Omgoodness, you just described the birth of my first Son. 41 years ago. On my fourth day of active labor they had to perform the c-section, it was to tuff on the babies heart. Cristina you went through regular labor AND c-section, very grueling, I was in hospital for 10 days after, it was a hard recovery. I had two more after, with recommended c-section because they couldn't guarantee that wouldn't happen again. I was told by my doctor I was "very lucky" my son survived that. All my very best to you both, it's forward from here, with new memories to be made.

I have to comment again, my dear young ones. I'm in my 7th decade and had 3 children at home. We were NEVER meant to birth alone. In better days when communities were closer and families lived nearby, Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunties and sisters all came together to help the birthing mother. They boiled the water, they placed cool rags on momma's forehead, they held her hand, they calmed her and helped her breath...and when the baby was born, they fixed meals and cleaned laundry for weeks afterwards. It takes a village. They were the midwives of the day and in service afterwards. I'm so glad you reached out. It's the natural thing to do.

@aryana I am 66 I had 4 children in hospital. I wanted to have my last child at home but the doctors said, if anything went wrong you would never forgive yourself, I was 25 at that time so that scared me. My grandmother and my mother had all their children at home, just myself and my brother was born in the hospital. They should listen to mother's and father's too.

What a beautiful couple your are and I am sure you will rare a beautiful loven adorable young man. I am so so sorry to hear of your experience.
You both knew exactly what you wanted and as you said you were a team..
They gave me medication on my first child to speed up my contractions and then when I wanted to push, they made me wait for over 2 and half hour's. My little girl got really bad jaundice and was taken back into the maternity hospital, I was in an annix a good bit from the hospital. She was there for 6 day's under light's I couldn't even hold her. I only had her home and I hermitaged I received 3 pints of blood and I was I hospital for a week. O my goodness it was terrible. That little girl is 46 years old my beautiful daughter she has 2 children by c - session 🙈🙈 it was so traumatic for her.
I would not allow them give me any medication on my other 3 children.
There is lots of good dulla/ midwife that come to your home and look after you through out your whole pregnancy. As your husband said the woman should not have to leave her home, they should come to her and there is dullas that does.
The best of luck, you beautiful family

42 years ago everything went wrong for me and I had a long labour then an emergency c section under a general anaesthetic, my partner wasn’t allowed to be there and my son was whisked off to the special baby unit. He was 5 hours old before I saw him and it still upsets me to think about it so I know how devastated you felt.
But I can also tell you that he is now a healthy, happy father of 2 and I went on to have a second child 2 years later who was delivered normally so one C section doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have a better experience in the future.
This video was so full of love and we all send our love back to you.❤

I understand if your mindset was a natural home birth and it ended as a c section and 4 days of labor, it is traumatizing. Keep in mind he is alive, Kristina is alive.
A birth can never be predicted. The love you give as parents to your beautiful son is all that matters even though you couldn’t cuddle him right after the birth and wasn’t able to breast feed him right away. The fact you do this now is all that counts and I am sure he will grow up as a happy child with parents like you are. ❤
Love from a mom from the Netherlands ❤

So important to have realistic expectations - and just be thankful that medical help is there when needed. Too many young people are set up for the myth of these 'natural' births and are then more traumatised when things don't go according to their plan.

I'll never understand why the interventions weren't looked at as something you should possibly accept at the point y'all were at... the fever is a sign that there are grave circumstances that need to be resolved immediately and I'm happy you finally accepted that reality and your son and you are alive and safe! This could have been a very different outcome!
Many women now have to have c-sections and it shouldn't be looked at as a failure of birth! It got your son here alive and saved you as well! Please try to remember the positive things!

You are wrong. The only positive birth is a 100% natural birth, no medical interventions. They were right to refuse them. What matters most is the woman's bodily autonomy and agency, having complete control, and not having any drugs. For the baby, traveling through the birth canal, skin to skin contact, waiting to cut the cord until it stops pulsing, and breastfeeding,--NO formula--is the only healthy way, psychologically and physically. Just because the baby is healthy does not mean the birth wasn't a failure! There is nothing positive to celebrate here except their strength and fortitude in waiting as long as they could to capitulate. People like you are what's wrong with the world. How dare you push unnecessary medical interventions, trying to wrest control of birth from women and giving it to a controlling, sadistic, patriarchal medical establishment. You are a shill for the medicalised birth industry that harms women. Shame on you!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful birth story! So happy for you both. It did bring up many memories. April 1st, 1989 my 8.3 lb baby boy was born - emergency c-section bc after 30 hours of labor, I did not dilate past 5 cm. I live in the US & the surgeons called it right away - the monitors were showing the baby was starting to be in distress & my blood pressure was way up. Everything turned out right perfectly, thankfully. Seven years later, my daughter was born via c-section. Thankful to G-d and the medical team. Blessings upon you both! you both are a very good and loving team! Strong too! 🙂

being a very practical minded person, i think that whatever is needed to get mother and child through the birthing process alive and healthy has priority over anything else. let's just be thankful we nowadays have access to the medical help needed to have that even happen, something our ancestresses sadly did not have. going in with that accepting mindset and a willingness to let go of heartfelt plans might make the process easier with less risk to mother and baby.

I agree. My Swedish great great grandmother died at age 27, 3 days after giving birth to my great grandmother. They did not have access to a hospital. This was a tragedy with negative consequences for generations in my family. Health and safety are paramount during child birth.

Wishing you all the best in your new journey of Parenting.

Wow. I resonate so much with your story. My water broke at 36 weeks gestation. I never progressed past 4cm despite hours and hours of pitocin and an epidural. I had very much wanted a natural unmedicated birth, but ended up with a C-section. It was terrifying. It took me many years to get over the disappointment of what was essentially a traumatic birth. They kept him away from us for observation for 15 hours and they fed him formula. I was so upset. My boy is a healthy, amazing 14 year old today. I'm so grateful he's here and healthy. We have such a beautiful life and family. Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy!!!

I'm so glad that your baby is okay and beautiful. I had a lot of problems when my son was born; my placenta had ruptured about a week before he was born and then when I went into labor, they didn't do anything about it, I had to push for about two hours; he wasn't alive when I had him; they had to bring him back, but he lived and he was determined to be here; he's in a wheelchair, he has cerebral palsy, but what a beautiful man he's become. He's 39 years old now and lives on his own with help and we're just so proud of him. He's such a caring soul and he's been such a gift and joy. Sending beautiful thoughts to you both; I'm glad everything is going so well now. August is such a beautiful baby!! (from Sandi)

Dear ones, I am so sorry that everything turned out differently than you had hoped. But all that matters is that you got through it and your little boy is healthy!
It wasn't easy for me to hear your story because I had almost exactly the same birth with my first child - including a terrible midwife. I can understand your thoughts and feelings - especially Christine's. You are such a strong team!

Here I am crying my eyes out because you have brought back memories of 40 years ago… when I went through some of the same things as you. My labour was also induced medically and I can attest to the incredible pain of those contractions. Then, I had to have an emergency C-section because the contractions were too hard and crushing my baby who was very small. Thankfully, I had two other babies several years later and was able to birth naturally and it was such a beautiful experience. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

You two are such an amazing example of how such a traumatizing experience can be turned into incredible love and even deeper bonding by LOVE. It could have turned out quite differently, lack of bonding, stress on the relationship ... but you two are true alchemists, creating magic by turning a rather heavy dark experience into pure gold. Very inspirational. Wow. And also thank you, Kalle, for showing us, other young men and (potential) fathers also what a strain such an experience puts on the men - and they have to be so strong for their women who are in deep suffering. Phew. La condition humaine is certainty not an easy one. And you are such lovely parents and your son is such a precious little gift. ❤❤❤ thank you so much for sharing! Much love from a mum ❤
