Young millennial here born in 98' but the older era of skating hits and influences me way more than today's skaters. Please keep posting more footy that you have. Love to see more
I was there when that footage of Tony was filmed at SR park. I think I hear myself saying, “yeah Tony”. That was the Benihana that got him on Concrete Jungle. At first I thought it was me along the fence when Tony was giving the, “how to”, but I realized it was Steven. The other two kids next to him in that clip are: Jessie Palmer and Gregg Sheryll. Crazy. I’ve got footage from that time too somewhere.
I met Lavar at the pier in late '97. He was just tic-tacing around doing frontside flip/switch frontside flip. I swear he did like 10 of these in a row and could never miss. Then he'd switch crook the ledge all perfect. He sold me Blind wheels for $10.
All tricks done today were done by 92. It's just by 94 the low and slow very technical period from 91 to 93 changed to a more simple trick choice but now done with pop and style. So skating has been like it is now since 93, maybe more 94. Check Eric Koston 101 parts from 93. Still stands up today. Now 31 years ago.
I remember seeing the raw footage of Marcus McBride doing that line at Union Square an being so amazed how good his board control is, the switch b/s 180 into bank 4 x-Ample
People don't realize lots of guys started out like that. Erik Ellington was doped out with cargos when he first started, crooked hat and all. Ethan Fowler was all baggy.
Skated pier 7 in 96’, solid spot 🔥

so raw, Lavar was just a machine.
Those switch noseblunts from Lavar though!
this is the best sounding video on TH-cam. watch with headphones
Lavar makes me wanna skate, forget the current crop of pros, I look to the old era for motivation to go out and skate.
Facts from Caesar
