him
they already have a unique tarantulas mold in legacy so i dont see why they'd use this one for him.

i picked up the vintage reissue on clearance and on mine the bee drone is super sensitive, but it stays in place unless i touch the claw
My comic store has both of these
As I get older I find that Beast Wars, while great, is NOT my favorite series.
Cool
