Great to see you flying again. You have a refreshing unique take on presenting your videos which makes you stand out from some of the other content providers.
Usual comprehensive, informative and interesting commentary - spiced with some humour (Perth another planet!!!) - then some pleasant engine spooling up audio - and a descent into Sydney with some nice Illawarra scenery enroute. Great footage as usual Paul.
Economy class was exceptional on the A350 HAN-SYD. Two full meals with metal cutlery, well stocked bathroom with shaving and dental kit, blankets, pillows, hot face towel and amenity kit. Qantas' economy is a low cost carrier in comparison.
I have used Vietnam Airlines dozens of times for international flights and internal domestic flights in Vietnam. Always have been 100% reliable. I will be returning to Melbourne in business class for the first time in February, really looking forward to it.
Did this flight mid-Dec 2022. Superb service, food was great & plentiful, IFE was average but a lie-flat seat & 6 hours of rest made up for it. Loved the crew bowing just before landing. The A350 is substantially quieter than the 787. Flew onwards to London & far noisier. SGN airport is, as Paul says, very confusing as is Hanoi.
Thanks mate, I've been searching through reviews for Vietnam Airlines business class from Sydney to Saigon and vice versa, and finally I have found one that I can trust. Look forward to trying out one of the three cocktails soon.
I just arrived back in Melbourne from Ho Chi Minh City on the A350, in business, just like this review. Loved the food and the service, and the lie flat bed was fine for my short stature. You wouldn't want to be over 6ft though. The feet may be a bit of a squeeze. I noticed the same lights a week prior flying into Ha Noi. I checked this review out before we left, and again just now to compare my experience in the same class and aircraft type. I would definitely recommend Vietnam Airlines, like you, flew over in premium economy, which was also great. I love the A350, so much better than the tired old 777's and A330's. I'm yet to experience the A380 and am looking forward to that one day, in business with a bit of luck. Love your honest reviews, Paul. Keep up the great work.
Great review, Paul! Thanks for confirming that there ARE 2 Lotus Lounges at the SGN international terminal and a special thank you for confirming that hair-dryers were available in the showers!!
@@PaulStewartAviation LOL! Thanks. I've been eagerly awaiting your review and woke up to the notification that it was up! I'm really looking forward to flying with them in about 2 months and I can't wait to have the pho bo on board. It's like having bibimbap when flying Korean airlines.
Little trick I noticed when flying them recently. You can use the "Diplomat/ Crew/ APEC" lane for immigration (arrival and departure) when in Business. Just show them the boarding pass and they direct your straight to the front.
I flew the Vietnam Airlines A350 business HCMC back to Melbourne in late November and saw the same lights but way more than what you saw, was like a city of lights. Did some researching after the flight and found they are Dragon Fruit farms they use artificial light to control their growth. Very interesting. PS, I did the same and visited both lounges and showered in both (trip was Melbourne to Osaka on VN had a 8 hour layover) 🤣
Great review! My family has flown Vietnam Airlines the last three international holidays and every time we have a great experience and the pricing is great compared to other airlines. Would definitely recommend!
Paul I. Cracked up with never been to another planet except Perth that in addition to a lovely and informed review 10 out of 10. Recently traveled from Asia to Europe using EVA air imo outstanding and good bang for buck and have your preferred sir vents
Another great video mate. Looks like a solid business class product at a good price. That breakfast pho looked delicious. Those lights after take off are likely glasshouses which are lit up at night so the veggies don't fall asleep and stop growing - they have a lot of them in Holland.
I visited my Mum's family in HCMC the other week for the Lunar New Year with my Mum and we flew via Vietnam Airlines, our preferred airline service I wanted to get business class tickets for both flights but they were sold out when I bought the tickets last June, and so were the premium economy. Hopefully next time I'll get to experience business class on VN Airlines
Thank you for the video, I will travel to Vietnam with Vietnam Airlines in premium economy and back to Melbourne in business Class. This will be my first time travelling in business class. Look interesting
Flew them FRA-SGN and HAN-FRA in November 2022, so roughly a month before Paul. Can absolutely second what he told here, good work for good value. About the Pho for breakfast: I totally love a hearthy soup for breakfast after a long haul flight. It gives you all the liquid and minerals you've probably lost during sleeping time. Even while the more recent planes are better in terms of humidity, they are still far off of everyday average and one may dry out during long phases of sleep. So soup is great then😎😋
Great vlog Paul as always The lounges are both better than they were back when I was there Never like being shoved in the aisle when u get more comfort being closer to the window
I could not stop laughing 3:08 your description "With what appeared to be breakfast". For drinks I ordered the Paul Stewart humour over the martini as it was drier. Your coverage was more detailed and presented an open and honest view of this business class product. This aircraft really is as good if not better than the 787 dreamliner. It certainly seemed quieter. Thanks for sharing this Paul .

The plane landed in Germany to refuel, and passengers had to disembark, get searched and reboard!! The RTN flight was around 6am Gatwick we then landed to refuel in Paris, spent 3 hrs. sat onboard. So, fuel must be very expensive at Gatwick otherwise why refuel only just before landing there then again so soon after takeoff. I assume they can't fuel enough in Germany as it would make a heavy landing weight later at Gatwick. Thanks for showing us around Saigon terminal as have not used it since C19, the lounges have been refurbed and look quite nice. I'll be there in April for my RTN Saigon-Heathrow-Saigon flight with Emirates, I do love there A380 and the bed you can roll over in, the lounge at the back is great for a sit at the table meal. I'm somewhat back to traveling now - not yet on your hemispherical side of the planet, but will be making my way back to Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia in a couple of Months. Because I have subbed to your channel for years, I can't help but to expect to see you in an Airport Lounge or in Business class on a flight (when I occasionally earn enough upgrade points).
Flew them a couple of times SIN-SGN-FRA return in Biz in the past - only good experiences. Double as good as LH, half the price. Can’t compare with SQ or QR, but then there is this large saving ….
Did you get a look at the front seats? On some airlines the bulkhead ones have more room for feet, since there's no seat in front, but we can't tell if that's the case here.
I have flown with them several times business class. To Saigon and return from Melbourne and from Melbourne to Paris return. While it's not the very best in the sky the fare is very competative and the food and service is good. My only criticism was the very long layover in Saigon on the flight to Paris.
Good review. Surprised at the lack of WiFi and the limited IFE content. Some airlines seem reluctant to flesh-out their offering of the latest super-hero drivel with some older - and presumably cheaper - classics, like 'Cleopatra'. Food looked good. Usually in the back but I would consider flying in the front with this airline, as long as they were delivering on flight reliability and call-centre support.
Gosh the VN lounge looks great in SGN. I absolutely love Vietnam's lounge food. The local delicacies are excellent. You're right about the increase in airfares. Next month I embark on one of my international soirées... And my one way JCL BKK CMB MEL with UL is no longer the bargain it once was. But it looks I'll have the same type of seats with them in the long haul to OZ. The catering looks too notch!
Flown with Vietnam Airlines Business class and they are good!!! as you said, cheaper than some of the A-List Airlines for Business Class but probably worth the money... would deffo go with them again!! Corporate Espionage is rife amongst airlines, they all trying to compete for customers so some of them dont want you filming what they have on offer... a bit crazy but its the way it is...
As someone who's only been to Perth & Freeo your comment about it being another planet leaves me wondering 🤔 That was a nice comprehensive review. I love Vietnamese food, so I would consider them.

I did SYD-FRA-SYD before Covid. A long all day layover in Hanoi came with a complimentary hotel room and city tour. All this for A$4,000 which was less than a similar Premium Economy seat with QF and other carriers.
@@aaclhfirteedso SYD-FRA it was 2:15 in HAN. On the return trip, it was 05:45 to 23:55. We were picked up from the airport, taken to a Hotel in the French Quarter. @@gregessex1851 Great, we are planning to book business from Melbourne to France but the layover is 7.5hrs and going back to Melbourne from France is 13.5 hrs. Do you think they will still provide us with complimentary hotel? I am hoping, lol. We are flying on Dec
Perfect breakfast choices...wish more airlines would offer such things. Just wish they'd return the air vents, offer cold towels in hot climates and kept the craft cool...
Yeah liked the 50% cheaper, 80% as good example. And it's an A350 so that adds to it as well. Not like you're flying on an old A330-200 or anything, so that in itself makes for a better flying experience. Some airports are set up so poorly, I think Dennis hates Madrid for a similar reason. Not sure why airports don't ask passengers or do their own reviews of how user-friendly or intuitive their layout and signage are. I'm glad you pointed this out. Go the Steelers!
6:58: "Ooh self-burn, those are rare", jk, hope you had a good time in Vietnam mate. And the light in 10:12 you mentioned, if I not mistaken, those are night light for dragon fruit farm in Long An province along with your SGN-SYD flight path.
Hi Paul, Hope you heard that new domestic australian airline bonza got their approval from CASA and IATA today and are shortly going to upload tickets for their inaugural flights on their android app. I read the publication on the Australian Aviation Website and it says that Bonza will be charging $50aud per hour per flight. So if your destination from the origin is 2 hours away eg. Mel to Brisbane then you will pay $100 for that flight. I think this is a big step back from what they were initially marketing, that all flights would be $50 or cheaper. what do you think?
Bonza has revealed its inaugural service will be between the Sunshine Coast and Whitsunday Coast, with tickets costing $59 one-way. in FEB 2023. Tickets go on sale via Bonza Android app in coming days. I messaged them via linkedin

Hi Paul. I dunno how I missed this one coming out a couple of days ago 😅 At Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport, behind the food court that serves Terminals 3 &4, there is an area specifically for assistance animals. I dunno if pets are also allowed, but I think it's great that there is a space for Fido to "do his business", rather than having a "whoopsie" on the main concourse, or worse...in the plane itself ?🤣 I love the livery of the Vietnam Airlines plane, it's such a different refreshing colour. Good to see a decent comfy seat too, especially when it's an overnight flight I love the comparison of a Ford Focus and a fancy expensive car, although I am a Mitsubishi gal, myself !🤣🤣🤣
Amazing flight review! Business class on the a350-900 looks incredible! I’m not sure if you know yet, but there is a new airline opening up in Australia! It is called Fly Bonza and I think it will be a low cost airline. Anyways, I loved this review!
Your video amused me Paul, thank you. By the way what is the rest of Australian Phonetic Alphabet and can it be found on another planet say...Tasmania?
The toe box in that seat looked really tight. Not everyone can be the "best." Someone has to be #2. For a discounted price, that was well worth it. For a long haul flight, it's far better than economy. I do think they need to work on their signage at SGN if they want to be a true international airport. Signage needs to be crystal clear for the maximum number of people at every international airport. There is no excuse for not upgrading that. How much do signs cost? If you, who are a seasoned traveler was having difficulty, I promise you those that seldom travel really struggle.
" apart from Perth ". Literally lol at that. Unfortunately never been to Oz and the joke is lost on me but I appreciate the humour cos we say a similar thing but in the same way. If you get me.
Great video Paul! Although it is a bit odd to me that Vietnam Airlines 🇻🇳 advertised that they’re a 3 star Skytrax Airline and their cabin looks pretty average… I’d love to see some better colors and textures in the cabin but at least the seats are private looking & offer direct aisle access with no neighbors though. Overall given their low fares, relatively good looking service, excellent looking food & new fleet of aircraft I would definitely like to give them a try someday soon! 🎊 🎉 😊 Cheers 🥂 Caleb’s Aviation

Amazing flight review! Business class on the a350-900 looks incredible! I’m not sure if you know yet, but there is a new airline opening up in Australia! It is called Fly Bonza and I think it will be a low cost airline. Anyways, I loved this review!
Yep I’m keen to try Bonza but it’s difficult to get info about their flights
yeah, I downloaded the app but there isn’t that much information.
@@prezdough3049 yeah I'm not sure why they're not promoting themselves a little more
Thanks. The pork looks so nice and big. And i can recommend eating beef for breakfast every day.
Great first class or business class.
So many choice of colors for the seats, why green olive? Nostalgia of the Vietnamese army uniform color?
I'd tend to agree - it's not the best colour.
Your video amused me Paul, thank you. By the way what is the rest of Australian Phonetic Alphabet and can it be found on another planet say...Tasmania?
Tasmanian phonetic alphabet. A = arrogant (newly arrived resident), B = blow in (see A), C = c*nt (see A), ...
any idea of the cost of your flight in Australian $. Thank you
Check vietnam airline’s website for full details. Mine was booked with multiple other flights
6 Kangaroo!!!
You kill me🤣
The toe box in that seat looked really tight.
Do you need a VISA to transit in Ho Chi Minh Airport? (I am Canadian) 😀
Possibly
Vietnam Airlines is the only Airline I fly from AU to VN and back.
" apart from Perth ". Literally lol at that. Unfortunately never been to Oz and the joke is lost on me but I appreciate the humour cos we say a similar thing but in the same way. If you get me.
cheers
I travelled several times on Vietnam Airlines (Domestic Flights) but all the aircrafts were single aisle
Cheers 🥂
